Acts 15
1 But certain persons who had come down from Judaea tried to convince the brethren, saying, "Unless you are circumcised in accordance with the Mosaic custom, you cannot be saved."
യെഹൂദ്യയിൽനിന്ന് ചിലർ അന്ത്യോക്യയിൽ വന്ന്, “നിങ്ങൾ മോശ പഠിപ്പിച്ച ആചാരമനുസരിച്ചു പരിച്ഛേദനം ഏൽക്കാത്തപക്ഷം രക്ഷപ്രാപിക്കുകയില്ല” എന്ന് സഹോദരങ്ങളെ ഉപദേശിച്ചു.
2 Between these new comers and Paul and Barnabas there was no little disagreement and controversy, until at last it was decided that Paul and Barnabas and some other brethren should go up to consult the Apostles and Elders in Jerusalem on this matter.
ഇതുനിമിത്തം പൗലോസിനും ബർന്നബാസിനും അവരോട് അൽപ്പമല്ലാത്ത അഭിപ്രായഭിന്നതയും തർക്കവും ഉണ്ടായി. ഈ തർക്കവിഷയം സംബന്ധിച്ച് ജെറുശലേമിൽ ചെന്ന് അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരെയും സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരെയും കാണുന്നതിന് പൗലോസും ബർന്നബാസും മറ്റുചില വിശ്വാസികളും നിയോഗിക്കപ്പെട്ടു.
3 So they set out, being accompanied for a short distance by some other members of the Church; and as they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, they told the whole story of the conversion of the Gentiles and inspired all the brethren with great joy.
സഭ അവരെ യാത്രയാക്കി; അവർ ഫൊയ്നീക്യയിലും ശമര്യയിലുംകൂടി യാത്രചെയ്ത് അവിടെയുള്ള വിശ്വാസികളോട്, യെഹൂദേതരർ കർത്താവിലേക്കു തിരിഞ്ഞതിനെക്കുറിച്ചു വിവരിച്ചു; സഹോദരങ്ങൾ ഇതു കേട്ട് വളരെ ആനന്ദിച്ചു.
4 Upon their arrival in Jerusalem they were cordially received by the Church, the Apostles, and the Elders; and they reported in detail all that God, working with them, had done.
അവർ ജെറുശലേമിൽ എത്തിയപ്പോൾ സഭയും അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരും അവരെ സ്വാഗതംചെയ്തു; ദൈവം തങ്ങളിലൂടെ നിർവഹിച്ച എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും പൗലോസും ബർന്നബാസും കൂടെയുള്ളവരും അവരെ അറിയിച്ചു.
5 But certain men who had belonged to the sect of the Pharisees but were now believers, stood up in the assembly, and said, "Yes, Gentile believers ought to be circumcised and be ordered to keep the Law of Moses."
അപ്പോൾ പരീശന്മാരുടെ വിഭാഗത്തിൽപ്പെട്ട ഏതാനും വിശ്വാസികൾ എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്ന്, “യെഹൂദേതരവിശ്വാസികളോട് പരിച്ഛേദനം ഏൽക്കാനും മോശയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം അനുസരിക്കാനും കൽപ്പിക്കണം” എന്ന് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.
6 Then the Apostles and Elders met to consider the matter;
ഈ പ്രശ്നം പരിഗണിക്കാൻ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരും ഒരുമിച്ചുകൂടി.
7 and after there had been a long discussion Peter rose to his feet. "It is within your own knowledge," he said, "that God originally made choice among you that from my lips the Gentiles were to hear the Message of the Good News, and believe.
സുദീർഘമായ ചർച്ചയ്ക്കുശേഷം പത്രോസ് എഴുന്നേറ്റുനിന്ന് അവരോടിങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞു: “സഹോദരന്മാരായ പുരുഷന്മാരേ, യെഹൂദേതരർ എന്റെ അധരങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് സുവിശേഷം കേൾക്കുകയും വിശ്വസിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിനു കുറച്ചുനാൾമുമ്പ് ദൈവം നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിൽനിന്ന് എന്നെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത വസ്തുത നിങ്ങൾക്കറിയാമല്ലോ!
8 And God, who knows all hearts, gave His testimony in their favour by bestowing the Holy Spirit on them just as He did on us;
ഹൃദയങ്ങളെ അറിയുന്നവനായ ദൈവം നമുക്കു നൽകിയതുപോലെ അവർക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനെ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് അവരെ അംഗീകരിച്ചെന്നു സാക്ഷ്യപ്പെടുത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 and He made no difference between us and them, in that He cleansed their hearts by their faith.
ദൈവം നമുക്കും അവർക്കുംതമ്മിൽ വിവേചനമൊന്നും കാണിച്ചിട്ടില്ല: അവിടന്ന് അവരുടെ ഹൃദയങ്ങളെയും വിശ്വാസത്താൽ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചല്ലോ.
10 Now, therefore, why try an experiment upon God, by laying on the necks of these disciples a yoke which neither our forefathers nor we have been able to bear?
അതുകൊണ്ട്, നമുക്കോ നമ്മുടെ പൂർവികർക്കോ വഹിക്കാൻ കഴിയാതിരുന്ന നുകം ക്രിസ്തുവിൽ വിശ്വസിച്ച യെഹൂദേതരരായവരുടെ കഴുത്തിൽവെച്ച് ദൈവത്തെ നാം ഇപ്പോൾ എന്തിനു പരീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു?
11 On the contrary, we believe that it is by the grace of the Lord Jesus that we, as well as they, shall be saved."
കർത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ കൃപയാണ് നമുക്കും അവർക്കും രക്ഷ ലഭിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള മാർഗം എന്നു നാം വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു.”
12 Then the whole assembly remained silent while they listened to the statement made by Paul and Barnabas as to all the signs and marvels that God had done among the Gentiles through their instrumentality.
ബർന്നബാസും പൗലോസും തങ്ങളിലൂടെ ദൈവം യെഹൂദേതരരുടെ ഇടയിൽ പ്രവർത്തിച്ച ചിഹ്നങ്ങളും അത്ഭുതങ്ങളും വിവരിച്ചതു കൂടിയിരുന്ന ജനമെല്ലാം ഒന്നടങ്കം നിശ്ശബ്ദരായി കേട്ടുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
13 When they had finished speaking, James said, "Brethren, listen to me.
അവർ സംസാരിച്ചുകഴിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് ഇങ്ങനെ പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു: “സഹോദരന്മാരേ, എന്റെ വാക്കു ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക.
14 Symeon has related how God first looked graciously on the Gentiles to take from among them a People to be called by His name.
ദൈവം ആദ്യമായി യെഹൂദേതരരിൽനിന്ന് ഒരു ജനതയെ തന്റെ നാമത്തിനായി തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തുകൊണ്ട്, അവരെ കടാക്ഷിച്ചതിനെപ്പറ്റി ശിമോൻ പത്രോസ് നമ്മോട് വിശദമാക്കിയല്ലോ.
15 And this is in harmony with the language of the Prophets, which says:
പ്രവാചക ലിഖിതങ്ങളിലെ ഈ വാക്കുകളും ഇതിനോടു വളരെ യോജിക്കുന്നു:
16 "'"Afterwards I will return, and will rebuild David's fallen tent. Its ruins I will rebuild, and I will set it up again;
“‘ഇതിനുശേഷം ഞാൻ മടങ്ങിവരികയും ദാവീദിന്റെ വീണുപോയ കൂടാരം വീണ്ടും പണിയുകയും ചെയ്യും; ഞാൻ അതിന്റെ നഷ്ടാവശിഷ്ടങ്ങൾ വീണ്ടും പണിയും ഞാൻ അതിനെ പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കും;
17 In order that the rest of mankind may earnestly seek the Lord--even all the nations which are called by My name,"
മനുഷ്യരിൽ ശേഷിക്കുന്നവരും എന്റെ നാമം വഹിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദേതരരും കർത്താവിനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും, എന്ന് പൂർവകാലംമുതൽതന്നെ ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിക്കൊണ്ടിരുന്ന (aiōn g165)
കർത്താവ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.’
19 "My judgement, therefore, is against inflicting unexpected annoyance on those of the Gentiles who are turning to God.
“ആകയാൽ, ദൈവത്തിലേക്കു തിരിയുന്ന യെഹൂദേതരരെ നാം ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിക്കരുത് എന്നതാണ് എന്റെ തീരുമാനം.
20 Yet let us send them written instructions to abstain from things polluted by connexion with idolatry, from fornication, from meat killed by strangling, and from blood.
വിഗ്രഹങ്ങൾക്ക് അർപ്പിച്ചവ, ശ്വാസംമുട്ടിച്ചു കൊന്നവ, രക്തം എന്നിവ ഭക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിൽനിന്നും ലൈംഗികാധർമത്തിൽനിന്നും അകന്നിരിക്കണമെന്നു നാം അവർക്ക് എഴുതി അയയ്ക്കണം.
21 For Moses from the earliest times has had his preachers in every town, being read, as he is, Sabbath after Sabbath, in the various synagogues."
മോശയുടെ ന്യായപ്രമാണം പൂർവകാലംമുതൽ എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും പ്രസംഗിച്ചും ശബ്ബത്തുതോറും യെഹൂദപ്പള്ളികളിൽ വായിച്ചും പോരുന്നുണ്ടല്ലോ!”
22 Thereupon it was decided by the Apostles and Elders, with the approval of the whole Church, to choose suitable persons from among themselves and send them to Antioch, with Paul and Barnabas. Judas, called Bar-sabbas, and Silas, leading men among the brethren, were selected,
അപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരും സഭമുഴുവനും ചേർന്ന് തങ്ങളുടെ കൂട്ടത്തിലുള്ള ചിലരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത് പൗലോസിനോടും ബർന്നബാസിനോടുംകൂടെ അന്ത്യോക്യയിലേക്കയയ്ക്കണമെന്നു നിശ്ചയിച്ചു. സഹോദരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിൽ നേതൃത്വം വഹിച്ചിരുന്നവരായ ബർശബാസ് എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്ന യൂദായെയും ശീലാസിനെയും അവർ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
23 and they took with them the following letter: "The Apostles and the elder brethren send greeting to the Gentile brethren throughout Antioch, Syria and Cilicia.
അവരുടെ കൈയിൽ കൊടുത്തയച്ച കത്തിൽ ഇങ്ങനെ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു: അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാരും സഭാമുഖ്യന്മാരുമായ സഹോദരന്മാർ, അന്ത്യോക്യാനഗരത്തിലും സിറിയ, കിലിക്യ എന്നീ പ്രവിശ്യകളിലുമുള്ള യെഹൂദേതരരായ വിശ്വാസികൾക്ക് എഴുതുന്നത്: നിങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാവർക്കും വന്ദനം!
24 As we have been informed that certain persons who have gone out from among us have disturbed you by their teaching and have unsettled your minds, without having received any such instructions from us;
ഞങ്ങൾ അധികാരപ്പെടുത്താതെ, ചിലർ ഞങ്ങളുടെയിടയിൽനിന്ന് വന്നു നിങ്ങളെ ശല്യപ്പെടുത്തുകയും അവരുടെ വാക്കുകളാൽ നിങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സുകൾ അസ്വസ്ഥമാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുവെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ കേട്ടു.
25 we have unanimously decided to select certain men and send them to you in company with our dear friends Barnabas and Paul,
അതുകൊണ്ടു ചിലരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത്, നമ്മുടെ പ്രിയസ്നേഹിതരായ ബർന്നബാസിനോടും പൗലോസിനോടുംകൂടെ നിങ്ങളുടെ അടുത്തേക്കയയ്ക്കണമെന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ ഏകമനസ്സോടെ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.
26 who have endangered their very lives for the sake of our Lord Jesus Christ.
അവർ ഇരുവരും നമ്മുടെ കർത്താവായ യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തിനുവേണ്ടി സ്വന്തം ജീവൻപോലും പണയപ്പെടുത്തിയവരാണല്ലോ.
27 We have therefore sent Judas and Silas, who are themselves bringing you the same message by word of mouth.
ആകയാൽ, ഞങ്ങൾ എഴുതി അയയ്ക്കുന്ന അതേ കാര്യങ്ങൾ യൂദായുടെയും ശീലാസിന്റെയും വാമൊഴിയാലും കേട്ട് ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തുന്നതിന് ബർന്നബാസിന്റെയും പൗലോസിന്റെയും കൂടെ അവരെയും അയയ്ക്കുന്നു.
28 For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay upon you no burden heavier than these necessary requirements--
താഴെപ്പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങൾ ഒഴികെ മറ്റൊന്നും അടിച്ചേൽപ്പിച്ച് നിങ്ങളെ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടിക്കരുതെന്ന് പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവിനും ഞങ്ങൾക്കും തോന്നിയിരിക്കുന്നു:
29 You must abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from fornication. Keep yourselves clear of these things, and it will be well with you. Farewell."
വിഗ്രഹാർപ്പിതഭക്ഷണം, രക്തം, ശ്വാസംമുട്ടിച്ചു കൊന്നവ, ലൈംഗികാധർമം എന്നിവ നിങ്ങൾ വർജിക്കണം; ഈ കാര്യങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് ഒഴിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതു നല്ലത്. നിങ്ങൾക്കു ശുഭാശംസകൾ!
30 They, therefore, having been solemnly sent, came down to Antioch, where they called together the whole assembly and delivered the letter.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ വിടവാങ്ങി, അന്ത്യോക്യയിലെത്തി; സഭയെ കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി കത്തു കൊടുത്തു.
31 The people read it, and were delighted with the comfort it brought them.
ജനങ്ങൾ അതു വായിച്ച് അതിലെ പ്രോത്സാഹജനകമായ സന്ദേശംനിമിത്തം ആനന്ദിച്ചു.
32 And Judas and Silas, being themselves also Prophets, gave them a long and encouraging talk, and strengthened them in the faith.
പ്രവാചകന്മാർ ആയിരുന്ന യൂദായും ശീലാസും അനേകം വചനങ്ങളാൽ സഹോദരങ്ങളെ പ്രബോധിപ്പിക്കുകയും വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഉറപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
33 After spending some time there they received an affectionate farewell from the brethren to return to those who had sent them.
കുറെക്കാലംകൂടി അവിടെ താമസിച്ചശേഷം, തങ്ങളെ അയച്ച ജെറുശലേമിലെ സഹോദരങ്ങളുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് സമാധാനാശംസയോടെ സഹോദരന്മാർ അവരെ തിരികെ അയച്ചു.
എന്നാൽ, പൗലോസും ബർന്നബാസും അന്ത്യോക്യയിൽത്തന്നെ തുടർന്നു. അവിടെ അവരും അവരോടൊപ്പം മറ്റുപലരും കർത്താവിന്റെ വചനം പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും പ്രസംഗിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.
35 But Paul and Barnabas remained in Antioch, teaching and, in company with many others, telling the Good News of the Lord's Message.
36 After a while Paul said to Barnabas, "Suppose we now revisit the brethren in the various towns in which we have made known the Lord's Message--to see whether they are prospering!"
കുറെ നാളുകൾക്കുശേഷം പൗലോസ് ബർന്നബാസിനോട് പറഞ്ഞു, “നാം കർത്താവിന്റെ വചനം പ്രസംഗിച്ച പട്ടണങ്ങളിലെല്ലാം മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു സഹോദരങ്ങളെ സന്ദർശിക്കുകയും അവരുടെ ക്ഷേമം അന്വേഷിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യാം.”
37 Barnabas, however, was bent on taking with them John, whose other name was Mark,
മർക്കോസ് എന്നും പേരുള്ള യോഹന്നാനെയും തങ്ങളുടെകൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോകണമെന്നു ബർന്നബാസ് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
38 while Paul deemed it undesirable to have as their companion one who had deserted them in Pamphylia and had not gone on with them to the work.
എന്നാൽ, പ്രവർത്തനത്തിൽ തുടർന്നു പങ്കെടുക്കാതെ പംഫുല്യയിൽവെച്ച് അവരെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചുപോയ ഒരാളെ കൂടെക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നത് ഉചിതമല്ല എന്ന് പൗലോസ് അഭിപ്രായപ്പെട്ടു.
39 So there arose a serious disagreement between them, which resulted in their parting from one another, Barnabas taking Mark and setting sail for Cyprus.
അവർതമ്മിൽ ശക്തമായ അഭിപ്രായഭിന്നതയുണ്ടായിട്ട് പരസ്പരം വേർപിരിഞ്ഞു. ബർന്നബാസ് മർക്കോസിനെയും കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ട് സൈപ്രസിലേക്കു കപ്പലിൽ യാത്രയായി,
40 But Paul chose Silas as his travelling companion; and set out, after being commended by the brethren to the grace of the Lord;
എന്നാൽ പൗലോസ്, സഹോദരങ്ങളാൽ കർത്താവിന്റെ കൃപയിൽ ഭരമേൽപ്പിക്കപ്പെട്ട് ശീലാസിനെയുംകൂട്ടി യാത്രയായി.
41 and he passed through Syria and Cilicia, strengthening the Churches.
അദ്ദേഹം സിറിയയിലും കിലിക്യയിലും കൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ച് സഭകളെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൽ ഉറപ്പിച്ചു.
