John 6
1 After this Jesus went away across the Lake of Galilee (that is, the Lake of Tiberias).
Derefter for Jesus öfver det Galileiska hafvet, som är vid den staden Tiberias.
2 A vast multitude followed Him, because they witnessed the miracles on the sick which He was constantly performing.
Och mycket folk följde honom, derföre att de sågo hans tecken, som han gjorde med dem som sjuke voro.
3 Then Jesus went up the hill, and sat there with His disciples.
Och gick Jesus på ett berg, och satte sig der med sina Lärjungar.
4 The Jewish Festival, the Passover, was at hand.
Och då tillstundade Påska, Judarnas högtid.
5 And when He looked round and saw an immense crowd coming towards Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for all these people to eat?"
Då lyfte Jesus upp sin ögon, och såg att mycket folk kom till honom, och sade till Philippum: Hvar få vi köpa bröd, att desse må äta?
6 He said this to put Philip to the test, for He Himself knew what He was going to do.
Det sade han till att försöka honom; ty han visste väl hvad han ville göra.
7 "Seven pounds' worth of bread," replied Philip, "is not enough for them all to get even a scanty meal."
Svarade honom Philippus: För tuhundrade penningar bröd vore dem icke nog, till att hvar finge ett litet stycke.
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,
Då sade till honom en af hans Lärjungar, Andreas, Simon Petri broder:
9 "There is a boy here with five barley loaves and a couple of fish: but what is that among so many?"
Här är en pilt, som hafver fem bjuggbröd, och två fiskar; men hvad förslår det ibland så många?
10 "Make the people sit down," said Jesus. The ground was covered with thick grass; so they sat down, the adult men numbering about 5,000.
Sade Jesus: Låter folket satta sig. Och på det rummet var mycket gräs. Då satte sig ned vid femtusend män.
11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks He distributed them to those who were resting on the ground; and also the fish in like manner--as much as they desired.
Och Jesus tog bröden, tackade, och fick Lärjungomen, och Lärjungarna skifte ibland dem som såto; sammaledes ock af fiskarna, så mycket han ville.
12 When all were fully satisfied, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the broken portions that remain over, so that nothing be lost."
Då de voro mätte, sade han till sina Lärjungar: Hemter tillhopa stycker, som öfverblifne äro, att de icke förfaras.
13 Accordingly they gathered them up; and with the fragments of the five barley loaves--the broken portions that remained over after they had done eating--they filled twelve baskets.
Så hemte de tillhopa, och uppfyllde tolf korgar med styckom, som öfver voro af fem bjuggbröd, efter dem som ätit hade.
14 Thereupon the people, having seen the miracle He had performed, said, "This is indeed the Prophet who was to come into the world."
När nu de menniskorna sågo, att Jesus hade gjort tecknet, sade de: Visserliga är denne den Propheten, som komma skall i verldena.
15 Perceiving, however, that they were about to come and carry Him off by force to make Him a king, Jesus withdrew again up the hill alone by Himself.
När då Jesus förnam, att de ville komma och taga honom, och göra honom till Konung, gick han åter afsides bort uppå berget, han sjelf allena.
16 When evening came on, His disciples went down to the Lake.
Och när aftonen kom, gingo hans Lärjungar ned till hafvet;
17 There they got on board a boat, and pushed off to cross the Lake to Capernaum. By this time it had become dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them.
Och stego till skepps, och foro öfver hafvet till Capernaum; och det var redo mörkt vordet, och Jesus var icke till dem kommen.
18 The Lake also was getting rough, because a strong wind was blowing.
Då blåste ett stort vader, och vågen begynte gå.
19 When, however, they had rowed three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the water and coming near the boat.
När de nu rott hade vid fem och tjugu eller tretio stadier, fingo de se Jesum gå på hafvet, och nalkas skeppet; och de vordo förfärade.
20 They were terrified; but He called to them. "It is I," He said, "do not be afraid."
Då sade han till dem: Det är jag, rädens icke.
21 Then they were willing to take Him on board; and in a moment the boat reached the shore at the point to which they were going.
Och de ville hafva tagit honom in i skeppet; och i det samma var skeppet vid landet, som de foro till.
22 Next morning the crowd who were still standing about on the other side of the Lake found that there had been but one small boat there, and they had seen that Jesus did not go on board with His disciples, but that His disciples went away without Him.
Dagen derefter, när folket, som stod på hinsidon hafvet, såg att der var intet annat skepp än det ena, som hans Lärjungar voro uti stegne; och att Jesus var icke instigen med sina Lärjungar i skeppet, utan hans Lärjungar voro bortfarne allena;
23 Yet a number of small boats came from Tiberias to the neighbourhood of the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
Men annor skepp kommo af Tiberias, hardt till det rummet, der de hade ätit brödet, genom Herrans tacksägelse;
24 When however the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they themselves also took boats and came to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
När då folket såg, att Jesus var icke der, ej heller hans Lärjungar, stego de ock i skeppen, och kommo till Capernaum, och sökte Jesum.
25 So when they had crossed the Lake and had found Him, they asked Him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?"
Och då de funno honom på hinsidon hafvet, sade de till honom: Rabbi, när komst du hit?
26 "In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that you are searching for me not because you have seen miracles, but because you ate the loaves and had a hearty meal.
Svarade Jesus dem, och sade: Sannerliga, sannerliga säger jag eder: I söken mig icke fördenskull, att I hafven sett tecken; utan fördenskull, att I hafven ätit af brödet, och ären vordne mätte.
27 Bestow your pains not on the food which perishes, but on the food that remains unto the Life of the Ages--that food which will be the Son of Man's gift to you; for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." (aiōnios g166)
Verker icke den mat, som förgås, utan den som blifver till evinnerligit lif, den menniskones Son eder gifva skall; ty honom hafver Gud Fader beseglat. (aiōnios g166)
28 "What are we to do," they asked, "in order to carry out the things that God requires?"
Då sade de till honom: Hvad skole vi göra, att vi verka kunne Guds verk?
29 "This," replied Jesus, "is above all the thing that God requires--that you should be believers in Him whom He has sent."
Svarade Jesus, och sade till dem: Det är Guds verk, att I tron på den han sändt hafver.
30 "What miracle then," they asked, "do you perform for us to see and become believers in you? What do you do?
Då sade de till honom: Hvad tecken gör du då, att vi se kunne, och tro dig? Hvad verkar du?
31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the Desert, as it is written, 'He gave them bread out of Heaven to eat'."
Våre fader åto Manna i öknene, som skrifvet är: Han gaf dem bröd af himmelen till att äta.
32 "In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that Moses did not give you the bread out of Heaven, but my Father is giving you the bread--the true bread--out of Heaven.
Då sade Jesus till dem: Sannerliga, sannerliga säger jag eder: Icke gaf Mose eder det brödet af himmelen; men min Fader gifver eder det rätta brödet af himmelen.
33 For God's bread is that which comes down out of Heaven and gives Life to the world."
Ty det är Guds bröd, som nederkommer af himmelen, och gifver verldene lif.
34 "Sir," they said, "always give us that bread."
Då sade de till honom: Herre, gif oss alltid detta brödet.
35 "I am the bread of Life," replied Jesus; "he who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never, never thirst.
Sade Jesus till dem: Jag är lifsens bröd; hvilken som kommer till mig, han skall icke hungra; och hvilken som tror på mig, han skall aldrig törsta.
36 But it is as I have said to you: you have seen me and yet you do not believe.
Men jag hafver sagt eder, att I hafven ock sett mig; och tron dock icke.
37 Every one whom the Father gives me will come to me, and him who comes to me I will never on any account drive away.
Allt det min Fader gifver mig, det kommer till mig; och den till mig kommer, honom kastar jag icke ut.
38 For I have left Heaven and have come down to earth not to seek my own pleasure, but to do the will of Him who sent me.
Ty jag är nederkommen af himmelen, icke att jag skall göra min vilja, utan hans vilja, som mig sändt hafver.
39 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that of all that He has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it to life on the last day.
Och det är mins Faders vilje, som mig sändt hafver, att jag intet borttappa skall af allt det han mig gifvit hafver; utan att jag skall uppväcka det på yttersta dagen.
40 For this is my Father's will, that every one who fixes his gaze on the Son of God and believes in Him should have the Life of the Ages, and I will raise him to life on the last day." (aiōnios g166)
Detta är nu hans vilje, som mig sändt hafver, att hvar och en, som ser Sonen, och tror på honom, han skall hafva evinnerligit lif; och jag skall uppväcka honom på yttersta dagen. (aiōnios g166)
41 Now the Jews began to find fault about Him because of His claiming to be the bread which came down out of Heaven.
Då knorrade Judarna deröfver, att han sade: Jag är det brödet, som nederkommet är af himmelen;
42 They kept asking, "Is not this man Joseph's son? Is he not Jesus, whose father and mother we know? What does he mean by now saying, 'I have come down out of Heaven'?"
Och sade: Är icke denne Jesus, Josephs son, hvilkens fader och moder vi känne? Huru säger han då: Jag är nederkommen af himmelen?
43 "Do not thus find fault among yourselves," replied Jesus;
Då svarade Jesus, och sade till dem: Knorrer icke emellan eder.
44 "no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; then I will raise him to life on the last day.
Ingen kan komma till mig, utan Fadren, som mig sändt hafver, drager honom; och jag skall uppväcka honom på yttersta dagen.
45 It stands written in the Prophets, 'And they shall all of them be taught by God'. Every one who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to me.
Det är skrifvet i Propheterna: De skola alle varda lärde af Gudi: Hvar och en, som det nu hört hafver af Fadren, och lärt det, han kommer till mig.
46 No one has ever seen the Father--except Him who is from God. He has seen the Father.
Icke så, att någor hafver sett Fadren; utan den, som är af Gudi, han hafver sett Fadren.
Sannerliga, sannerliga säger jag eder: Hvilken som tror på mig, han hafver evinnerligit lif. (aiōnios g166)
48 I am the bread of Life.
Jag är lifsens bröd.
49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the Desert, and they died.
Edre fäder åto Manna i öknene, och äro blefne döde.
50 Here is the bread that comes down out of Heaven that a man may eat it and not die.
Detta är det brödet, som nederkommer af himmelen, på det den deraf äter, skall icke dö.
51 I am the living bread come down out of Heaven. If a man eats this bread, he shall live for ever. Moreover the bread which I will give is my flesh given for the life of the world." (aiōn g165)
Jag är det lefvandes brödet, som nederkommer af himmelen; hvilken som äter af detta brödet, han skall lefva evinnerliga; och det brödet, som jag gifva skall, är mitt kött, hvilket jag gifva skall för verldenes lif. (aiōn g165)
52 This led to an angry debate among the Jews. "How can this man," they argued, "give us his flesh to eat?"
Då kifvade Judarna emellan sig, sägande: Huru kan denne gifva oss sitt kött till att äta?
53 "In most solemn truth I tell you," said Jesus, "that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no Life in you.
Sade Jesus till dem: Sannerliga, sannerliga säger jag eder: Utan I äten menniskones Sons kött, och dricken hans blod, då hafven I icke lif i eder.
54 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has the Life of the Ages, and I will raise him up on the last day. (aiōnios g166)
Hvilken som äter mitt kött, och dricker min blod, han hafver evinnerligit lif; och jag skall uppväcka honom på yttersta dagen. (aiōnios g166)
55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
Ty mitt kött är den rätte maten, och min blod är den rätte drycken.
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I remain in union with him.
Hvilken som äter mitt kött, och dricker min blod, han blifver i mig, och jag i honom.
57 As the ever-living Father has sent me, and I live because of the Father, so also he who eats me will live because of me.
Såsom lefvandes Fadren hafver mig sändt, och jag lefver för Fadrens skull; så ock den, som äter mig, han skall ock lefva för mina skull.
58 This is the bread which came down out of Heaven; it is unlike that which your forefathers ate--for they ate and yet died. He who eats this bread shall live for ever." (aiōn g165)
Detta är det brödet, som af himmelen nederkommet är; icke såsom edre fäder åto Manna, och äro blefne döde; den som äter detta brödet, han skall lefva evinnerliga. (aiōn g165)
59 Jesus said all this in the synagogue while teaching at Capernaum.
Detta sade han i Synagogon, då han lärde i Capernaum.
60 Many therefore of His disciples, when they heard it, said, "This is hard to accept. Who can listen to such teaching?"
Men månge af hans Lärjungar, när de detta hörde, sade: Detta är ett hårdt tal; ho kan det höra?
61 But, knowing in Himself that His disciples were dissatisfied about it, Jesus asked them,
Så, efter Jesus visste vid sig sjelf, att hans Lärjungar knorrade deröfver, sade han till dem: Förtörnar detta eder?
62 "Does this seem incredible to you? What then if you were to see the Son of Man ascending again where He was before?
Huru skall då ske, när I varden seende menniskones Son uppstiga, dit han förra var?
63 It is the spirit which gives Life. The flesh confers no benefit whatever. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and are Life.
Anden är den som gör lifaktig; köttet är intet nyttigt; de ord, jag säger eder, äro ande, och äro lif.
64 But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were that did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.
Men någre af eder äro, som icke tro; ty Jesus visste väl af begynnelsen, hvilke de voro som icke trodde, och hvilken honom förråda skulle.
65 So He added, "That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it be granted him by the Father."
Och han sade: Fördenskull sade jag eder, att ingen kan komma till mig, utan det varder honom gifvet af minom Fader.
66 Thereupon many of His disciples left Him and went away, and no longer associated with Him.
Ifrå den tiden gingo månge af hans Lärjungar tillrygga, och vandrade intet länger med honom.
67 Jesus therefore appealed to the Twelve. "Will you go also?" He asked.
Då sade Jesus till de tolf: Icke viljen I ock gå bort?
68 "Master," replied Simon Peter, "to whom shall we go? Your teachings tell us of the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)
Svarade honom Simon Petrus: Herre, till hvem skole vi gå? Du hafver eviga lifsens ord; (aiōnios g166)
69 And we have come to believe and know that you are indeed the Holy One of God."
Och vi tro, och hafve förnummit, att du äst Christus, lefvandes Guds Son.
70 "Did not I choose you--the Twelve?" said Jesus, "and even of you one is a devil."
Svarade dem Jesus: Hafver jag icke eder tolf utvalt? Och en af eder är en djefvul.
71 He alluded to Judas, the son of Simon the Iscariot. For he it was who, though one of the Twelve, was afterwards to betray Him.
Men det sade han om Juda Simons Ischarioth; ty han var den som honom förråda skulle, och var en af de tolf.
