1 Peter 1
1 Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ: To God's own people scattered over the earth, who are living as foreigners in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Roman Asia, and Bithynia,
Pierre, Apôtre de Jésus-Christ, aux étrangers qui êtes dispersés dans le pays du Pont, en Galatie, en Cappadoce, en Asie, et en Bithynie,
2 chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, through the sanctifying work of the Spirit, with a view to their obedience and to their being sprinkled with the blood of Jesus Christ. May more and more grace and peace be granted to you.
Elus selon la prescience de Dieu le Père, par l'Esprit sanctifiant, pour obéir à Jésus-Christ et pour obtenir l'aspersion de son sang: que la grâce et la paix vous soient multipliées.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who in His great mercy has begotten us anew to an ever-living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Béni [soit] Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, qui par sa grande miséricorde nous a régénérés pour avoir une espérance vive, par la résurrection de Jésus-Christ d'entre les morts;
4 to an inheritance imperishable, undefiled and unfading, which has been reserved in Heaven for you,
D'obtenir l'héritage incorruptible, qui ne se peut souiller, ni flétrir, conservé dans les cieux pour nous,
5 whom God in His power is guarding through faith for a salvation that even now stands ready for unveiling at the End of the Age.
Qui sommes gardés par la puissance de Dieu, par la foi, afin que nous obtenions le salut, qui est prêt d'être révélé au dernier temps.
6 Rejoice triumphantly in the prospect of this, even if now, for a short time, you are compelled to sorrow amid various trials.
En quoi vous vous réjouissez, quoique vous soyez maintenant affligés pour un peu de temps par diverses tentations, vu que cela est convenable;
7 The sorrow comes in order that the testing of your faith--being more precious than that of gold, which perishes and yet is proved by fire--may be found to result in praise and glory and honour at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
Afin que l'épreuve de votre foi, beaucoup plus précieuse que l'or, qui périt, et qui toutefois est éprouvé par le feu, vous tourne à louange, à honneur, et à gloire, quand Jésus-Christ sera révélé;
8 Him you love, though your eyes have never looked on Him. In Him, though at present you cannot see Him, you nevertheless trust, and triumph with a joy which is unspeakable and is crowned with glory,
Lequel, quoique vous ne l'ayez point vu, vous aimez; en qui, quoique maintenant vous ne le voyiez point, vous croyez, et vous vous réjouissez d'une joie ineffable et glorieuse;
9 while you are securing as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls.
Remportant la fin de votre foi, [savoir] le salut des âmes.
10 There were Prophets who earnestly inquired about that salvation, and closely searched into it--even those who spoke beforehand of the grace which was to come to you.
Duquel salut les Prophètes qui ont prophétisé de la grâce qui était réservée pour vous, se sont enquis, et l'ont diligemment recherché;
11 They were eager to know the time which the Spirit of Christ within them kept indicating, or the characteristics of that time, when they solemnly made known beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ and the glories which would follow.
Recherchant soigneusement quand, et en quel temps, l'Esprit [prophétique] de Christ qui [était] en eux, rendant par avance témoignage, déclarait les souffrances qui devaient arriver à Christ, et la gloire qui les devait suivre.
12 To them it was revealed that they were serving not themselves but you, when they foretold the very things which have now been openly declared to you by those who, having been taught by the Holy Spirit which had been sent from Heaven, brought you the Good News. Angels long to stoop and look into these things.
Et il leur fut révélé que ce n'était pas pour eux-mêmes, mais pour nous, qu'ils administraient ces choses, lesquelles ceux qui vous ont prêché l'Evangile, par le Saint-Esprit envoyé du Ciel, vous ont maintenant annoncées, et dans lesquelles les Anges désirent de regarder jusqu'au fond.
13 Therefore gird up your minds and fix your hopes calmly and unfalteringly upon the boon that is soon to be yours, at the re-appearing of Jesus Christ.
Vous donc, ayant les reins de votre entendement ceints, et étant sobres, espérez parfaitement en la grâce qui vous est présentée, jusqu'à ce que Jésus-Christ soit révélé;
14 And, since you delight in obedience, do not shape your lives by the cravings which used to dominate you in the time of your ignorance,
Comme des enfants obéissants, ne vous conformant point à vos convoitises d'autrefois, pendant votre ignorance.
15 but--in imitation of the holy One who has called you--you also must be holy in all your habits of life.
Mais comme celui qui vous a appelés est saint, vous aussi de même soyez saints dans toute [votre] conversation;
16 Because it stands written, "You are to be holy, because I am holy."
Parce qu'il est écrit: soyez saints, car je suis saint.
17 And if you address as your Father Him who judges impartially in accordance with each man's actions, then spend in fear the time of your stay here on earth,
Et si vous invoquez comme votre Père celui qui sans avoir égard à l'apparence des personnes, juge selon l'œuvre d'un chacun, conduisez-vous avec crainte durant le temps de votre séjour temporel;
18 knowing, as you do, that it was not with a ransom of perishable wealth, such as silver or gold, that you were set free from your frivolous habits of life which had been handed down to you from your forefathers,
Sachant que vous avez été rachetés de votre vaine conduite, qui vous avait été enseignée par vos pères, non point par des choses corruptibles, comme par argent, ou par or;
19 but with the precious blood of Christ--as of an unblemished and spotless lamb.
Mais par le précieux sang de Christ, comme de l'agneau sans défaut et sans tache,
20 He was pre-destined indeed to this work, even before the creation of the world, but has been plainly manifested in these last days for the sake of you who, through Him,
Déjà ordonné avant la fondation du monde, mais manifesté dans les derniers temps pour vous;
21 are faithful to God, who raised Him from among the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are resting upon God.
Qui par lui croyez en Dieu qui l'a ressuscité des morts, et qui lui a donné la gloire, afin que votre foi et votre espérance fussent en Dieu.
22 Now that, through your obedience to the truth, you have purified your souls for cherishing sincere brotherly love, you must love another heartily and fervently.
Ayant donc purifié vos âmes en obéissant à la vérité par le Saint-Esprit, afin que vous ayez une amitié fraternelle qui soit sans hypocrisie, aimez-vous l'un l'autre tendrement d'un cœur pur.
23 For you have been begotten again by God's ever-living and enduring word from a germ not of perishable, but of imperishable life. (aiōn g165)
Vu que vous avez été régénérés, non par une semence corruptible, mais [par une semence] incorruptible, [savoir] par la parole de Dieu, vivante, et permanente à toujours. (aiōn g165)
24 "All mankind resemble the herbage, and all their beauty is like its flowers. The herbage dries up, and its flowers drop off;
Parce que toute chair est comme l'herbe, et toute la gloire de l'homme comme la fleur de l'herbe; l'herbe est séchée, et sa fleur est tombée;
