1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul, called to be an Apostle of Christ Jesus through the will of God--and our brother Sosthenes:
Si Pablo, gitawag ni Cristo Jesus aron mahimong usa ka apostol pinaagi sa kabubut-on sa Dios, ug kang Sostines nga atong igsoon,
2 To the Church of God in Corinth, men and women consecrated in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all in every place who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ-- their Lord as well as ours.
ngadto sa simbahan sa Dios diha sa Corinto, niadtong mga hinalad na kang Jesu-Cristo, nga gitawag ingon nga balaang katawhan. Nagasulat usab kami niadtong tanang nagtawag sa ngalan sa atong Ginoong Jesu-Cristo sa matag dapit, ang ilang Ginoo ug atua usab.
3 May grace and peace be granted to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Hinaot nga ang grasya ug kalinaw maanaa kaninyo gikan sa Dios nga atong Amahan ug kang Ginoong Jesu-Cristo.
4 I thank my God continually on your behalf for the grace of God bestowed on you in Christ Jesus--
Nagapasalamat ako kanunay sa akong Dios alang kaninyo tungod sa grasya sa Dios nga gihatag kaninyo ni Cristo Jesus.
5 that you have been so richly blessed in Him, with readiness of speech and fulness of knowledge.
Gihimo niya kamong mga adunahan sa tanang paagi, sa tanang pagpanulti ug uban sa tanang kahibalo,
6 Thus my testimony as to the Christ has been confirmed in your experience,
sama sa pagpamatuod mahitungod kang Cristo nga gipamatud-an ingon nga tinuod taliwala kaninyo.
7 so that there is no gift of God in which you consciously come short while patiently waiting for the reappearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Busa wala kamo makulangi sa espirituhanong mga gasa samtang naghinamhinam kamo nga naghulat sa pagpadayag sa atong Ginoong Jesu-Cristo.
8 who will also keep you stedfast to the very End, so that you will be free from reproach on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Pagalig-onon usab niya kamo hangtod sa kataposan, aron nga maputli kamo sa adlaw sa atong Ginoong Jesu-Cristo.
9 God is ever true to His promises, and it was by Him that you were, one and all, called into fellowship with his Son Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Matinud-anon ang Dios nga nagtawag kaninyo ngadto sa pagpakighiusa sa iyang Anak, nga si Jesu-Cristo nga atong Ginoo.
10 Now I entreat you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to cultivate a spirit of harmony--all of you--and that there be no divisions among you, but rather a perfect union through your having one mind and one judgement.
Karon giawhag ko kamo, mga kaigsoonan, pinaagi sa ngalan sa atong Ginoong Jesu-Cristo, nga magkauyon na kamong tanan, ug nga walay pagkabahinbahin taliwala kaninyo. Giawhag ko kamo nga maghiusa sa samang hunahuna ug pinaagi sa samang katuyoan.
11 For I have been distinctly informed, my brethren, about you by Chloe's people, that there are dissensions among you.
Kay nagtaho kanako ang katawhan ni Cloe nga adunay panaglalis diha kaninyo.
12 What I mean is that each of you is a partisan. One man says "I belong to Paul;" another "I belong to Apollos;" a third "I belong to Peter;" a fourth "I belong to Christ."
Ang akong ipasabot mao kini: Ang matag usa kaninyo nagaingon nga, “Iya ako ni Pablo,” o “Iya ako ni Apollos,” o “Iya ako ni Cefas,” o “Iya ako ni Cristo.”
13 Is the Christ in fragments? Is it Paul who was crucified on your behalf? Or were you baptized to be Paul's adherents?
Nabahin ba gud si Cristo? Gilansang ba sa krus si Pablo alang kaninyo? Gibawtismohan ba kamo sa ngalan ni Pablo?
14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius--
Nagpasalamat ako sa Dios nga wala akoy gibawtismohan bisan usa kaninyo, gawas kang Crispo ug Gayo.
15 for fear people should say that you were baptized to be my adherents.
Ingon kini niini aron nga walay makasulti nga gibawtismohan kamo sa akong ngalan.
16 I did, however, baptize Stephanas' household also: but I do not think that I baptized any one else.
(Gibawtismohan ko usab diay ang panimalay ni Stefanas. Human niana, wala na ako masayod kung may nabawtismohan pa ba ako nga lain.)
17 Christ did not send me to baptize, but to proclaim the Good News; and not in merely wise words--lest the Cross of Christ should be deprived of its power.
Kay wala ako gipadala ni Cristo aron sa pagbawtismo kondili aron sa pagsangyaw sa ebanghelyo. Wala niya ako gipadala aron sa pagsangyaw sa mga pulong nga inubanan sa tawhanon nga kaalam, aron dili gayod mawad-an ug gahom ang krus ni Cristo.
18 For the Message of the Cross is foolishness to those who are on the way to perdition, but it is the power of God to those whom He is saving.
Kay ang mensahe mahitungod sa krus binuang alang niadtong himalatyon na. Apan niadtong mga linuwas sa Dios, mao kini ang gahom sa Dios.
19 For so it stands written, "I will exhibit the nothingness of the wisdom of the wise, and the intelligence of the intelligent I will bring to nought."
Kay nahisulat naman kini, “Pagalaglagon ko ang kaalam sa mga maalamon. Pagapakyason ko ang pagpanabot sa nagpakamanggialamon.”
20 Where is your wise man? Where your expounder of the Law? Where your investigator of the questions of this present age? Has not God shown the world's wisdom to be utter foolishness? (aiōn g165)
Hain naman ang tawong manggialamon? Hain naman ang manunulat? Hain naman ang mga tawong tiglantugi niining kalibotana? Dili ba gihimo man sa Dios nga kabuang ang kaalam niining kalibotana? (aiōn g165)
21 For after the world by its wisdom--as God in His wisdom had ordained--had failed to gain the knowledge of God, God was pleased, by the apparent foolishness of the Message which we preach, to save those who accepted it.
Sanglit ang kaalam niining kalibotana wala makaila sa Dios, gikahimut-an sa Dios ang pagluwas niadtong mituo kaniya pinaagi sa kabuang nga pagsangyaw.
22 Seeing that Jews demand miracles, and Greeks go in search of wisdom,
Kay nangayo ang mga Judio sa mga milagrosong mga ilhanan, ug ang mga Griyego nangita ug kaalam.
23 while we proclaim a Christ who has been crucified--to the Jews a stumbling-block, to Gentiles foolishness,
Apan among gisangyaw si Cristo nga gilansang sa krus, usa ka kapandolan sa mga Judio ug binuang ngadto sa mga Griyego.
24 but to those who have received the Call, whether Jews or Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
Apan alang niadtong tinawag sa Dios, mga Judio ug Griyego, gisangyaw namo si Cristo ingon nga gahom ug kaalam sa Dios.
25 Because that which the world deems foolish in God is wiser than men's wisdom, and that which it deems feeble in God is mightier than men's might.
Kay ang giingon nga binuang sa Dios mas labaw pang maalamon kaysa sa mga tawo, ug ang kahuyang sa Dios labaw pang kusgan kaysa sa mga tawo.
26 For consider, brethren, God's call to you. Not many who are wise with merely human wisdom, not many of position and influence, not many of noble birth have been called.
Susiha ang inyong pagkatinawag, mga igsoon. Dili daghan kaninyo ang maalamon pinaagi sa sukaranan sa mga tawo. Dili daghan kaninyo ang gamhanan. Dili usab daghan kaninyo ang may halangdon nga pagkatawo.
27 But God has chosen the things which the world regards as foolish, in order to put its wise men to shame; and God has chosen the things which the world regards as destitute of influence, in order to put its powerful things to shame;
Apan gipili sa Dios ang gipakabuang nga mga butang sa kalibotan aron pakaulawan ang mga maalamon. Gipili sa Dios ang huyang dinhi sa kalibotan aron pakaulawan kung unsa ang kusgan.
28 and the things which the world regards as base, and those which it sets utterly at nought--things that have no existence--God has chosen in order to reduce to nothing things that do exist;
Gipili sa Dios kung unsa ang gipakaubos ug ang tinamay sa kalibotan. Gipili gani niya ang mga butang nga tinamod nga wala nay bili, aron himoong walay bili ang mga butang nga gitamod ingon nga bililhon.
29 to prevent any mortal man from boasting in the presence of God.
Gibuhat niya kini aron walay usa nga makabaton ug hinungdan sa pagpasigarbo sa iyang atubangan.
30 But you--and it is all God's doing--are in Christ Jesus: He has become for us a wisdom which is from God, consisting of righteousness and sanctification and deliverance;
Tungod sa gibuhat sa Dios, anaa na kamo karon kang Cristo Jesus, nga nahimo natong kaalam gikan sa Dios. Nahimo siyang atong pagkamatarong, pagkabalaan ug pagkatinubos.
31 in order that it may be as Scripture says, "He who boasts--let his boast be in the Lord."
Tungod niini, ingon sa gisulti sa kasulatan, “Tugoti nga ang nagpasigarbo, magpasigarbo diha sa Ginoo.”
