< Romans 2 >

1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whoever thou art, that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest, doest the same things.
されば凡て人を審く者よ、なんぢ言ひ遁るる術なし、他の人を審くは、正しく己を罪するなり。人をさばく汝もみづから同じ事を行へばなり。
2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth, against them who commit such things.
かかる事をおこなふ者を罪する神の審判は眞理に合へりと我らは知る。
3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them who do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
かかる事をおこなふ者を審きて自己これを行ふ人よ、なんぢ神の審判を遁れんと思ふか。
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
神の仁慈なんぢを悔改に導くを知らずして、その仁慈と忍耐と寛容との豐なるを輕んずるか。
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart, treasurest up to thyself wrath against the day of wrath, and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
なんぢ頑固と悔改めぬ心とにより、己のために神の怒を積みて、その正しき審判の顯るる怒の日に及ぶなり。
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
神はおのおのの所作に隨ひて報い、
7 To them who by patient continuance in well-doing, seek for glory, and honor, and immortality; eternal life: (aiōnios g166)
耐へ忍びて善をおこない光榮と尊貴と朽ちざる事とを求むる者には、永遠の生命をもて報い、 (aiōnios g166)
8 But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness; indignation and wrath:
徒黨により眞理に從はずして不義にしたがう者には、怒と憤恚とをもて報い給はん。
9 Tribulation and anguish upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
すべて惡をおこなふ人には、ユダヤ人を始めギリシヤ人にも患難と苦難とあり。
10 But glory, honor, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile;
凡て善をおこなふ人には、ユダヤ人を始めギリシヤ人にも光榮と尊貴と平安とあらん。
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
そは神には偏り視 給ふこと無ければなり。
12 For as many as have sinned without law, shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law, shall be judged by the law,
凡そ律法なくして罪を犯したる者は律法なくして滅び、律法ありて罪を犯したる者は律法によりて審かるべし。
13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
律法を聞くもの神の前に義たるにあらず、律法をおこなふ者のみ義とせらるべし。――
14 For when the Gentiles, who have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these having not the law, are a law to themselves.
律法を有たぬ異邦人、もし本性のまま律法に載せたる所をおこなふ時は、律法を有たずともおのづから己が律法たるなり。
15 Who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing testimony, and [their] thoughts the mean while accusing, or else excusing one another)
即ち律法の命ずる所のその心に録されたるを顯し、おのが良心もこれを證をなして、その念、たがひに或は訴へ或は辯明す。――
16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.
是わが福音に云へる如く、神のキリスト・イエスによりて人々の隱れたる事を審きたまふ日に成るべし。
17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God,
汝ユダヤ人と稱へられ、律法に安んじ、神を誇り、
18 And knowest [his] will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law,
その御意を知り、律法に教へられて善惡を辨へ、
19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them who are in darkness,
また律法のうちに知識と眞理との式を有てりとして、盲人の手引、暗黒にをる者の光明、
20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, who hast the form of knowledge, and of the truth in the law:
愚なる者の守役、幼兒の教師なりと自ら信ずる者よ、
21 Thou therefore who teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal?
何ゆゑ人に教へて己を教へぬか、竊む勿れと宣べて自ら竊むか、
22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege?
姦淫する勿れと言ひて姦淫するか、偶像を惡みて宮の物を奪ふか、
23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonorest thou God?
律法に誇りて律法を破り神を輕んずるか。
24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles, through you, as it is written.
録して『神の名は汝らの故によりて異邦人の中に涜さる』とあるが如し。
25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keepest the law; but if thou art a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
なんぢ律法を守らば割禮は益あり、律法を破らば汝の割禮は無 割禮となるなり。
26 Therefore, if the uncircumcision keepeth the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision?
割禮なき者も律法の義を守らば、その無 割禮は割禮とせらるるにあらずや。
27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfilleth the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?
本性のまま割禮なくして律法を全うする者は、儀文と割禮とありてなほ律法をやぶる汝を審かん。
28 For he is not a Jew, who is one outwardly; neither [is that] circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
それ表面のユダヤ人はユダヤ人たるにあらず、肉に在る表面の割禮は割禮たるにあらず。
29 But he [is] a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision [is that] of the heart, in the spirit, [and] not in the letter; whose praise [is] not from men, but from God.
隱なるユダヤ人はユダヤ人なり、儀文によらず、靈による心の割禮は割禮なり、その譽は人よりにあらず、神より來るなり。
