1 Timothy 2
1 I exhort then, first of all, that supplications, prayers, intercessions and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men;
IO esorto adunque, innanzi ad ogni cosa, che si facciano preghiere, orazioni, richieste, [e] ringraziamenti per tutti gli uomini.
2 including kings and all who are in high station, in order that we may live peaceful and tranquil lives with all godliness and gravity.
Pei re, e per tutti quelli che sono in dignità; acciocchè possiam menare una tranquilla e quieta vita, in ogni pietà ed onestà.
3 This is right, and is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour,
Perciocchè quest'[è] buono ed accettevole nel cospetto di Dio, nostro Salvatore.
4 who is willing for all mankind to be saved and come to a full knowledge of the truth.
Il quale vuole che tutti gli uomini sieno salvati, e che vengano alla conoscenza della verità.
5 For there is but one God and but one Mediator between God and men--Christ Jesus, Himself man;
Perciocchè [v'è] un [sol] Dio, ed anche un [sol] Mediatore di Dio, e degli uomini: Cristo Gesù uomo.
6 who gave Himself as the redemption price for all--a fact testified to at its own appointed time,
Il quale ha dato sè stesso per prezzo di riscatto per tutti; [secondo] la testimonianza [riserbata] a' propri tempi.
7 and of which I have been appointed a herald and an Apostle (I am speaking the truth: it is not a fiction), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
A che io sono stato costituito banditore, ed apostolo (io dico verità in Cristo, non mento), dottor de' Gentili in fede, e verità.
8 So then I would have the men everywhere pray, lifting to God holy hands which are unstained with anger or strife;
Io voglio adunque che gli uomini facciano orazione in ogni luogo, alzando le mani pure, senza ira e disputazione.
9 and I would have the women dress becomingly, with modesty and self-control, not with plaited hair or gold or pearls or costly clothes,
SIMIGLIANTEMENTE ancora che le donne si adornino d'abito onesto, con verecondia e modestia; non di trecce, o d' oro, o di perle, o di vestimenti preziosi;
10 but--as befits women making a claim to godliness--with the ornament of good works.
ma come si conviene a donne che fanno professione di servire a Dio per opere buone.
11 A woman should quietly learn from others with entire submissiveness.
La donna impari con silenzio, in ogni soggezione.
12 I do not permit a woman to teach, nor have authority over a man, but she must remain silent.
Ma io non permetto alla donna d'insegnare, nè d'usare autorità sopra il marito; ma [ordino] che stia in silenzio.
13 For Adam was formed first, and then Eve;
Perciocchè Adamo fu creato il primo, e poi Eva.
14 and Adam was not deceived, but his wife was thoroughly deceived, and so became involved in transgression.
E Adamo non fu sedotto; ma la donna, essendo stata sedotta, fu in [cagion di] trasgressione.
15 Yet a woman will be brought safely through childbirth if she and her husband continue to live in faith and love and growing holiness, with habitual self-restraint.
Ma pure sarà salvata, partorendo figliuoli, se saranno perseverate in fede, e carità, e santificazione, con onestà.
