Psalms 90
1 A prayer of Moses the man of God. LORD, thou hast been our dwelling-place in all generations.
Prière de Moïse, l’homme de Dieu.
2 Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God.
Avant que les montagnes fussent faites, ou que la terre fût formée et l’univers, d’un siècle jusqu’à un autre siècle, vous êtes Dieu.
3 Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
Ne détournez pas un homme vers l’abjection; car vous avez dit: Tournez-vous vers moi, fils des hommes.
4 For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
Puisque mille ans devant vos yeux, sont comme le jour d’hier qui est passé;
5 Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep; in the morning [they are] like grass [which] groweth.
Qui ne compte pour rien: ainsi seront leurs années.
6 In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
Que le matin, comme l’herbe, l’homme passe; que le matin il fleurisse et passe: que le soir il tombe, il durcisse et se dessèche.
7 For we are consumed by thy anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Parce que par votre colère nous avons défailli, et par votre fureur nous avons été troublés.
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
Vous avez mis nos iniquités en votre présence, et le temps de notre vie à la lumière de votre visage.
9 For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years, as a tale [that is told].
C’est pourquoi tous nos jours ont défailli, et par votre colère nous avons défailli. Nos années s’exercent comme l’araignée:
10 The days of our years [are] seventy years; and if by reason of strength [they are] eighty years, yet [is] their strength labor and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Les jours de nos années sont en elles-mêmes de soixante-dix ans.
11 Who knoweth the power of thy anger? even according to thy fear, [so is] thy wrath.
Qui connaît la puissance de votre colère, et peut, à cause de la crainte qu’il a de vous, les effets de votre colère
12 So teach [us] to number [our] days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.
Énumérer? Faites ainsi connaître votre droite, et ceux qui sont instruits de cœur dans la sagesse.
13 Return, O LORD, how long? and repent thou concerning thy servants.
Revenez, vers nous, Seigneur, jusqu’à quand?… et soyez exorable aux vœux de vos serviteurs.
14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
Nous avons été remplis dès le matin, de votre miséricorde, nous avons tressailli d’allégresse; et nous avons passé tous nos jours dans les délices.
15 Make us glad according to the days [in which] thou hast afflicted us, [and] the years [in which] we have seen evil.
Nous nous sommes réjouis pour les jours auxquels vous nous avez humiliés, pour les années auxquelles nous avons vu des maux.
16 Let thy work appear to thy servants, and thy glory to their children.
Jetez les yeux sur vos serviteurs et sur vos œuvres, et dirigez leurs fils.
17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands establish thou it.
Et soit la splendeur du Seigneur notre Dieu sur nous, et dirigez les œuvres de nos mains pour nous, et dirigez l’œuvre de nos mains.
