Romans 2
1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whoever thou art, that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, doest the same things.
然れば総て是非する人よ、汝は弁解する事を得ず、蓋他人を是非するは己を罪する所以なり、其自ら是非する所と同じ事を為せばなり。
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, against them who commit such things.
我等は斯の如き事を為す人に對して、神の審判が眞理に適へる事を知れり。
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
然て斯る事を為す者を是非しつつ自ら之を行ふ人よ、汝は神の審判を免れんと思ふか、
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
神の仁慈と堪忍と耐久との豊なるを軽んずるか、神の慈愛の汝を改心に導きつつあるを知らざるか。
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath, and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
然て汝が頑固と悔悛めざる心とに由りて、己の為に神の御怒を積み、
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
各其業に應じて報い給ふべき神の正しき審判の顕るべき御怒の日に當りて之に触れん。
7 To them who by patient continuance in well-doing, seek for glory, and honor, and immortality; eternal life: (aiōnios g166)
即ち忍耐を以て善行を力め、光榮と尊貴と不朽とを求むる人々には永遠の生命を以て報い給ふべしと雖も、 (aiōnios g166)
8 But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness; indignation and wrath:
争へる人、眞理に服せず不義に就く人には、怒と憤とあるべし。
9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
凡て惡を行ふ者の霊魂には、ユデア人を初めギリシア人にも、患難と辛苦とあるべけれど、
10 But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile;
凡て善を行ふ者にはユデア人を初めギリシア人にも光榮と尊貴と平安とあるべし。
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
其は人に就きて偏り給ふ事は神に無き所なればなり。
12 For as many as have sinned without law, shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law,
蓋総て律法なくして罪を犯しし人は律法なくして亡びん、又総て律法ありて罪を犯しし人は律法によりて審判せられん、
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
其は律法の聴聞者は神の御前に義人たらずして、律法の實行者こそ義とせらるべければなり。
14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law to themselves.
蓋律法を有たざる異邦人等が、自然に律法の事を行ふ時は、斯る律法を有たずと雖も自ら己に律法たるなり。
15 Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing testimony, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing, or else excusing one another)
彼等は律法の働の己が心に銘されたるを顕し、其良心之が證を為し、其思相互に、或は咎め或は弁解する事あればなり。
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
是我福音に宣ぶる如く、神がイエズス、キリストを以て人々の密事を審判し給ふべき日に明かならん。
17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
然るに汝はユデア人と稱せられて律法に安んじ、神を以て誇と為し、
18 And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,
其御旨を知り、律法に諭されて一層有益なる事を認め、
19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness,
敢て己を以て盲者の手引、暗黒に在る人の燈火、
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who hast the form of knowledge, and of the truth in the law:
愚者の教師、兒等の師匠なりとし、律法に於て學識と眞理との則を有てる者と思へり。
21 Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
然りながら汝は人を教へて己を教へず、盗む勿れと述べて自ら盗み、
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
姦淫する勿れと云ひて自ら姦淫し、偶像を憎みて聖なるものを冒し、
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonorest thou God?
律法に誇りつつ自ら律法を破りて神を辱しむ、
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, through you, as it is written.
録して、「神の御名は汝等によりて異邦人の中に罵らる」、とあるが如し。
25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keepest the law; but if thou art a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
汝律法を守る時は割禮其益ありと雖も、律法を破る時は汝の割禮は既に無割禮となれるなり。
26 Therefore, if the uncircumcision keepeth the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
然れば無割禮[の人]律法の禁令を守らば、其無割禮は割禮と斉しく視做さるべきに非ずや。
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfilleth the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
斯て生來無割禮[の人]律法を全うせば、儀文及び割禮ありながら律法を破れる汝を罪に定めん。
28 For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
蓋表に然ある人がユデア人たるに非ず、又陽に身に在るものが割禮たるに非ず。
29 But he [is] a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not from men, but from God.
心中に然ある人こそユデア人、儀文によらず霊による心のものこそ割禮にして、其誉は人より來らず而も神より來る。
