< Psalms 54 >
1 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us? Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength.
Save me, God, by your name. Vindicate me in your might.
2 Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
Sh'ma ·Hear obey· my prayer, God. Listen to the words of my mouth.
3 For strangers have risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul: they have not set God before them. (Selah)
For strangers have risen up against me. Violent men have sought after my soul. They haven’t set God before them. (Selah) ·contemplation with musical interlude·.
4 Behold, God [is] my helper: the LORD [is] with them that uphold my soul.
Behold, God is my helper. 'Adonay [Lord] is the one who sustains my soul.
5 He will reward evil to my enemies; cut them off in thy truth.
He will repay the evil to my enemies. Destroy them in your truth.
6 I will freely sacrifice to thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for [it is] good.
With a free will offering, I will sacrifice to you. I will yadah ·extend hands in thankful praise· to your name, Adonai, for it is good.
7 For he hath delivered me out of all trouble: and my eye hath seen [its desire] upon my enemies.
For he has delivered me out of all trouble. My eye has seen triumph over my enemies.
