< Revelation 21 >

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away; and there was no more sea.
I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth have passed away, and the sea is no more.
2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
I saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, made ready like a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven, saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself will be with them, [and be] their God.
I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look, the tabernacle of God is with humans, and he will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
4 And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things have passed away.
And he will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, nor will there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the first things have passed away."
5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said to me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
He who sits on the throne said, "Look, I am making all things new." He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true."
6 And he said to me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give to him that is thirsty of the fountain of the water of life freely.
He said to me, "It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give freely to him who is thirsty from the spring of the water of life.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and lewd men, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
But to the cowards, and unbelieving, and detestable, and murderers, and sexually immoral, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death." (Limnē Pyr g3041 g4442)
9 And there came to me one of the seven angels, who had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.
One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls, full of the seven last plagues came, and he spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb."
10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God,
He carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the holy city, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God,
11 Having the glory of God: and her light [was] like to a stone most precious, even like a jasper-stone, clear as crystal;
having the glory of God. Her light was like a most precious stone, as if it was a jasper stone, clear as crystal;
12 And had a wall great and high, [and] had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written on them, which are [the names] of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
having a great and high wall; having twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and names written on them, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel.
13 On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
On the east were three gates; and on the north three gates; and on the south three gates; and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And he that talked with me, had a golden reed to measure the city, and its gates, and its wall.
He who spoke with me had for a measure, a golden reed, to measure the city, its gates, and its wall.
16 And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the hight of it are equal.
The city lies foursquare, and its length is as great as its breadth. He measured the city with the reed, one thousand three hundred eighty miles. Its length, breadth, and height are equal.
17 And he measured the wall of it a hundred [and] forty four cubits, [according to] the measure of a man, that is, of the angel.
Its wall is one hundred forty-four cubits, by human measurement, that is, of an angel.
18 And the building of the wall of it was [of] jasper: and the city [was] pure gold, like clear glass.
The construction of its wall was jasper. The city was pure gold, like pure glass.
19 And the foundations of the wall of the city [were] garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation [was] jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald;
The foundations of the city's wall were adorned with all kinds of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second, sapphire; the third, chalcedony; the fourth, emerald;
20 The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprase; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst.
the fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardius; the seventh, chrysolite; the eighth, beryl; the ninth, topaz; the tenth, chrysoprasus; the eleventh, jacinth; and the twelfth, amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates [were] twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city [was] pure gold, as it were transparent glass.
The twelve gates were twelve pearls. Each one of the gates was made of one pearl. The street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.
I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb are its temple.
23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God enlightened it, and the Lamb [is] the light of it.
The city has no need for the sun, neither of the moon, to shine, for the very glory of God illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb.
24 And the nations of them who are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.
The nations will walk in its light. The kings of the earth bring their splendor into it.
25 And the gates of it shall not be shut by day: for there shall be no night there.
Its gates will in no way be shut by day (for there will be no night there),
26 And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it.
and they will bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it.
27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie; but they who are written in the Lamb's book of life.
There will in no way enter into it anything profane, or one who causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
