Psalms 83
1 A song, [or] Psalm of Asaph. Keep not thou silence, O God: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
Cantique. — Psaume d'Asaph. Dieu, ne garde pas le silence! Ne reste pas sourd et inactif, ô Dieu fort!
2 For lo, thy enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Car voici que tes ennemis s'agitent; Ceux qui te haïssent lèvent la tête.
3 They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.
Ils trament contre ton peuple de perfides complots, Et ils se concertent contre ceux que tu protèges.
4 They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
«Venez, disent-ils, faisons-les disparaître Du nombre des nations, Et qu'on ne se souvienne plus du nom d'Israël!»
5 For they have consulted together with one consent: they are confederate against thee,
Ils ont conspiré d'un commun accord; Ils forment une alliance contre toi:
6 The tabernacles of Edom, and the Ishmaelites; of Moab, and the Hagarenes;
Les tentes d'Édom et les Ismaélites, Moab et les Hagaréniens,
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; the Philistines with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Guébal, Ammon, les Amalécites, Les Philistins et les habitants de Tyr.
8 Assur also is joined with them: they have helped the children of Lot. (Selah)
L'Assyrien se joint aussi à eux; Ils prêtent leurs bras aux enfants de Lot. (Pause)
9 Do to them as [to] the Midianites; as [to] Sisera, as [to] Jabin, at the brook of Kison:
Traite-les comme tu traitas jadis les Madianites, Comme tu traitas Sisera et Jabin au torrent de Kison!
10 [Who] perished at En-dor: they became [as] dung for the earth.
Ils furent détruits à Endor, Et ils servirent de fumier à la terre.
11 Make their nobles like Oreb, and like Zeeb: yes, all their princes as Zebah, and as Zalmunna:
Rends-les, rends leurs chefs semblables à Oreb et Zéeb, Et tous leurs princes, à Zébach et à Tsalmuna.
12 Who said, Let us take to ourselves the houses of God in possession.
Car tes ennemis disent: «Emparons-nous Des demeures où Dieu réside!»
13 O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind.
mon Dieu, rends-les semblables au tourbillon, Au chaume emporté par le vent!
14 As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire;
Comme le feu dévore la forêt. Comme la flamme embrase les montagnes,
15 So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm.
De même aussi, mets-les en fuite au souffle de ta tempête; Que ton ouragan les frappe d'épouvante!
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
Couvre leur face d'ignominie. Et qu'ils recherchent ton nom, ô Éternel!
17 Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yes, let them be put to shame, and perish:
Qu'ils rougissent, qu'ils soient épouvantés à jamais; Qu'ils soient couverts de honte et qu'ils périssent,
18 That [men] may know that thou, whose name alone [is] JEHOVAH, [art] the most high over all the earth.
Et qu'ils sachent que toi seul, dont le nom est l'Éternel, Tu es le Souverain de toute la terre!
