< Psalms 76 >
1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm [or] Song of Asaph. In Judah [is] God known: his name [is] great in Israel.
In Judah [Praised], God is known. His name is great in Israel [God prevails].
2 In Salem also is his tabernacle, and his dwelling place in Zion.
His tabernacle is also in Salem [Complete peace, Perfect peace]; His dwelling place in Zion [Mountain ridge, Marking].
3 There he broke the arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)
There he broke the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and the weapons of war. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 Thou [art] more glorious [and] excellent than the mountains of prey.
Glorious are you, and excellent, more than mountains of game.
5 The stout-hearted are spoiled, they have slept their sleep: and none of the men of might have found their hands.
Valiant men lie plundered, they have slept their last sleep. None of the men of war can lift their hands.
6 At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both the chariot and horse are cast into a dead sleep.
At your rebuke, God of Jacob [Supplanter], both chariot and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
7 Thou, [even] thou, [art] to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
You, even you, are to be feared. Who can stand in your sight when you are angry?
8 Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
You pronounced judgment to be sh'ma ·heard obeyed· from heaven. The earth feared, and was silent,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the meek of the earth. (Selah)

10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath wilt thou restrain.
Surely the wrath of man yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to you. The survivors of your wrath are restrained.
11 Vow, and pay to the LORD your God: let all that are about him bring presents to him that ought to be feared.
Make vows to Adonai your God, and fulfill them! Let all of his neighbors bring presents to him who is to be feared.
12 He shall cut off the spirit of princes: [he is] terrible to the kings of the earth.
He will cut off the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.
