Revelation 8
1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.
Ketika Anak Domba melepaskan meterai terakhir dari gulungan kitab itu, surga menjadi sunyi senyap selama kira-kira setengah jam.
2 And I saw the seven angels who stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.
Lalu saya melihat ketujuh malaikat yang terkenal maju dan berdiri di hadapan Allah. Kepada mereka diberikan tujuh terompet, masing-masing satu.
3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he should offer [it] with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
Seorang malaikat lain datang dan berdiri di dekat mezbah emas tempat mempersembahkan dupa di hadapan takhta Allah. Malaikat itu memegang sebuah mangkuk pedupaan dari emas. Kepadanya diberikan banyak dupa untuk dipersembahkan. Lalu dia mencampurkannya dalam mangkuk itu dengan bara api dari mezbah. Kemudian kepulan asap dupa yang dibakar itu naik ke hadapan Allah, melambangkan doa seluruh umat-Nya.
4 And the smoke of the incense, [which came] with the prayers of the saints, ascended before God out of the angel's hand.
5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast [it] upon the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
Selanjutnya malaikat tadi mengisi lagi pedupaan itu dengan bara api dari mezbah, lalu melemparkannya ke bumi! Maka terjadilah bunyi guntur yang bergemuruh disertai kilat sambung-menyambung dan gempa.
6 And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
Sesudah itu, ketujuh malaikat yang memegang ketujuh terompet tadi bersiap untuk meniup terompetnya masing-masing.
7 The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
Malaikat pertama meniup terompetnya, lalu terjadilah hujan es dan api bercampur darah menimpa bumi. Maka terbakarlah sepertiga dari bumi dan sepertiga dari pohon-pohon. Semua rumput hijau pun hangus terbakar.
8 And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood;
Malaikat kedua meniup terompetnya, lalu sesuatu yang kelihatan seperti gunung besar yang berkobar-kobar dilemparkan ke dalam laut. Maka sepertiga dari laut menjadi darah,
9 And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
sepertiga dari makhluk hidup yang ada di laut mati, dan sepertiga dari semua kapal juga hancur.
10 And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters;
Malaikat ketiga meniup terompetnya, lalu sebuah bintang besar yang menyala seperti obor jatuh dari langit. Bintang itu menimpa sepertiga dari jumlah sungai dan mata air di bumi.
11 And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died by the waters, because they were made bitter.
Nama bintang itu adalah Kepahitan. Dan sepertiga dari semua air menjadi sangat pahit, sehingga banyak orang mati karena minum air pahit itu.
12 And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars; so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.
Malaikat keempat meniup terompetnya, lalu tampaklah bencana menimpa matahari, bulan, dan bintang-bintang, sehingga matahari tidak lagi bersinar dua belas jam, tetapi hanya delapan jam. Begitu juga bulan dan bintang-bintang, waktu sinarnya berkurang sepertiga dari biasanya. Akibatnya, bumi sering diliputi gelap pekat.
13 And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth, by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
Lalu muncullah sesuatu yang penting! Saya melihat dan mendengar seekor burung elang terbang di langit dan menyerukan pengumuman, “Celaka! Celaka! Celakalah mereka yang hidup di bumi karena bunyi terompet yang akan ditiup oleh ketiga malaikat berikutnya!”
