Psalms 89
1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.
Utenzi wa Ethani Mwezrahi. Nitaimba juu ya upendo mkuu wa Bwana milele; kwa kinywa changu nitajulisha uaminifu wako ujulikane kwa vizazi vyote.
2 For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness wilt thou establish in the very heavens.
Nitatangaza kuwa upendo wako unasimama imara milele na uaminifu wako umeuthibitisha mbinguni.
3 I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn to David my servant,
Ulisema, “Nimefanya agano na mteule wangu, nimemwapia mtumishi wangu Daudi,
4 Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. (Selah)
‘Nitaimarisha uzao wako milele na kudumisha ufalme wako kwa vizazi vyote.’”
5 And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD; thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.
Ee Bwana, mbingu zinayasifu maajabu yako, uaminifu wako pia katika kusanyiko la watakatifu.
6 For who in the heaven can be compared to the LORD? [who] among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD?
Kwa kuwa ni nani katika mbingu anayeweza kulinganishwa na Bwana? Ni nani miongoni mwa viumbe vya mbinguni aliye kama Bwana?
7 God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence by all [them that are] about him.
Katika kusanyiko la watakatifu, Mungu huogopwa sana, anahofiwa kuliko wote wanaomzunguka.
8 O LORD God of hosts, who [is] a strong LORD like to thee? or to thy faithfulness around thee?
Ee Bwana Mwenye Nguvu Zote, ni nani aliye kama wewe? Ee Bwana, wewe ni mwenye nguvu, na uaminifu wako unakuzunguka.
9 Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when its waves arise, thou stillest them.
Wewe unatawala bahari yenye msukosuko; wakati mawimbi yake yanapoinuka, wewe unayatuliza.
10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; thou hast scattered thy enemies with thy strong arm.
Wewe ulimponda Rahabu kama mmojawapo wa waliochinjwa; kwa mkono wako wenye nguvu, uliwatawanya adui zako.
11 The heavens [are] thine, the earth also [is] thine: [as for] the world, and the fullness of it, thou hast founded them.
Mbingu ni zako, nayo nchi pia ni yako, uliuwekea ulimwengu msingi pamoja na vyote vilivyomo.
12 The north and the south thou hast created them: Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in thy name.
Uliumba kaskazini na kusini; Tabori na Hermoni wanaliimbia jina lako kwa furaha.
13 Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, [and] high is thy right hand.
Mkono wako umejaa uwezo; mkono wako una nguvu, mkono wako wa kuume umetukuzwa.
14 Justice and judgment [are] the habitation of thy throne: mercy and truth shall go before thy face.
Haki na hukumu ndio msingi wa kiti chako cha enzi; upendo na uaminifu vinakutangulia.
15 Blessed [are] the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.
Heri ni wale ambao wamejifunza kukusifu kwa shangwe, wanaotembea katika mwanga wa uwepo wako, Ee Bwana.
16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.
Wanashangilia katika jina lako mchana kutwa, wanafurahi katika haki yako.
17 For thou [art] the glory of their strength: and in thy favor our horn shall be exalted.
Kwa kuwa wewe ni utukufu na nguvu yao, kwa wema wako unatukuza pembe yetu.
18 For the LORD [is] our defense; and the Holy One of Israel [is] our king.
Naam, ngao yetu ni mali ya Bwana, na mfalme wetu mali ya Aliye Mtakatifu wa Israeli.
19 Then thou didst speak in vision to thy holy one, and say, I have laid help upon [one that is] mighty; I have exalted [one] chosen out of the people.
Ulizungumza wakati fulani katika maono, kwa watu wako waaminifu, ukasema: “Nimeweka nguvu kwa shujaa, nimemwinua kijana miongoni mwa watu.
20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:
Nimemwona Daudi, mtumishi wangu, na nimemtia mafuta yangu matakatifu.
21 With whom my hand shall be established: my arm also shall strengthen him.
Kitanga changu kitamtegemeza, hakika mkono wangu utamtia nguvu.
22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
Hakuna adui atakayemtoza ushuru, hakuna mtu mwovu atakayemwonea.
23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and afflict them that hate him.
Nitawaponda adui zake mbele zake na kuwaangamiza watesi wake.
24 But my faithfulness and my mercy [shall be] with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted.
Upendo wangu mkamilifu utakuwa pamoja naye, kwa Jina langu pembe yake itatukuzwa.
25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers.
Nitauweka mkono wake juu ya bahari, mkono wake wa kuume juu ya mito.
26 He shall cry to me, Thou [art] my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
Naye ataniita kwa sauti, ‘Wewe ni Baba yangu, Mungu wangu, Mwamba na Mwokozi wangu.’
27 Also I will make him [my] first-born, higher than the kings of the earth.
Nitamteua pia awe mzaliwa wangu wa kwanza, aliyetukuka kuliko wafalme wote wa dunia.
28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.
Nitadumisha upendo wangu kwake milele, na agano langu naye litakuwa imara.
29 His seed also will I make [to endure] for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Nitaudumisha uzao wake milele, kiti chake cha enzi kama mbingu zinavyodumu.
30 If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
“Kama wanae wataacha amri yangu na wasifuate sheria zangu,
31 If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;
kama wakihalifu maagizo yangu na kutoshika amri zangu,
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.
nitaadhibu dhambi yao kwa fimbo, uovu wao kwa kuwapiga,
33 Nevertheless my loving-kindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
lakini sitauondoa upendo wangu kwake, wala sitausaliti uaminifu wangu kamwe.
34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that hath gone out of my lips.
Mimi sitavunja agano langu wala sitabadili lile ambalo midomo yangu imelitamka.
35 Once have I sworn by my holiness that I will not lie to David.
Mara moja na kwa milele, nimeapa kwa utakatifu wangu, nami sitamdanganya Daudi:
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before me.
kwamba uzao wake utaendelea milele, na kiti chake cha enzi kitadumu mbele zangu kama jua;
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and [as] a faithful witness in heaven. (Selah)
kitaimarishwa milele kama mwezi, shahidi mwaminifu angani.”
38 But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thy anointed.
Lakini wewe umemkataa, umemdharau, umemkasirikia sana mpakwa mafuta wako.
39 Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: thou hast profaned his crown [by casting it] to the ground.
Umelikana agano lako na mtumishi wako, na umeinajisi taji yake mavumbini.
40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.
Umebomoa kuta zake zote, na ngome zake zote umezifanya kuwa magofu.
41 All that pass by the way plunder him: he is a reproach to his neighbors.
Wote wapitao karibu wamemnyangʼanya mali zake; amekuwa dharau kwa jirani zake.
42 Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
Umeutukuza mkono wa kuume wa adui zake, umewafanya watesi wake wote washangilie.
43 Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
Umegeuza makali ya upanga wake, na hukumpa msaada katika vita.
44 Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
Umeikomesha fahari yake, na kukiangusha kiti chake cha enzi.
45 The days of his youth hast thou shortened: thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
Umezifupisha siku za ujana wake, umemfunika kwa vazi la aibu.
46 How long, LORD, wilt thou hide thyself? for ever? shall thy wrath burn like fire?
Hata lini, Ee Bwana? Utajificha milele? Ghadhabu yako itawaka kama moto hata lini?
47 Remember how short my time is: why hast thou made all men in vain?
Kumbuka jinsi maisha yangu yanavyopita haraka. Ni kwa ubatili kiasi gani umemuumba mwanadamu!
48 What man [is he that] liveth, and shall not see death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Ni mtu gani awezaye kuishi na asione kifo, au kujiokoa mwenyewe kutoka nguvu za kaburi? (Sheol h7585)
49 LORD, where [are] thy former loving-kindnesses, [which] thou didst swear to David in thy truth?
Ee Bwana, uko wapi upendo wako mkuu wa mwanzoni, ambao katika uaminifu wako ulimwapia Daudi?
50 Remember, LORD, the reproach of thy servants; [how] I do bear in my bosom [the reproach of] all the mighty people;
Bwana kumbuka jinsi mtumishi wako amesimangwa, jinsi ninavyovumilia moyoni mwangu dhihaka za mataifa yote,
51 With which thy enemies have reproached, O LORD; with which they have reproached the footsteps of thy anointed
dhihaka ambazo kwazo adui zako wamenisimanga, Ee Bwana, ambazo kwazo wamesimanga kila hatua ya mpakwa mafuta wako.
52 Blessed [be] the LORD for evermore. Amen and amen.
