John 8
1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
Jesus aber ging an den Ölberg.
2 At break of day however He returned to the Temple, and there the people came to Him in crowds. He seated Himself;
Früh morgens aber kam er wieder in den Tempel, und alles Volk ging zu ihm, und er setzte sich, und lehrte sie.
3 and was teaching them when the Scribes and the Pharisees brought to Him a woman who had been found committing adultery. They made her stand in the centre of the court, and they put the case to Him.
Aber die Schriftgelehrten und Pharisäer bringen ein im Ehebruch ergriffenes Weib zu ihm, und stellen sie in die Mitte.
4 "Rabbi," they said, "this woman has been found in the very act of committing adultery.
Und sagen ihm: Lehrer, dieses Weib ist auf frischer Tat im Ehebruch ergriffen worden.
5 Now, in the Law, Moses has ordered us to stone such women to death. But what do you say?"
Im Gesetz Mosis aber ist uns geboten, solche zu steinigen; was sagst nun du?
6 They asked this in order to put Him to the test, so that they might have some charge to bring against Him. But Jesus leant forward and began to write with His finger on the ground.
Das sagten sie aber ihn zu versuchen, damit sie ihn anschuldigen möchten. Jesus aber bückte sich nieder, und schrieb mit dem Finger auf die Erde.
7 When however they persisted with their question, He raised His head and said to them, "Let the sinless man among you be the first to throw a stone at her."
Als sie aber anhielten ihn zu fragen, richtete er sich auf, und sprach zu ihnen: Wer unter euch ohne Sünde ist, der werfe zuerst den Stein auf sie.
8 Then He leant forward again, and again began to write on the ground.
Und er bückte sich nieder, und schrieb auf die Erde.
9 They listened to Him, and then, beginning with the eldest, took their departure, one by one, till all were gone. And Jesus was left behind alone--and the woman in the centre of the court.
Als sie es aber gehört hatten, gingen sie hinaus, einer nach dem andern, von den Ältesten an bis zu den Geringsten. Und Jesus wurde allein gelassen, und das Weib in der Mitte stehend.
10 Then, raising His head, Jesus said to her, "Where are they? Has no one condemned you?"
Jesus aber richtete sich auf, und da er niemand sah außer dem Weibe, sprach er zu ihr: Weib wo sind jene, deine Verkläger? Hat dich keiner verurteilt?
11 "No one, Sir," she replied. "And I do not condemn you either," said Jesus; "go, and from this time do not sin any more."]
Sie aber sprachen: Keiner, Herr. Jesus sprach zu ihr: So verurteile auch ich dich nicht. Gehe hin, und sündige nicht mehr.
12 Once more Jesus addressed them. "I am the Light of the world," He said; "the man who follows me shall certainly not walk in the dark, but shall have the light of Life."
Da redete Jesus abermals zu ihnen, und sagte: Ich bin das Licht der Welt; wer mir nachfolgt, der wird nicht in der Finsternis wandeln, sondern wird das Licht des Lebens haben.
13 "You are giving testimony about yourself," said the Pharisees; "your testimony is not true."
Da sagten ihm die Pharisäer: Du zeugst von dir selbst. Dein Zeugnis ist nicht wahr.
14 "Even if I am giving testimony about myself," replied Jesus, "my testimony is true; for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you know neither of these two things.
Jesus antwortete, und sagte ihnen: Selbst wenn ich von mir zeuge, so ist mein Zeugnis wahr, denn ich weiß, woher ich gekommen bin, und wohin ich gehe; ihr aber wisset nichts, woher ich komme, und wohin ich gehe.
15 You judge according to appearances: I am judging no one.
Ihr richtet nach dem Fleisch, ich richte niemand;
16 And even if I do judge, my judgement is just; for I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me.
Und wenn ich auch richte, so ist mein Gericht wahr, denn ich bin nicht allein, sondern ich und der Vater, der mich gesandt hat.
17 In your own Law, too, it is written that the testimony of two men is true.
Es steht aber auch in euerm Gesetz geschrieben, daß zweier Menschen Zeugnis wahr ist.
18 I am one giving testimony about myself, and the Father who sent me gives testimony about me."
Ich bin es, der ich von mir selber zeuge, und der Vater zeugt von mir, der mich gesandt hat.
19 "Where is your Father?" they asked. "You know my Father as little as you know me." He replied; "if you knew me, you would know my Father also."
Da sagten sie ihm: Wo ist dein Vater? Jesus antwortete: Ihr kennet weder mich, noch meinen Vater; wenn ihr mich kenntet, so würdet ihr auch meinen Vater kennen.
20 These sayings He uttered in the Treasury, while teaching in the Temple; yet no one arrested Him, because His time had not yet come.
Diese Worte redete er in der Schatzkammer, als er im Tempel lehrte, und niemand griff ihn, denn seine Stunde war noch nicht gekommen.
21 Again He said to them, "I am going away. Then you will try to find me, but you will die in your sins. Where I am going, it is impossible for you to come."
Da sagte ihnen Jesus abermal: Ich gehe hinweg, und ihr werdet mich suchen, und in eurer Sünde sterben. Wo ich hingehe, da könnt ihr nicht hinkommen.
22 The Jews began to ask one another, "Is he going to kill himself, do you think, that he says, 'Where I am going, it is impossible for you to come'?"
Da sagten die Juden: Er wird sich doch nicht selbst töten, daß er sagt: Wo ich hingehe, da könnt ihr nicht hinkommen?
23 "You," He continued, "are from below, I am from above: you are of this present world, I am not of this present world.
Und er sagte ihnen: Ihr seid von unten her; ich bin von oben her; ihr seid aus dieser Welt; Ich bin nicht aus dieser Welt.
24 That is why I told you that you will die in your sins; for, unless you believe that I am He, that is what will happen."
Ich habe euch jetzt gesagt, daß ihr in euern Sünden sterben werdet; denn wenn ihr nicht glaubet, daß ich es bin, so werdet ihr sterben in euern Sünden.
25 "You--who are you?" they asked. "How is it that I am speaking to you at all?" replied Jesus.
Da sagen sie ihm: Wer bist du? Und Jesus sagte ihnen: Vor allem das, was ich euch sage.
26 "Many things I have to speak and to judge concerning you. But He who sent me is true, and the things which I have heard from Him are those which I have come into the world to speak."
Ich habe viel über euch zu sagen und zu richten, aber der mich gesandt hat, ist wahr, und ich, was ich von ihm gehört habe, das sage ich in die Welt.
27 They did not perceive that He was speaking to them of the Father.
Sie verstanden nicht, daß er ihnen vom Vater sagte.
28 So Jesus added, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He. Of myself I do nothing; but as the Father has taught me, so I speak.
Da sprach Jesus zu ihnen: Wenn ihr den Menschensohn erhöht haben werdet, dann werdet ihr erkennen, daß ich es bin, und nichts von mir selber tue, sondern das rede, wie mein Vater mich gelehrt hat.
29 And He who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone: for I do always what is pleasing to Him."
Und der mich gesandt hat, ist mit mir; er hat mich nicht allein gelassen, denn ich tue allzeit, was ihm gefällt.
30 As He thus spoke, many became believers in Him.
Als er solches redete, glaubten viele an ihn.
31 Jesus therefore said to those of the Jews who had now believed in Him, "As for you, if you hold fast to my teaching, then you are truly my disciples;
Da sagte Jesus zu den Juden, die an ihn gläubig geworden waren: Wenn ihr in meinem Worte bleibt, so seid ihr wahrhaftig meine Jünger;
32 and you shall know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free."
Und werdet die Wahrheit erkennen, und die Wahrheit wird euch freimachen.
33 "We are descendants of Abraham," they answered, "and have never at any time been in slavery to any one. What do those words of yours mean, 'You shall become free'?"
Sie antworteten ihm: Wir sind Abrahams Samen, und noch niemals zu jemandes Knechten geworden; wie sagst du: Ihr sollt frei werden?
34 "In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that every one who commits sin is the slave of sin.
Jesus antwortete ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Jeder, der die Sünde tut, ist ein Knecht der Sünde.
Der Knecht aber bleibt nicht ewiglich im Hause, der Sohn aber bleibt ewiglich. (aiōn g165)
36 If then the Son shall make you free, you will be free indeed.
Wenn euch nun der Sohn freimacht, so werdet ihr wirklich frei sein.
37 You are descendants of Abraham, I know; but you want to kill me, because my teaching gains no ground within you.
Ich weiß, daß ihr Abrahams Same seid, aber ihr suchet mich zu töten, weil mein Wort keinen Raum findet in euch.
38 The words I speak are those I have learnt in the presence of the Father. Therefore you also should do what you have heard from your father."
Ich rede, was ich von meinem Vater gesehen habe, und ihr tut auch, was ihr von eurem Vater gesehen habt.
39 "Our father is Abraham," they said. "If you were Abraham's children," replied Jesus, "it is Abraham's deeds that you would be doing.
Sie antworteten, und sagten ihm: Unser Vater ist Abraham. Jesus sagt ihnen: Wenn ihr Kinder Abrahams wäret, so tätet ihr Abrahams Werke.
40 But, in fact, you are longing to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth which I have heard from God. Abraham did not do that.
Nun aber sucht ihr mich zu töten, einen Menschen, der ich euch die Wahrheit gesagt habe, welche ich von Gott gehört habe. Das hat Abraham nicht getan.
41 You are doing the deeds of your father." "We," they replied, "are not illegitimate children. We have one Father, namely God."
Ihr tut die Werke eures Vaters. Da sagten sie ihm: Wir sind nicht aus Hurerei geboren; wir haben einen Vater: Gott.
42 "If God were your Father," said Jesus, "you would love me; for it is from God that I came and I am now here. I have not come of myself, but He sent me.
Da sagte ihnen Jesus: Wenn Gott euer Vater wäre, so würdet ihr mich lieben, denn ich bin von Gott ausgegangen und hergekommen. Denn ich bin nicht von mir selbst gekommen, sondern jener hat mich gesandt.
43 How is it you do not understand me when I speak? It is because you cannot bear to listen to my words.
Warum versteht ihr meine Sprache nicht, daß ihr mein Wort nicht hören könnt?
44 The father whose sons you are is the Devil; and you desire to do what gives him pleasure. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand firm in the truth--for there is no truth in him. Whenever he utters his lie, he utters it out of his own store; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.
Ihr seid von dem Vater, dem Teufel, und die Gelüste eures Vaters wollt ihr tun. Derselbige war ein Menschenmörder von Anfang an, und ist nicht gestanden in der Wahrheit, denn es ist keine Wahrheit in ihm Wenn er die Lüge redet, so redet er aus seinem Eigenen, denn er ist ein Lügner, und dessen Vater.
45 But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.
Weil ich euch aber die Wahrheit sage, so glaubet ihr mir nicht.
46 Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?
Wer von euch überweist mich einer Sünde Wenn ich aber Wahrheit spreche, warum glaubet ihr mir nicht?
47 He who is a child of God listens to God's words. You do not listen to them: and why? It is because you are not God's children."
Wer aus Gott ist, der hört Gottes Worte; darum höret ihr nicht, weil ihr nicht aus Gott seid.
48 "Are we not right," answered the Jews, "in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?"
Da antworteten die Juden, und sprachen zu ihm: Sagen wir nicht recht, daß du ein Samariter bist, und einen Dämon hast?
49 "I am not possessed by a demon," replied Jesus. "On the contrary I honour my Father, and you dishonour me.
Jesus antwortete: Ich habe keinen Dämon; sondern ich ehre meinen Vater, und ihr verunehret mich.
50 I, however, am not aiming at glory for myself: there is One who aims at glory for me--and who judges.
Ich aber suche nicht meine Verherrlichung; es ist einer, der sie sucht, und richtet.
51 In most solemn truth I tell you that if any one shall have obeyed my teaching he shall in no case ever see death." (aiōn g165)
Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn jemand mein Wort bewahrt, so wird er den Tod nicht sehen, in Ewigkeit. (aiōn g165)
52 "Now," exclaimed the Jews, "we know that you are possessed by a demon. Abraham died, and so did the Prophets, and yet you say, 'If any one shall have obeyed my teaching, he shall in no case ever taste death.' (aiōn g165)
Da sagten ihm die Juden: Jetzt haben wir erkannt, daß du einen Dämon hast. Abraham ist gestorben und die Propheten, und du sagst: Wenn jemand mein Wort bewahrt, so wird er den Tod nicht schmecken in Ewigkeit. (aiōn g165)
53 Are you really greater than our forefather Abraham? For he died. And the prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"
Bist du größer, als unser Vater Abraham, der gestorben ist? Und die Propheten sind gestorben; zu wem machst du dich selbst?
54 "Were I to glorify myself," answered Jesus, "I should have no real glory. There is One who glorifies me--namely my Father, who you say is your God.
Jesus antwortete: Wenn ich mich selbst verherrliche, so ist meine Herrlichkeit nichts. Es ist mein Vater, der mich verherrlicht, von welchem ihr saget, er sei euer Gott.
55 You do not know Him, but I know Him perfectly; and were I to deny my knowledge of Him, I should resemble you, and be a liar. On the contrary I do know Him, and I obey His commands.
Und ihr habt ihn nicht erkannt, ich aber kenne ihn, und wenn ich sagen würde, ich kenne ihn nicht, würde ich, gleich euch ein Lügner sein; aber ich kenne ihn, und bewahre sein Wort.
56 Abraham your forefather exulted in the hope of seeing my day: and he saw it, and was glad."
Abraham, euer Vater, frohlockte, daß er meinen Tag sehen sollte, und er sah ihn, und freute sich.
57 "You are not yet fifty years old," cried the Jews, "and have you seen Abraham?"
Da sprachen die Juden zu ihm: Du hast noch keine fünfzig Jahre, und hast Abraham gesehen?
58 "In most solemn truth," answered Jesus, "I tell you that before Abraham came into existence, I am."
Jesus sagte ihnen: Wahrlich, wahrlich, ich sage euch, ehe Abraham ward, bin ich. war vor Abraham, aber zum persönlichen Christus ist er erst in Jesus geworden. Abraham wurde um Christi willen ins Dasein gerufen, nicht Christus um Abrahams willen. Abraham sah im Glauben den Tag Christi kommen und frohlockte.
59 Thereupon they took up stones with which to stone Him, but He hid Himself and went away out of the Temple.
Da hoben sie Steine auf, damit sie auf ihn würfen. Jesus aber verbarg sich, und ging hinaus aus dem Tempel.
