< 1 Corinthians 11 >
1 Be imitators of me, in so far as I in turn am an imitator of Christ.
Unu bụrụ ndị na-eṅomi m, dịka m si eṅomi Kraịst.
2 Now I commend you for remembering me in everything, and because you hold fast truths and practices precisely as I have taught them to you.
Ana m aja unu nʼihi na unu na-echeta m nʼihi niile, nakwa nʼihi na unu na-ejisikwa ozizi ahụ enyere unu nʼaka ike, dịka m nyere ha nʼaka unu idebe.
3 I would have you know, however, that of every man, Christ is the Head, that of a woman her husband is the Head, and that God is Christ's Head.
4 A man who wears a veil when praying or prophesying dishonors his Head;
Nwoke ọbụla kpuchiri isi ya mgbe ọ na-ekpe ekpere maọbụ na-ebu amụma na-emenye isi ya ihere.
5 but a woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her Head, for it is exactly the same as if she had her hair cut short.
Ma nwanyị ọbụla na-ekpe ekpere maọbụ na-ebu amụma, ma o kpuchighị isi ya, na-emenye isi ya ihe ihere, nʼihi na ọ dịka nwanyị kpụchara isi ya.
6 If a woman will not wear a veil, let her also cut off her hair. But since it is a dishonor to a woman to have her hair cut off or her head shaved, let her wear a veil.
7 For a man ought not to have a veil on his head, since he is the image and glory of God; while woman is the glory of man.
Ma nwoke ekwesighị ikpuchi isi ya, nʼihi na nwoke bụ onyinyo na otuto nke Chineke, ebe nwanyị bụ otuto nke nwoke.
8 Man does not take his origin from woman, but woman takes hers from man.
9 For man was not created for woman's sake, but woman for man's.
E keghị nwoke maka nwanyị, ma e kere nwanyị maka nwoke.
10 That is why a woman ought to have on her head a symbol of subjection, because of the angels.
Nʼihi nke a, nwanyị kwesiri ikpuchi isi ya igosi na ọ nọ nʼokpuru di ya, maka ndị mmụọ ozi.
11 Yet, in the Lord, woman is not independent of man nor man independent of woman.
12 For just as woman originates from man, so also man comes into existence through woman, but everything springs originally from God.
Nʼihi na dịka nwanyị siri na nwoke pụta na mbụ, otu a ka a na-esitekwa nʼahụ nwanyị mụpụta nwoke.
13 Judge of this for your own selves: is it seemly for a woman to pray to God when she is unveiled?
Achọrọ m ka unu tule ihe a nʼonwe unu, ọ dị mma ka nwanyị ghebe isi ya oghe mgbe ọ na-ekpe ekpere nye Chineke?
14 Does not Nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair it is a dishonor to him,
Unu matakwara nke ọma na ọ bụ ihe ihere na nwoke ga-ebu agịrị isi dị ogologo.
15 but that if a woman has long hair it is her glory, because her hair was given her for a covering?
Ma ọ bụrụ na nwanyị enwee agịrị isi dị ogologo ọ bụ ihe otuto nye ya nʼihi na e nyere ya agịrị isi dị ogologo ka ọ bụrụ ihe mkpuchi.
16 But if any one is inclined to be contentious on the point, we have no such custom, nor have the Churches of God.
Ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla na-arụ ụka banyere omenaala nke a, anyị onwe anyị na nzukọ Chineke niile enweghị omenaala ọzọ banyere nke a.
17 But while giving you these instructions, there is one thing I cannot praise--your meeting together, with bad rather than good results.
Nʼime ntụziaka ndị a, enweghị m otuto nye unu nʼihi na mgbe unu zukọtara omume unu na-eweta ihe ọjọọ karịa ihe ọma.
18 for, in the first place, when you meet as a Church, there are divisions among you. This is what I am told, and I believe that there is some truth in it.
Na mmalite, ihe m na-anụ bụ na mgbe niile unu zukọrọ dịka chọọchị, ịrụ ụka nke na-ebute nkewa na-adị nʼetiti unu. E kwenyekwara m na ụfọdụ ihe ndị a m nụrụ bụ eziokwu.
19 For there must of necessity be differences of opinion among you, in order that it may be plainly seen who are the men of sterling worth among you.
Nʼezie ụdị nkewa dị otu a aghaghị ịdị nʼetiti unu ka e nwee ike mara ndị Chineke nabatara.
20 When, however, you meet in one place, there is no eating the Supper of the Lord;
Mgbe unu zukọtara, ọ bụghị nri anyasị nke Onyenwe anyị ka unu na-eri.
21 for it is his own supper of which each of you is in a hurry to partake, and one eats like a hungry man, while another has already drunk to excess.
Nʼihi na mgbe unu na-eri nri, ụfọdụ nʼime unu na-eri nri anyasị nke aka ha. Nke mere, nʼotu onye na-anọ agụụ ebe onye ọzọ na-aṅụbigakwa mmanya oke.
22 Why, have you no homes in which to eat and drink? Or do you wish to show your contempt for the Church of God and make those who have no homes feel ashamed? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you? In this matter I certainly do not praise you.
A ga-akpọ nke a gịnị? Aga m eto unu maka nke a? Agaghị m eto unu maka nke a.
23 For it was from the Lord that I received the facts which, in turn, I handed on to you; how that the Lord Jesus, on the night He was to be betrayed, took some bread,
Nʼihi na ihe m ziri unu bụ ihe Onyenwe anyị ziri m. Nʼabalị ụbọchị ahụ a rara ya nye, Onyenwe anyị Jisọs weere otu ogbe achịcha.
24 and after giving thanks He broke it and said, "This is my body which is about to be broken for you. Do this in memory of me."
Mgbe o nyechara ekele, ọ nyawara ya sị, “Nke a bụ ahụ m nke a na-enye maka unu. Na-emenụ nke a iji cheta m.”
25 In the same way, when the meal was over, He also took the cup. "This cup," He said, "is the new Covenant of which my blood is the pledge. Do this, every time that you drink it, in memory of me."
Nʼụzọ dị otu a kwa, o bulitere otu iko mmanya mgbe ha risiri nri sị, “Iko a bụ ọgbụgba ndụ ọhụrụ nʼọbara m. Oge ọbụla unu na-aṅụ ya, na-emenụ nke a iji na-echeta m.”
26 For every time that you eat this bread and drink from the cup, you are proclaiming the Lord's death--until He returns.
Nʼihi na mgbe ọbụla unu na-eri achịcha ahụ na-aṅụkwa iko a, unu na-ekwusa ọnwụ Onyenwe anyị ruo mgbe ọ ga-abịa ọzọ.
27 Whoever, therefore, in an unworthy manner, eats the bread or drinks from the cup of the Lord sins against the body and blood of the Lord.
Ya mere, ọ bụrụ na onye ọbụla erie achịcha Onyenwe anyị maọbụ ṅụọ iko Onyenwe anyị nʼụzọ na-ekwesighị ekwesi, onye ahụ na-emehie megide anụ ahụ Onyenwe anyị na ọbara Onyenwe anyị.
28 But let a man examine himself, and, having done that, then let him eat the bread and drink from the cup.
Ọ bụ nke a mere o ji bụrụ ihe dị mkpa ka onye ọbụla nyochaa onwe ya nke ọma tupu o rie achịcha ahụ maọbụ ṅụọ iko ahụ.
29 For any one who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgement to himself, if he fails to estimate the body aright.
Nʼihi na onye ọbụla na-eri achịcha ahụ maọbụ ṅụọ site nʼiko ahụ na-echeghị echiche, ọ na-eri, na-aṅụtakwara onwe ya ikpe ọmụma, ma ọ bụrụ na ọ tuleghị uche banyere ahụ Kraịst.
30 That is why many among you are sickly and out of health, and why not a few die.
Ọ bụ nke a mere ọtụtụ nʼime unu ji bụrụ ndị ahụ na-esighị ike, ndị nọ nʼọrịa na ndị dara nʼụra ọnwụ.
31 If, however, we estimated ourselves aright, we should not be judged.
Ọ bụrụ na anyị enyochaa onwe anyị nke ọma, anyị agaghị adaba nʼikpe.
32 But when we are judged by the Lord, chastisement follows, to save us from being condemned along with the world.
Ma otu ọ dị, mgbe Onyenwe anyị na-ama anyị ikpe nʼụzọ dị otu a, a na-ezi anyị otu e si ebi ezi ndụ nʼihi ka a ghara ịmakọ anyị na ndị ụwa ikpe.
33 Therefore, brethren, when you come together for this meal, wait for one another.
Ya mere, ụmụnna m, mgbe unu bịakọtara iri nri, cherenụ ibe unu.
34 If any one is hungry, let him eat at home; so that your coming together may not lead to judgement. The other matters I will deal with whenever I come.
