2 Timothy 2
1 You then, my child, must be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Así que, hijo mío, sé fuerte en la gracia de Cristo Jesús.
2 All that you have been taught by me in the hearing of many witnesses, you must hand on to trusty men who shall themselves, in turn, be competent to instruct others also.
Toma todo lo que me escuchaste decir delante de muchos testigos y compártelo con personas fieles, que luego también las enseñen a otros.
3 As a good soldier of Christ Jesus accept your share of suffering.
Sufre conmigo como un buen soldado de Cristo Jesús.
4 Every one who serves as a soldier keeps himself from becoming entangled in the world's business--so that he may satisfy the officer who enlisted him.
Un soldado activo que no se enreda con los asuntos de la vida diaria. Uno que quiere agradar a quien lo reclutó.
5 And if any one takes part in an athletic contest, he gets no prize unless he obeys the rules.
Del mismo modo, los atletas que compiten en los juegos no ganan un premio si no siguen las normas.
6 The harvestman who labours in the field must be the first to get a share of the crop.
El granjero que hace todo el trabajo duro debe ser el primero en beneficiarse de la cosecha.
7 Mark well what I am saying: the Lord will give you discernment in everything.
Considera todo lo que te digo. Y el Señor te ayudará a comprender todas estas cosas.
8 Never forget that Jesus Christ has risen from among the dead and is a descendant of David, as is declared in the Good News which I preach.
Fija tu mente en Jesucristo, descendiente de David, que fue levantado de los muertos. Esta es mi buena noticia
9 For preaching the Good News I suffer, and am even put in chains, as if I were a criminal: yet the word of God is not imprisoned.
y estoy sufriendo en la cárcel como si fuese un criminal, pero la palabra de Dios no está en una cárcel.
10 For this reason I endure all things for the sake of God's own people; so that they also may obtain salvation--even the salvation which is in Christ Jesus--and with it eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
A pesar de todo esto, estoy dispuesto a continuar por la causa del pueblo de Dios para que puedan recibir la salvación de Cristo Jesús, que es su gloria eterna. (aiōnios g166)
11 Faithful is the saying: "If we died with Him, we shall also live with Him;
Este decir es sabio: “Si morimos con él, también viviremos con él;
12 "If we patiently endure pain, we shall also share His Kingship; "If we disown Him, He will also disown us;
si persistimos, también reinaremos con él; si lo negamos, él también nos negará.
13 "And even if our faith fails, He remains true--He cannot prove false to Himself."
Si somos infieles, él sigue siendo fiel, porque él no puede ser infiel consigo mismo”.
14 Bring all this to men's remembrances, solemnly charging them in the presence of God not to waste time in wrangling about mere words, a course which is altogether unprofitable and tends only to the ruin of the hearers.
Esas son las cosas que debes recordarle a la gente, diciéndoles ante Dios que no tengan discusiones vanas en cuanto a las palabras. Porque hacer esto solo hace daño a quien escucha.
15 Earnestly seek to commend yourself to God as a servant who, because of his straightforward dealing with the word of truth, has no reason to feel any shame.
Esfuérzate arduamente en poder presentarte ante Dios y ser aprobado por él. Sé un obrero que no tenga nada de qué avergonzarse, usando correctamente la palabra de verdad.
16 But from irreligious and frivolous talk hold aloof, for those who indulge in it will proceed from bad to worse in impiety,
Evita las conversaciones inútiles, pues los que hacen esto están lejos de Dios en su caminar.
17 and their teaching will spread like a running sore. Hymenaeus and Philetus are men of that stamp.
Sus enseñanzas son destructivas como la gangrena que destruye la carne que está sana. Así son Himeneo y Fileto.
18 In the matter of the truth they have gone astray, saying that the Resurrection is already past, and so they are overthrowing the faith of some.
Ellos se han desviado de la verdad al decir que la resurrección ya ocurrió, y esto ha destruido la fe de algunos.
19 Yet God's solid foundation stands unmoved, bearing this inscription, "The Lord knows those who really belong to Him." And this also, "Let every one who names the Name of the Lord renounce all wickedness."
Pero el fundamento sólido y fiel de Dios se mantiene firme, con esta inscripción: “El Señor conoce a los que son suyos”, y “Todo el que invoque el nombre del Señor está apartado de todo mal”.
20 Now in a great house there are not only articles of gold and silver, but also others of wood and of earthenware; and some are for specially honourable, and others for common use.
Una casa majestuosa no solo tiene copas y tazas de oro y plata. También tiene algunas de madera y barro. Algunas son para uso especial; otras para funciones más comunes.
21 If therefore a man keeps himself clear of these latter, he himself will be for specially honourable use, consecrated, fit for the Master's service, and fully equipped for every good work.
Así que si te despojas de lo malo, serás una vasija especial, que es santa y única, útil para el Señor, lista para hacer lo bueno.
22 Keep a strong curb, however, on your youthful cravings; and strive for integrity, good faith, love, peace, in company with all who pray to the Lord with pure hearts.
Huye de todo lo que incite tus deseos juveniles. Busca las cosas justas y rectas, busca el amor y la paz así como a los que son cristianos y verdaderos.
23 But avoid foolish discussions with ignorant men, knowing--as you do--that these lead to quarrels;
Evita las discusiones inmaduras y necias, pues tú sabes que esto solo conduce a contiendas.
24 and a bondservant of the Lord must not quarrel, but must be inoffensive towards all men, a skilful teacher, and patient under wrongs.
Porque el ministro del Señor no debe entrar en contiendas, sino ser amable con todos, capaz de enseñar, paciente,
25 He must speak in a gentle tone when correcting the errors of opponents, in the hope that God will at last give them repentance, for them to come to a full knowledge of the truth
mansos para corregir a los que se oponen. Porque puede ser que a esos Dios les ayude a arrepentirse y entender la verdad.
26 and recover sober-mindedness and freedom from the Devil's snare, though they are now entrapped by him to do his will.
Así podrán entrar en razón y escapar de la trampa del diablo. Porque él los ha capturado para que hagan su voluntad.
