< 1 Peter 3 >
1 Married women, in the same way, be submissive to your husbands, so that even if some of them disbelieve the Message, they may, apart from the Message, be won over by the daily life of their wives, after watching your daily life--
Te vanbangla huta rhoek te a va rhoek taengah boengai uh saeh. Te daengah ni khat khat loh olka te aek mai cakhaw a yuu rhoek kah omih rhangneh amih te ol mueh la a dang uh eh.
2 so full of reverence, and so blameless!
Nangmih kah omih te rhihnah neh a cuem la hmuh uh saeh.
3 Your adornment ought not to be a merely outward thing--one of plaiting the hair, putting on jewelry, or wearing beautiful dresses.
Nangmih kah a hmanhu ah sam toel tih sui, Diklai himbai, pueinak he tah thoeihcamnah la om boel saeh.
4 Instead of that, it should be a new nature within--the imperishable ornament of a gentle and peaceful spirit, which is indeed precious in the sight of God.
Tedae hlang thinko kah a huephael ah aka kuei mueihla neh muelhtuet, dingsuek la thoeihcamuh. Te tah Pathen hmaiah a phu om.
5 For in ancient times also this was the way the holy women who set their hopes upon God used to adorn themselves, being submissive to their husbands.
Pathen aka ngaiuep noek huta cim rhoek khaw a va rhoek taengah boe a ngai uh nen ni amamih te a thoeihcam uh van.
6 Thus, for instance, Sarah obeyed Abraham, acknowledging his authority over her. And you have become Sarah's children if you do what is right and permit nothing whatever to terrify you.
Sarah loh Abraham taengah ol a ngai vanbangla, anih te boeipa la a khue. A ca la na om uh dongah a thensai te rhih ham om pawt tih letnah khaw om pawh.
7 Married men, in the same way, live with your wives with a clear recognition of the fact that they are weaker than you. Yet, since you are heirs with them of God's free gift of Life, treat them with honour; so that your prayers may not be hindered.
8 In conclusion, all of you should be of one mind, quick to sympathize, kind to the brethren, tenderhearted, lowly-minded,
A cuinah la, thikat la, hlang rhen kho neh, thintlo koeina, sitloh thimhalh, thindo kodo te boeih khueh uh laeh.
9 not requiting evil with evil nor abuse with abuse, but, on the contrary, giving a blessing in return, because a blessing is what you have been called by God to inherit.
A boethae te boethae neh, thuithetnah te thuithetnah neh thuung uh boeh. Tedae a khuplat la uem uh, te ham te n'khue daengah ni yoethennah te na pang uh eh.
10 For "He who wishes to be well-satisfied with life and see happy days-- let him restrain his tongue from evil, and his lips from deceitful words;
Hingnah te aka lungnah tih khohnin then hmuh ham aka ngaih long tah a lai te a thae khui lamkah cuep saeh. A hmui te khaw tuengkhuepnah thui sak boel saeh.
11 Let him turn from evil, and do good; Let him inquire for peace and go in pursuit of it.
Te dongah a thae te rhael saeh lamtah a then te saii saeh. Rhoepnah te toem saeh lamtah hnuktlak saeh.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears are open to their supplication; but the face of the Lord is set against evil-doers."
Boeipa mik loh aka dueng te a hmuhdam tih amih kah rhenbihnah benla hna a kaeng. Tedae thae aka saii te Boeipa kah maelhmai loh a mangthong tak.
13 And who will be able to harm you, if you show yourselves zealous for that which is good?
A then dongah aka hmae la na om uh atah u long nangmih te n'hnaep eh?
14 But even if you suffer for righteousness' sake, you are to be envied. So do not be alarmed by their threats, nor troubled;
Tedae duengnah kongah na patang uh mai atah na yoethen uh. Tedae amih lamkah rhihnah te rhih uh boeh, thuen uh boeh.
15 but in your hearts consecrate Christ as Lord, being always ready to make your defence to any one who asks from you a reason for the hope which you cherish.
Tedae na thinko ah Khrih te Boeipa la hinyah uh. Nangmih khuikah ngaiuepnah kongah olka nangmih aka dawt boeih te olthungnah ham sikim la om yoeyah uh.
16 Yet argue modestly and cautiously, keeping your consciences free from guilt, so that, when you are spoken against, those who slander your good Christian lives may be put to shame.
Tedae nangmih aka hnaep tih n'yan uh vaengah te Khrih ah omih then neh yahpoh sak ham a then la muelhtuetnah, rhihnah te mingcimnah neh khueh uh.
17 For it is better that you should suffer for doing right, if such be God's will, than for doing evil;
A thensai he then ta. Pathen kah kongaih loh a ngaih atah thae lakah patang he then ngai.
18 because Christ also once for all died for sins, the innocent One for the guilty many, in order to bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit,
Halang yueng la hlang dueng, Khrih tah tholhnah kongah vaikhat la patang coeng. Te daengah ni nangmih te Pathen taengla n'thak eh. Pumsa ah duek ngawn cakhaw mueihla ah hing coeng.
19 in which He also went and proclaimed His Message to the spirits that were in prison,
Te nen te thongim khuiah khaw cet tih mueihla rhoek taengah a hoe coeng.
20 who in ancient times had been disobedient, while God's longsuffering was patiently waiting in the days of Noah during the building of the Ark, in which a few persons--eight in number--were brought safely through the water.
Noah tue kah sangpho a rhoekbah vaengah thinsennah neh Pathen aka lamtawn loh ana aek noek coeng. Te khuiah a sii ngai parhet tah tui lamloh aka daem hinglu la ana om.
21 And, corresponding to that figure, the water of baptism now saves you--not the washing off of material defilement, but the craving of a good conscience after God--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
Te tah baptisma dongah aka daem nangmih kah mueimae la om van coeng. Pumsa kah a tihnai capitnah ke pawt tih Jesuh Khrih kah thohkoepnah dongah a then la mingcimnah neh Pathen taengah m'bih ke ni.
22 who is at God's right hand, having gone into Heaven, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him.
Amah tah Pathen kah bantang ah om. Vaan ah a pongpa vaengah puencawn rhoek, saithainah neh thaomnah te amah taengah boe a ngai sak.
