Hebrews 11
1 Now faith is a well-grounded assurance of that for which we hope, and a conviction of the reality of things which we do not see.
Karon ang pagtoo mao ang pasalig kanato sa mga butang nga atong ginapaabut, ug ang panghimatuod sa pagkaanaa sa mga butang nga dili nato makita.
2 For by it the saints of old won God's approval.
Kay tungod niini ang mga tawo sa karaan nanagpakadawat sa langitnong pag-uyon.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds came into being, and still exist, at the command of God, so that what is seen does not owe its existence to that which is visible. (aiōn g165)
Tungod sa pagtoo kita makasabut nga ang kalibutan gibuhat pinaagi sa pulong sa Dios, nga tungod niana ang mga butang nga makita gibuhat gikan sa mga butang nga wala magpadayag. (aiōn g165)
4 Through faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain did, and through this faith he obtained testimony that he was righteous, God giving the testimony by accepting his gifts; and through it, though he is dead, he still speaks.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Abel mihalad ngadto sa Dios sa labaw pa ka hinalangpon nga halad-inihaw kay sa kang Cain, nga pinaagi niini siya nahiuyonan ingon nga tawong matarung, nga gipanghimatud-an sa Dios diha sa pagdawat niya sa iyang mga halad; siya patay na, ngani tungod sa iyang pagtoo siya karon nagasulti pa gihapon.
5 Through faith Enoch was taken from the earth so that he did not see death, and he could not be found, because God had taken him; for before he was taken we have evidence that he truly pleased God.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Enoc gilalin ngadto sa langit aron siya dili makatagamtam sa kamatayon; ug siya wala hikaplagi kay gikuha man siya sa Dios. Sa wala pa siya kuhaa siya gipanghimatud-an nga nakapahimuot sa Dios.
6 But where there is no faith it is impossible truly to please Him; for the man who draws near to God must believe that there is a God and that He proves Himself a rewarder of those who earnestly try to find Him.
Ug kon walay pagtoo dili gayud mahimo ang pagpahimuot kaniya. Kay bisan kinsa nga magaduol sa Dios kinahanglan magatoo sa iyang pagkaanaa ug nga siya magabalus ra sa mga magapangita kaniya.
7 Through faith Noah, being divinely taught about things as yet unseen, reverently gave heed and built an ark for the safety of his family, and by this act he condemned the world, and became an heir of the righteousness which depends on faith.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Noe, sa napasidan-an siya sa Dios mahitungod sa mga hitabo nga wala pa makita, mitagad sa pasidaan ug iyang gibuhat ang arka alang sa pagluwas sa iyang panimalay; tungod niini ang kalibutan iyang gihukman sa silot, ug siya nahimong manununod sa pagkamatarung nga pinaagi sa pagtoo.
8 Through faith Abraham, upon being called to leave home and go into a land which he was soon to receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing where he was going to.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Abraham misugot sa diha nga gitawag siya sa pag-adto sa usa ka dapit nga iyang pagadawaton ingon nga panulondon; ug siya miadto nga wala lang mahibalo kon asa siya paingon.
9 Through faith he came and made his home for a time in a land which had been promised to him, as if in a foreign country, living in tents together with Isaac and Jacob, sharers with him in the same promise;
Tungod sa pagtoo siya mipuyo didto sa yuta sa saad, nga daw sa laing yuta, nga nagpuyo sa mga balongbalong uban kang Isaac ug Jacob nga mga manununod sa mao rang saad uban kaniya.
10 for he continually looked forward to the city which has the foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
Kay siya nagpaabut man niadtong lungsod nga may mga patukuranan, kinsang magtutukod ug magbubuhat mao ang Dios.
11 Through faith even Sarah herself received strength to become a mother--although she was past the time of life for this--because she judged Him faithful who had given the promise.
Tungod sa pagtoo bisan si Sara na gayud nakadawat pa ug gahum sa pagpanamkon, bisan tuod siya lapas na sa panuigon alang niini, sanglit iya mang giisip nga kasaligan kadtong naghimo sa saad.
12 And thus there sprang from one man, and him practically dead, a nation like the stars of the sky in number, and like the sands on the sea shore which cannot be counted.
Tungod niana gikan sa usa ka tawo ug kaniya nga sama ra sa patay na, misanay ang mga kaliwatan nga ingon kadaghan sa mga bitoon sa kalangitan ug nga ingon sa dili maisip nga balas sa kabaybayonan.
13 All these died in the possession of faith. They had not received the promised blessings, but had seen them from a distance and had greeted them, and had acknowledged themselves to be foreigners and strangers here on earth;
Diha sa pagtoo kini silang tanan nangamatay nga wala makadawat sa mga gisaad kanila, hinonoa nanaglantaw lamang sila niini ug nanaghangop niini gikan sa halayo, nga nanag-ila nga sila mga dumuloong ug mga langyaw lamang dinhi sa yuta.
14 for men who acknowledge this make it manifest that they are seeking elsewhere a country of their own.
Kay ang mga tawo nga managsulti sa ingon nagapadayag nga sila nagapangitag ilang kaugalingong yutang puloy-anan.
15 And if they had cherished the remembrance of the country they had left, they would have found an opportunity to return;
Kon mao pay ilang gihunahuna ang yuta nga ilang gigikanan, sila may kahigayonan pa unta sa pagpamalik didto.
16 but, as it is, we see them eager for a better land, that is to say, a heavenly one. For this reason God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has now prepared a city for them.
Apan ang tinuod mao nga ilang gitinguha ang usa ka labi pa ka maayong yuta, nga sa ato pa, usa nga langitnon. Tungod niana ang Dios dili maulaw nga paga-ingnon siya nga ilang Dios, kay siya nakaandam na man ug lungsod alang kanila.
17 Through faith Abraham, as soon as God put him to the test, offered up Isaac. Yes, he who had joyfully welcomed the promises was on the point of sacrificing his only son
Tungod sa pagtoo si Abraham, sa gisulayan siya, mihalad kang Isaac; ug siya nga mao ang nakadawat sa mga saad andam sa paghalad sa iyang bugtong nga anak,
18 with regard to whom he had been told, "It is through Isaac that your posterity shall be traced."
nga bahin kaniya giingon, "Ang pinaagi kang Isaac maoy pagahinganlan nga imong mga kaliwat."
19 For he reckoned that God is even able to raise a man up from among the dead, and, figuratively speaking, it was from among the dead that he received Isaac again.
Iyang giisip nga ang Dios arang makabanhaw sa mga tawo gikan sa mga patay; nga tungod niana, sa sinambingay nga pagkasulti, iyang gidawat siya pagbalik nga daw sa nabanhaw.
20 Through faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even in connexion with things soon to come.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Isaac nangaliya ug mga panalangin alang kang Jacob ug kang Esau sa ilang kaugmaon.
21 Through faith Jacob, when dying, blessed each of Joseph's sons, and, leaning on the top of his staff, worshipped God.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Jacob, sa himalatyon na siya, nanalangin sa matag-usa sa mga anak ni Jose, ug miduko sa pagsimba nga nag-akbo sa tumoy sa iyang sungkod.
22 Through faith Joseph, when he was near his end, made mention of the departure of the descendants of Israel, and gave orders about his own body.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Jose, sa hapit na siya mamatay, mihisgot mahitungod sa pagpanggula sa mga Israelinhon sa kaulahiay, ug mibilin ug mga tugon mahitungod sa iyang mga bukog.
23 Through faith the child Moses was hid for three months by his parents, because they saw his rare beauty; and the king's edict had no terror for them.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Moises sa iyang pagkahimugso, gitagoan sa iyang mga ginikanan sulod sa tulo ka bulan, kay ila mang nakita nga ang bata matahum; ug wala sila mahadlok sa sugo sa hari.
24 Through faith Moses, when he grew to manhood, refused to be known as Pharaoh's daughter's son,
Tungod sa pagtoo si Moises, sa daku na siya, wala mosugot nga pagatawgon siya nga anak sa anak nga babaye ni Faraon,
25 having determined to endure ill-treatment along with the people of God rather than enjoy the short-lived pleasures of sin;
nga nagpalabi pa hinoon sa pag-antus sa mga pagdagmal kauban sa mga tawo sa Dios kay sa pagpahimulos sa lumalabayng kalipay sa pagpakasala.
26 because he deemed the reproaches which he might meet with in the service of the Christ to be greater riches than all the treasures of Egypt; for he fixed his gaze on the coming reward.
Iyang giisip ang pasipala nga pagaantuson alang kang Cristo ingon nga labi pa ka dakung bahandi kay sa mga bahandi sa Egipto, kay siya nagtutok man ngadto sa balus.
27 Through faith he left Egypt, not being frightened by the king's anger; for he held on his course as seeing the unseen One.
Tungod sa pagtoo siya mibiya sa Egipto, dili nga nahadlok sa kasuko sa hari; kay siya milahutay man nga ingon sa nagtan-aw kaniya nga dili makita.
28 Through faith he instituted the Passover, and the sprinkling with blood so that the destroyer of the firstborn might not touch the Israelites.
Tungod sa pagtoo iyang gisaulog ang Pasku ug gisablig ang dugo aron ang Maglalaglag sa mga panganay dili makadaut kanila.
29 Through faith they passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing over dry land, but the Egyptians, when they tried to do the same, were swallowed up.
Tungod sa pagtoo ang mga tawo mitabok sa Dagat nga Mapula nga daw sa yuta nga mamala; apan ang mga Egiptohanon, sa pagsulay nila sa paghimo sa ingon, nangalumos.
30 Through faith the walls of Jericho fell to the ground after being surrounded for seven days.
Tungod sa pagtoo ang mga kota sa Jerico nangatumpag tapus gilibutan nila kini makausa sa matag-adlaw sulod sa pito ka adlaw.
31 Through faith the notorious sinner Rahab did not perish along with the disobedient, for she had welcomed the spies and had sheltered them.
Tungod sa pagtoo si Rahab nga dautang babaye wala malaglag kauban sa mga masukihon, kay iya mang gihinangop ang pagdawat sa mga maniniid ingon nga mga higala.
32 And why need I say more? For time will fail me if I tell the story of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, and of David and Samuel and the Prophets;
Ug unsa pay uban nga akong isulti? Kay pagakulangon ako sa panahon sa paghisgot mahitungod kang Gideon, kang Barak, kang Samson, kang Jepte; mahitungod kang David ug kang Samuel ug sa mga profeta
33 men who, as the result of faith, conquered whole kingdoms, brought about true justice, obtained promises from God, stopped lions' mouths,
nga tungod sa pagtoo gipangdaug nila ang mga gingharian, gipatuman nila ang pagkamatarung, gipanagdawat nila ang mga saad, gipanagtak-om nila ang mga baba sa mga leon,
34 deprived fire of its power, escaped being killed by the sword, out of weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put to flight foreign armies.
gipalong nila ang mabangis nga kalayo, nakaikyas sila sa sulab sa ispada, gikan sa kahuyang nakab-ot nila ang kalig-on, nangahimo sila nga makagagahum sa panggubatan, ilang gipatibulaag ang mga kasundalohang langyaw.
35 Women received back their dear ones alive from the dead; and others were put to death with torture, refusing the deliverance offered to them--that they might secure a better resurrection.
Ang nangamatay nga mga anak gipabalik ngadto sa ilang mga inahan pinaagi sa pagkabanhaw. Ang uban gipanagsakit ngadto sa kamatayon, nga nanagsalikway sa kagawasan, aron sila mangabanhaw ngadto sa labi pa ka maayong kinabuhi.
36 Others again were tested by cruel mockery and by scourging; yes, and by chains and imprisonment.
Ang uban nanag-antus sa mga pagbiaybiay ug mga paghampak, ug bisan pa gani sa mga talikala ug sa mga pagbilanggo.
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tried by temptation, they were killed with the sword. They went from place to place in sheepskins or goatskins, enduring want, oppression and cruelty.
Gipanagbato sila, gipanagpamutol sila pinaagi sa gabas, gipamatay sila pinaagi sa ispada; sila nanagpanglakaw nga nanagsaput ug mga panit sa mga karniro ug mga kanding, nanag-antus sa kawalad-on, mga sinakit, mga dinagmalan
38 (They were men of whom the world was not worthy.) They wandered across deserts and mountains, or hid themselves in caves and in holes in the ground.
nga kanila ang kalibutan dili takus nahadiindiin sila sa mga kaawaawan ug mga kabukiran, sa mga lungib ug mga langub sa yuta.
39 And although by their faith all these people won God's approval, none of them received the fulfilment of His great promise;
Ug kini silang tanan, bisan gipanghimatud-an sa ilang pagtoo, wala managpakadawat sa gisaad kanila,
40 for God had provided for them and us something better, so that apart from us they were not to attain to full blessedness.
sanglit gikatagana man sa Dios ang labi pa ka maayong butang alang kanato, nga sila dili niya pagahingpiton gawas kon mahiuban kita.
