Zechariah 2

1 I lifted up my eyes again, and looked, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.

Je levai les yeux et regardai, et il se présenta un homme qui avait à la main un cordeau à mesurer.

2 Then said I, Whither goest thou? And he said to me, To measure Jerusalem, to see what [is] its breadth, and what [is] its length.

Je demandai "Où vas-tu?" II me répondit: "Je vais mesurer Jérusalem pour voir quelle est sa largeur et quelle est sa longueur."

3 And behold, the angel that talked with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,

Alors l’ange qui conversait avec moi se disposait à sortir lorsqu’un autre ange s’en vint à sa rencontre.

4 And said to him, Run, speak to this young man, saying, Jerusalem shall be inhabited [as] towns without walls for the multitude of men and cattle in it.

Il lui dit: "Cours et parle à ce jeune homme en ces termes: Jérusalem sera habitée à l’état de ville ouverte en raison de la multitude d’hommes et de bêtes qui s’y trouveront.

5 For I, saith the LORD, will be to her a wall of fire on every side, and will be the glory in the midst of her.

Et moi, je lui serai, dit l’Eternel, une muraille de feu tout autour, et je serai un sujet de gloire au milieu d’elle."

6 Ho, ho, [come forth], and flee from the land of the north, saith the LORD: for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.

Holà! Holà! Fuyez du pays du Nord, dit l’Eternel, car comme aux quatre vents du ciel, je vous ai dispersés, dit l’Eternel.

7 Deliver thyself, O Zion, that dwellest [with] the daughter of Babylon.

Holà! Sion, sauve-toi, toi qui demeures avec la fille de Babel!

8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts; After the glory hath he sent me to the nations which wasted you: for he that toucheth you, toucheth the apple of his eye.

Oui, ainsi parle l’Eternel-Cebaot, à la poursuite de l’honneur il m’a envoyé vers les peuples qui vous pillèrent, car quiconque vous touche, touche à la prunelle de ses yeux.

9 For behold, I will shake my hand upon them, and they shall be a spoil to their servants: and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.

Oui, voici, je vais diriger ma main contre eux, en sorte qu’ils deviennent la proie de ceux qui les servaient: vous reconnaîtrez alors que l’Eternel-Cebaot m’a envoyé.

10 Sing, and rejoice, O daughter of Zion: for lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.

Exulte et réjouis-toi, fille de Sion! Car voici, j’arrive pour résider au milieu de toi, dit l’Eternel.

11 And many nations shall be joined to the LORD in that day, and shall be my people: and I will dwell in the midst of thee, and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me to thee.

Nombre de nations se rallieront à l’Eternel, ce jour-là, et elles deviendront mon peuple; je résiderai au milieu de toi, et tu reconnaîtras que c’est l’Eternel-Cebaot qui m’a envoyé vers toi.

12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah his portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.

L’Eternel rentrera en possession de Juda, son domaine sur la terre Sainte, et fera de nouveau choix de Jérusalem.

13 Be silent, O all flesh, before the LORD: for he is raised up out of his holy habitation.

Que toute créature fasse silence devant l’Eternel, lorsqu’il surgira de sa demeure sainte!
