John 6
1 After this Jesus went away across the Lake of Galilee (that is, the Lake of Tiberias).
১এই সব কিছুর পরে যীশু গালীল সাগরের যাকে তিবিরিয়া সাগরও বলে, তার অপর পারে চলে গেলেন।
2 A vast multitude followed Him, because they witnessed the miracles on the sick which He was constantly performing.
২আর বহু মানুষ তাঁর পিছনে পিছনে যেতে লাগল, কারণ তিনি অসুস্থদের উপরে যে সব চিহ্ন-কাজ করতেন সে সব তারা দেখত।
3 Then Jesus went up the hill, and sat there with His disciples.
৩যীশু পর্বতের উপর উঠলেন এবং সেখানে নিজের শিষ্যদের সঙ্গে বসলেন।
4 The Jewish Festival, the Passover, was at hand.
৪তখন নিস্তারপর্ব্ব, ইহূদিদের এই পর্ব্ব খুব কাছেই এসেছিল।
5 And when He looked round and saw an immense crowd coming towards Him, He said to Philip, "Where shall we buy bread for all these people to eat?"
৫যখন যীশু তাকালেন এবং দেখলেন যে বহু মানুষ তাঁর কাছে আসছে তখন তিনি ফিলিপকে বললেন, এদের খাবারের জন্য আমরা কোথায় রুটি কিনতে যাব?
6 He said this to put Philip to the test, for He Himself knew what He was going to do.
৬আর এই সব তিনি ফিলিপকে পরীক্ষা করার জন্য বললেন, কারণ তা তিনি নিজে জানতেন কি করবেন।
7 "Seven pounds' worth of bread," replied Philip, "is not enough for them all to get even a scanty meal."
৭ফিলিপ তাঁকে উত্তর দিলেন, ওদের জন্য দুশো দিন দিনের রুটি ও যথেষ্ট নয় যে, প্রত্যেকে এমনকি অল্প করে পাবে।
8 One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, said to Him,
৮তাঁর শিষ্যদের মধ্যে একজন শিমোন পিতরের ভাই আন্দ্রিয় যীশুকে বললেন,
9 "There is a boy here with five barley loaves and a couple of fish: but what is that among so many?"
৯এখানে একটি বালক আছে যার কাছে যবের পাঁচটি রুটি এবং দুটী মাছ আছে কিন্তু এত মানুষের মধ্যে এইগুলি দিয়ে কি হবে?
10 "Make the people sit down," said Jesus. The ground was covered with thick grass; so they sat down, the adult men numbering about 5,000.
১০যীশু বললেন, “লোকদের বসিয়ে দাও।” সেই জায়গায় অনেক ঘাস ছিল। সুতরাং পুরুষেরা বসে গেল, সংখ্যায় প্রায় পাঁচ হাজার লোক হবে।
11 Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks He distributed them to those who were resting on the ground; and also the fish in like manner--as much as they desired.
১১তখন যীশু সেই রুটি কয়টি নিলেন এবং ধন্যবাদ দিয়ে যারা বসেছিল তাদেরকে ভাগ করে দিলেন; সেইভাবে মাছ কয়টিও তারা যতটা চেয়েছিল ততটা দিলেন।
12 When all were fully satisfied, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the broken portions that remain over, so that nothing be lost."
১২আর তারা তৃপ্ত করে খাবার পর তিনি নিজের শিষ্যদের বললেন, অবশিষ্ট গুঁড়াগাঁড়া সব জড়ো কর, যেন কিছুই নষ্ট না হয়।
13 Accordingly they gathered them up; and with the fragments of the five barley loaves--the broken portions that remained over after they had done eating--they filled twelve baskets.
১৩সুতরাং তাঁরা জড়ো করলেন এবং ঐ পাঁচটি যবের রুটি গুঁড়াগাঁড়ায় সেই মানুষদের খাবার পর যা বেঁচেছিল তাতে বারো ঝুড়ি ভরলেন।
14 Thereupon the people, having seen the miracle He had performed, said, "This is indeed the Prophet who was to come into the world."
১৪তখন সেই মানুষেরা তাঁর আশ্চর্য্য কাজ দেখে বলতে লাগল, ইনি সত্যই সেই ভাববাদী যাঁর পৃথিবীতে আসার কথা আছে।
15 Perceiving, however, that they were about to come and carry Him off by force to make Him a king, Jesus withdrew again up the hill alone by Himself.
১৫যখন যীশু বুঝতে পারলেন যে, তারা এসে রাজা করবার জন্য জোর করে তাঁকে ধরতে আসছে, তাই তিনি আবার নিজে একাই পর্বতে চলে গেলেন।
16 When evening came on, His disciples went down to the Lake.
১৬যখন সন্ধ্যা হলো তাঁর শিষ্যেরা সমুদ্রতীরে চলে গেলেন।
17 There they got on board a boat, and pushed off to cross the Lake to Capernaum. By this time it had become dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them.
১৭তারা একটি নৌকায় উঠলেন এবং সমুদ্রের অপর পারে কফরনাহূমের দিকে চলতে লাগলেন। সে দিন অন্ধকার হয়ে এসেছিল এবং যীশু তখনও তাঁদের কাছে আসেননি।
18 The Lake also was getting rough, because a strong wind was blowing.
১৮সেই দিন ঝড় হচ্ছিল এবং সাগরে বড় বড় ঢেউ উঠছিল।
19 When, however, they had rowed three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the water and coming near the boat.
১৯এই ভাবে যখন শিষ্যেরা দেড় বা দুই ক্রোশ বয়ে গেলেন তাঁরা যীশুকে দেখতে পেলেন যে তিনি সমুদ্রের উপর দিয়ে হেঁটে নৌকার কাছে আসছেন এতে তাঁরা ভয় পেলেন।
20 They were terrified; but He called to them. "It is I," He said, "do not be afraid."
২০তখন তিনি তাঁদেরকে বললেন, “এ আমি, ভয় কর না।”
21 Then they were willing to take Him on board; and in a moment the boat reached the shore at the point to which they were going.
২১তখন তাঁরা তাঁকে নৌকায় নিতে রাজি হলেন এবং তাঁরা যেখানে যাচ্ছিলেন নৌকা তক্ষনি সেই ডাঙা জায়গায় পৌঁছে গেল।
22 Next morning the crowd who were still standing about on the other side of the Lake found that there had been but one small boat there, and they had seen that Jesus did not go on board with His disciples, but that His disciples went away without Him.
২২পরের দিন, সাগরের অপর পারে যেখানে মানুষের দল দাঁড়িয়েছিল তারা দেখেছিল যে সেখানে একটি ছাড়া আর কোনো নৌকা নেই এবং যীশু শিষ্যদের সঙ্গে সেই নৌকায় ওঠেন নি কেবল তাঁর শিষ্যেরা চলে গিয়েছিলেন।
23 Yet a number of small boats came from Tiberias to the neighbourhood of the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
২৩যদিও সেখানে কিছু নৌকা ছিল যা তিবিরিয়া থেকে এসেছিল যেখানে প্রভু ধন্যবাদ দেবার পর মানুষেরা রুটি খেয়েছিল।
24 When however the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor His disciples were there, they themselves also took boats and came to Capernaum to look for Jesus.
২৪যখন মানুষের দল দেখল যে, না যীশু না শিষ্যেরা কেউই সেখানে নেই, তখন তারা সেই সব নৌকায় চড়ে যীশুর খোঁজ করতে কফরনাহূমে গেল।
25 So when they had crossed the Lake and had found Him, they asked Him, "Rabbi, when did you come here?"
২৫সাগরের অপর পারে তাঁকে পাওয়ার পর তারা বলল, রব্বি, আপনি এখানে কখন এসেছেন?
26 "In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that you are searching for me not because you have seen miracles, but because you ate the loaves and had a hearty meal.
২৬যীশু তাদেরকে উত্তর দিলেন, বললেন, সত্য সত্যই, আমি তোমাদের বলছি, তোমরা আশ্চর্য্য কাজ দেখেছ বলে আমার খোঁজ করছ তা নয় কিন্তু সেই রুটি খেয়েছিলে ও তৃপ্ত হয়েছিলে বলে।
27 Bestow your pains not on the food which perishes, but on the food that remains unto the Life of the Ages--that food which will be the Son of Man's gift to you; for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." (aiōnios g166)
২৭যে খাবার নষ্ট হয়ে যায় তার জন্য কাজ করো না, কিন্তু সেই খাবারের জন্য কাজ কর যেটা অনন্ত জীবন পর্যন্ত থাকে যা মনুষ্যপুত্র তোমাদের দেবেন, কারণ পিতা ঈশ্বর কেবল তাঁকেই মুদ্রাঙ্কিত করেছেন। (aiōnios g166)
28 "What are we to do," they asked, "in order to carry out the things that God requires?"
২৮তখন তারা তাঁকে বলল, আমরা যেন ঈশ্বরের কাজ করতে পারি, এ জন্য আমাদের কি করতে হবে?
29 "This," replied Jesus, "is above all the thing that God requires--that you should be believers in Him whom He has sent."
২৯যীশু উত্তর দিয়ে বললেন, ঈশ্বরের কাজ এই যে, যেন তাঁতে তোমরা বিশ্বাস কর যাকে তিনি পাঠিয়েছেন।
30 "What miracle then," they asked, "do you perform for us to see and become believers in you? What do you do?
৩০সুতরাং তারা তাঁকে বলল, আপনি এমনকি আশ্চর্য্য কাজ করবেন যা দেখে আমরা আপনাকে বিশ্বাস করব? আপনি কি করবেন?
31 Our forefathers ate the manna in the Desert, as it is written, 'He gave them bread out of Heaven to eat'."
৩১আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা মরূপ্রান্তে গিয়ে মান্না খেয়েছিলেন, যেমন লেখা আছে, “তিনি খাবার জন্য তাদেরকে স্বর্গ থেকে রুটি দিলেন।”
32 "In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that Moses did not give you the bread out of Heaven, but my Father is giving you the bread--the true bread--out of Heaven.
৩২যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, সত্য, সত্যই আমি তোমাদেরকে বলছি, মোশি তোমাদেরকে স্বর্গ থেকে তো সেই রুটি দেননি, কিন্তু আমার পিতাই তোমাদের কে স্বর্গ থেকে প্রকৃত রুটি দিচ্ছেন।
33 For God's bread is that which comes down out of Heaven and gives Life to the world."
৩৩কারণ ঈশ্বরীয় রুটি হলো যা স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে আসে এবং পৃথিবীর মানুষকে জীবন দেন।
34 "Sir," they said, "always give us that bread."
৩৪সুতরাং তারা তাঁকে বলল, প্রভু, সেই রুটি সবদিন আমাদের দিন।
35 "I am the bread of Life," replied Jesus; "he who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never, never thirst.
৩৫যীশু তাদের বললেন, আমিই হলাম সেই জীবনের রুটি। যে আমার কাছে আসে তার আর খিদে হবে না এবং যে আমার উপর বিশ্বাস করে তার আর কখনো পিপাসা পাবে না।
36 But it is as I have said to you: you have seen me and yet you do not believe.
৩৬যদিও আমি তোমাদের বলেছি যে, তোমরা আমাকে দেখেছ এবং এখনো বিশ্বাস কর না।
37 Every one whom the Father gives me will come to me, and him who comes to me I will never on any account drive away.
৩৭পিতা যে সব আমাকে দেন সে সব আমার কাছেই আসবে এবং যে আমার কাছে আসবে তাকে আমি কোন ভাবেই বাইরে ফেলে দেবো না।
38 For I have left Heaven and have come down to earth not to seek my own pleasure, but to do the will of Him who sent me.
৩৮কারণ আমি স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছি আমার ইচ্ছা পূরণ করার জন্য নয় কিন্তু তাঁরই ইচ্ছা পূরণ করার জন্য, যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন।
39 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that of all that He has given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it to life on the last day.
৩৯এবং যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন তাঁর ইচ্ছা হলো যে তিনি আমাকে যে যাদের দিয়েছেন, তার কিছুই যেন না হারাই, কিন্তু শেষ দিনের যেন তাদের জীবিত করে তুলি।
40 For this is my Father's will, that every one who fixes his gaze on the Son of God and believes in Him should have the Life of the Ages, and I will raise him to life on the last day." (aiōnios g166)
৪০কারণ আমার পিতার ইচ্ছা হলো, যে কেউ পুত্রকে দেখে এবং তাঁতে বিশ্বাস করে সে যেন অনন্ত জীবন পায় এবং আমিই তাকে শেষ দিনের জীবিত করব। (aiōnios g166)
41 Now the Jews began to find fault about Him because of His claiming to be the bread which came down out of Heaven.
৪১তখন ইহূদি নেতারা তাঁর সম্পর্কে বকবক করতে লাগল, কারণ তিনি বলেছিলেন, “আমিই সেই রুটি যা স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছে।”
42 They kept asking, "Is not this man Joseph's son? Is he not Jesus, whose father and mother we know? What does he mean by now saying, 'I have come down out of Heaven'?"
৪২তারা বলল, এ যোষেফের পুত্র সেই যীশু নয় কি, যার পিতা মাতাকে আমরা জানি? এখন সে কেমন করে বলে, আমি স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছি?
43 "Do not thus find fault among yourselves," replied Jesus;
৪৩যীশু উত্তর দিয়ে তাদেরকে বললেন, তোমরা নিজেদের মধ্যে বকবক করা বন্ধ কর।
44 "no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him; then I will raise him to life on the last day.
৪৪কেউ আমার কাছে আসতে পারবে না যতক্ষণ না পিতা যিনি আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন ও তিনি আকর্ষণ করছেন, আর আমি তাকে শেষ দিনের জীবিত করে তুলবো।
45 It stands written in the Prophets, 'And they shall all of them be taught by God'. Every one who listens to the Father and learns from Him comes to me.
৪৫ভাববাদীদের বইতে লেখা আছে, “তারা সবাই ঈশ্বরের কাছে শিক্ষা পাবে।” যে কেউ পিতার কাছে শুনে শিক্ষা পেয়েছে, সেই আমার কাছে আসে।
46 No one has ever seen the Father--except Him who is from God. He has seen the Father.
৪৬কেউ যে পিতাকে দেখেছে তা নয়, শুধুমাত্র যিনি ঈশ্বর থেকে এসেছেন কেবল তিনিই পিতাকে দেখেছেন।
৪৭সত্য, সত্যই বলছি যে বিশ্বাস করে সে অনন্ত জীবন পায়। (aiōnios g166)
48 I am the bread of Life.
৪৮আমিই জীবনের রুটি।
49 Your forefathers ate the manna in the Desert, and they died.
৪৯তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষেরা মরূপ্রান্তে মান্না খেয়েছিল এবং তারা মরে গিয়েছে।
50 Here is the bread that comes down out of Heaven that a man may eat it and not die.
৫০এই হলো সেই রুটি যা স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছে যেন মানুষেরা এর কিছুটা খায় এবং না মরে।
51 I am the living bread come down out of Heaven. If a man eats this bread, he shall live for ever. Moreover the bread which I will give is my flesh given for the life of the world." (aiōn g165)
৫১আমিই সেই জীবন্ত রুটি যা স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছে। কেউ যদি এই রুটি র কিছুটা খায় তবে সে চিরকাল জীবিত থাকবে। আমি যে রুটি দেব সেটা আমার মাংস, পৃথিবীর মানুষের জীবনের জন্য। (aiōn g165)
52 This led to an angry debate among the Jews. "How can this man," they argued, "give us his flesh to eat?"
৫২ইহূদিরা খুব রেগে গেল ও একে অপরের সঙ্গে তর্ক করে বলতে লাগলো, কেমন করে ইনি আমাদেরকে খাবার জন্য নিজের মাংস দেবে?
53 "In most solemn truth I tell you," said Jesus, "that unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no Life in you.
৫৩যীশু তাদেরকে বললেন, সত্য, সত্যই আমি তোমাদের বলছি, যতক্ষণ না তোমরা মনুষ্যপুত্রের মাংস খাবে ও তাঁর রক্ত পান করবে তোমাদের নিজেদের জীবন পাবে না।
54 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has the Life of the Ages, and I will raise him up on the last day. (aiōnios g166)
৫৪যে আমার মাংস খায় ও আমার রক্ত পান করে সে অনন্ত জীবন পেয়েছে এবং আমি তাকে শেষ দিনের জীবিত করব। (aiōnios g166)
55 For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
৫৫কারণ আমার মাংস সত্য খাবার এবং আমার রক্তই প্রকৃত পানীয়।
56 He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me, and I remain in union with him.
৫৬যে কেউ আমার মাংস খায় ও আমার রক্ত পান করে সে আমার মধ্যে থাকে এবং আমি তার মধ্যে থাকি।
57 As the ever-living Father has sent me, and I live because of the Father, so also he who eats me will live because of me.
৫৭যেমন জীবন্ত পিতা আমাকে পাঠিয়েছেন এবং পিতার জন্যই আমি বেঁচে আছি, ঠিক সেইভাবে যে কেউ আমাকে খায়, সেও আমার মাধ্যমে জীবিত থাকবে।
58 This is the bread which came down out of Heaven; it is unlike that which your forefathers ate--for they ate and yet died. He who eats this bread shall live for ever." (aiōn g165)
৫৮এই হলো সেই রুটি যা স্বর্গ থেকে নেমে এসেছে, পূর্বপুরুষেরা যেমন খেয়েছিল এবং মরেছিল সেই রকম নয়। এই রুটি যে খাবে সে চিরকাল বেঁচে থাকবে। (aiōn g165)
59 Jesus said all this in the synagogue while teaching at Capernaum.
৫৯যীশু এই সব কথা কফরনাহূমে সমাজঘরে উপদেশ দেবার দিন বললেন।
60 Many therefore of His disciples, when they heard it, said, "This is hard to accept. Who can listen to such teaching?"
৬০তাঁর শিষ্যদের মধ্যে অনেকে এই কথা শুনে বলল, এইগুলি কঠিন উপদেশ, কে এইগুলি গ্রহণ করবে?
61 But, knowing in Himself that His disciples were dissatisfied about it, Jesus asked them,
৬১তাঁর শিষ্যেরা এই নিয়ে তর্ক করছে যীশু তা নিজে অন্তরে জানতে পেরে তাদের বললেন, “এই কথায় কি তোমরা বিরক্ত হচ্ছ?”
62 "Does this seem incredible to you? What then if you were to see the Son of Man ascending again where He was before?
৬২তখন কি ভাববে? যখন মনুষ্যপুত্র আগে যেখানে ছিলেন সেখানে তোমরা তাঁকে উঠে যেতে দেখবে?
63 It is the spirit which gives Life. The flesh confers no benefit whatever. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and are Life.
৬৩পবিত্র আত্মা জীবন দেন, মাংস কিছু উপকার দেয় না। আমি তোমাদের যে সব কথা বলেছি তা হলো আত্মা এবং জীবন।
64 But there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus knew from the beginning who those were that did not believe, and who it was that would betray Him.
৬৪এখনও তোমাদের মধ্যে অনেকে আছে যারা বিশ্বাস করে না। কারণ যীশু প্রথম থেকে জানতেন কারা বিশ্বাস করে না এবং কেই বা তাঁকে শত্রুর হাতে ধরিয়ে দেবে।
65 So He added, "That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it be granted him by the Father."
৬৫তিনি বললেন, এই জন্য আমি তোমাদেরকে বলেছি, যতক্ষণ না পিতার কাছ থেকে ক্ষমতা দেওয়া হয়, কেউ আমার কাছে আসতে পারে না।
66 Thereupon many of His disciples left Him and went away, and no longer associated with Him.
৬৬এই সবের পরে তাঁর অনেক শিষ্য ফিরে গেল এবং তাঁর সঙ্গে আর তারা চলাফেরা করল না।
67 Jesus therefore appealed to the Twelve. "Will you go also?" He asked.
৬৭তখন যীশু সেই বারো জনকে বললেন, তোমরাও কি দূরে চলে যেতে চাও?
68 "Master," replied Simon Peter, "to whom shall we go? Your teachings tell us of the Life of the Ages. (aiōnios g166)
৬৮শিমোন পিতর তাঁকে উত্তর দিলেন, প্রভু, কার কাছে আমরা যাব? আপনার কাছে অনন্ত জীবনের বাক্য আছে; (aiōnios g166)
69 And we have come to believe and know that you are indeed the Holy One of God."
৬৯এবং আমরা বিশ্বাস করেছি ও জেনেছি যে আপনি হলেন ঈশ্বরের সেই পবিত্র ব্যক্তি।
70 "Did not I choose you--the Twelve?" said Jesus, "and even of you one is a devil."
৭০যীশু তাঁদেরকে বললেন, তোমাদের এই যে বারো জনকে কি আমি মনোনীত করে নিই নি? এবং তোমাদের মধ্যে একজন শয়তান আছে।
71 He alluded to Judas, the son of Simon the Iscariot. For he it was who, though one of the Twelve, was afterwards to betray Him.
৭১এই কথা তিনি ঈষ্করিয়োতীয় শিমোনের পুত্র যিহূদার সমন্ধে বললেন, কারণ সে সেই বারো জনের মধ্যে একজন ছিল যে তাঁকে বেইমানি করে ধরিয়ে দেবে।
