Zephaniah 2
1 Assemble yourselves, yes, assemble, O nation not desired;
Adunaţi-vă, da, adunaţi-vă, naţiune nedorită;
2 Before the decree bringeth forth, [before] the day passeth as the chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD cometh upon you, before the day of the LORD'S anger cometh upon you.
Înainte de a se da hotărârea, înainte ca ziua să treacă precum pleava, înainte ca mânia înverşunată a DOMNULUI să vină asupra voastră, înainte ca ziua mâniei DOMNULUI să vină asupra voastră.
3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, who have performed his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye will be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.
Căutaţi-l pe DOMNUL, voi toţi cei blânzi ai pământului, care aţi lucrat judecata lui; căutaţi dreptatea, căutaţi blândeţea, poate că veţi fi ascunşi în ziua mâniei DOMNULUI.
4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
Fiindcă Gaza va fi părăsită şi Ascalonul va fi un pustiu, ei vor alunga Asdodul la amiază şi Ecronul va fi dezrădăcinat.
5 Woe to the inhabitants of the sea coasts, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD [is] against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.
Vai locuitorilor ţărmului mării, naţiunea cheretiţilor! Cuvântul DOMNULUI este împotriva voastră; Canaane, ţara filistenilor, te voi nimici până nu va mai fi niciun locuitor.
6 And the sea coast shall be dwellings [and] cottages for shepherds, and folds for flocks.
Şi ţărmul mării va fi locaşuri şi colibe pentru păstori şi staule pentru turme.
7 And the coasts shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed upon them: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God will visit them, and turn away their captivity.
Şi ţărmul va fi pentru rămăşiţa casei lui Iuda; ei se vor hrăni de acolo; ei se vor culca seara în casele Ascalonului, pentru că DOMNUL Dumnezeul lor îi va cerceta şi îi va întoarce din captivitatea lor.
8 I have heard the reproach of Moab, and the revilings of the children of Ammon, by which they have reproached my people, and magnified [themselves] against their border.
Am auzit ocara Moabului şi dispreţuirile copiilor lui Amon, cu care au ocărât poporul meu şi s-au preamărit peste graniţa lor.
9 Therefore [as] I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, [even] the breeding of nettles, and salt-pits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall lay them waste, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
De aceea, precum eu trăiesc, spune DOMNUL oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel, negreşit Moabul va fi ca Sodoma şi copiii lui Amon ca Gomora, locul înmulţirii urzicilor şi ocnelor de sare şi o pustiire veşnică, restul poporului meu îi va prăda, şi rămăşiţa poporului meu îi va stăpâni.
10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified [themselves] against the people of the LORD of hosts.
Aceasta vor avea pentru mândria lor, pentru că au ocărât şi s-au preamărit împotriva poporului DOMNULUI oştirilor.
11 The LORD [will be] terrible to them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and [men] shall worship him, every one from his place, [even] all the isles of the heathen.
DOMNUL va fi înfricoşător împotriva lor, pentru că el îi va înfometa pe toţi dumnezeii pământului; şi oamenii i se vor închina, fiecare din locul lui, toate insulele păgânilor.
12 Ye Cushites also, ye [shall be] slain by my sword.
Voi, de asemenea, etiopienilor, veţi fi ucişi de sabia mea.
13 And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, [and] dry like a wilderness.
Şi el îşi va întinde mâna împotriva nordului şi va distruge Asiria; şi va face Ninive o pustietate şi uscat ca o sălbăticie.
14 And flocks shall lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the cormorant and the bittern shall lodge in the upper lintels of it; [their] voice shall sing in the windows; desolation [shall be] in the threshholds: for he shall uncover the cedar work.
Şi turme se vor culca în mijlocul ei, toate animalele naţiunilor: şi cormoranul şi cocostârcul vor cuibări pe capitelurile stâlpilor ei; vocea lor va cânta la ferestre; pustiirea va fi pe praguri, pentru că el va dezgoli lucrarea de cedru.
15 This [is] the rejoicing city that dwelt in security, that said in her heart, I [am], and [there is] none besides me: how is she become a desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, [and] wag his hand.
Aceasta este cetatea care se bucură, care a trăit fără grijă, care a spus în inima ei: Eu sunt şi nu este niciuna în afară de mine; cum a devenit ea o pustietate, un loc în care animalele să se culce! Fiecare ce trece pe lângă ea va şuiera şi va face semn cu mână.
