< Psalms 75 >
1 To the chief Musician, Al-taschith, A Psalm [or] Song of Asaph. To thee, O God, do we give thanks, [to thee] do we give thanks: for [that] thy name is near, thy wondrous works declare.
For the Chief Musician. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” A Psalm by Asaph. A song. We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
When I choose the appointed time, I will judge blamelessly.
3 The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. (Selah)
The earth and all its inhabitants quake. I firmly hold its pillars. (Selah)
4 I said to the fools, Deal not foolishly; and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
I said to the arrogant, “Do not boast!” I said to the wicked, “Do not lift up the horn.
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak [not with] a stiff neck.
Do not lift up your horn on high. Do not speak with a stiff neck.”
6 For promotion [cometh] neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation.
7 But God [is] the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another.
8 For in the hand of the LORD [there is] a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture, and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs of it all the wicked of the earth shall wring [them] out, [and] drink [them].
For in the LORD’s hand there is a cup, full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours it out. Indeed the wicked of the earth drink and drink it to its very dregs.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
But I will declare this forever: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; [but] the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
