Psalms 40
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined to me, and heard my cry.
੧ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਵਜਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ ਦਾਊਦ ਦਾ ਭਜਨ। ਮੈਂ ਸਬਰ ਨਾਲ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਉਡੀਕਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਵੱਲ ਝੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੁਹਾਈ ਸੁਣ ਲਈ।
2 He brought me up also out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, [and] established my goings.
੨ਉਸ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਟੋਏ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਚਿੱਕੜ ਦੀ ਖੁੱਭਣ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਕੱਢ ਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੱਟਾਨ ਉੱਤੇ ਰੱਖ ਕੇ ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਚਾਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਦ੍ਰਿੜ੍ਹ ਕੀਤਾ।
3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, [even] praise to our God: many shall see [it], and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
੩ਉਸ ਨੇ ਇੱਕ ਨਵਾਂ ਗੀਤ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ, ਅਰਥਾਤ ਸਾਡੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ ਦੀ ਉਸਤਤ ਦਾ। ਬਹੁਤੇ ਵੇਖਣਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਡਰ ਜਾਣਗੇ, ਅਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਉੱਤੇ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਰੱਖਣਗੇ।
4 Blessed [is] that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
੪ਧੰਨ ਹੈ ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਆਸਰਾ ਬਣਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਹੰਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਝੂਠੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੀਆਂ ਵੱਲ ਮੂੰਹ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰਦਾ।
5 Many, O LORD, my God, [are] thy wonderful works [which] thou hast done, and thy thoughts [which are] toward us, they cannot be reckoned up in order to thee: [if] I would declare and speak [of them], they are more than can be numbered.
੫ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਤੇਰੇ ਅਚਰਜ਼ ਕੰਮ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੂੰ ਕੀਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਉਪਰਾਲੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਹਨ, ਤੇਰਾ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ! ਜੇ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਖੋਲ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਦੱਸਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਓਹ ਲੇਖਿਓਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਹਨ।
6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; my ears hast thou opened: burnt-offering and sin-offering hast thou not required.
੬ਬਲੀਦਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਭੇਟ ਤੋਂ ਤੂੰ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੁੰਦਾ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਕੰਨ ਖੋਲੇ ਹਨ, ਹੋਮ ਬਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਪਾਪ ਬਲੀ ਤੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਚਾਹੀ।
7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book [it is] written of me,
੭ਤਦ ਮੈਂ ਆਖਿਆ, ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਆਇਆ ਹਾਂ! ਪੁਸਤਕ ਦੀ ਪੱਤ੍ਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮੇਰੇ ਲਈ ਲਿਖਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ
8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law [is] within my heart.
੮ਕਿ ਤੇਰੀ ਇੱਛਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਪੂਰਿਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਮੈਂ ਪਰਸੰਨ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਬਿਵਸਥਾ ਮੇਰੇ ਹਿਰਦੇ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਹੈ।
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
੯ਮੈਂ ਮਹਾਂ-ਸਭਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਧਰਮ ਦੀ ਖੁਸ਼ਖਬਰੀ ਦਾ ਪ੍ਰਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ, ਵੇਖ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਰੋਕਾਂਗਾ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੂੰ ਇਹ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈਂ।
10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy loving-kindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
੧੦ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੇ ਧਰਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਛੱਡਿਆ, ਮੈਂ ਸਗੋਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਵਫ਼ਾਦਾਰੀ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦਾ ਚਰਚਾ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਤੇਰੀ ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਸਚਿਆਈ ਮਹਾਂ-ਸਭਾ ਤੋਂ ਨਹੀਂ ਛਿਪਾਈ।
11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy loving-kindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
੧੧ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਤੂੰ ਆਪਣਾ ਰਹਮ ਮੇਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਨਾ ਰੋਕ, ਤੇਰੀ ਦਯਾ ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰਾ ਸੱਚ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ,
12 For innumerable evils have encompassed me: my iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head: therefore my heart faileth me.
੧੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਅਣਗਿਣਤ ਬੁਰਿਆਈਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਦੁਆਲੇ ਘੇਰਾ ਪਾ ਲਿਆ, ਮੇਰੀਆਂ ਬਦੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆ ਫੜਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਨਿਗਾਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਉਠਾ ਸਕਦਾ। ਓਹ ਤਾਂ ਮੇਰੇ ਸਿਰ ਦੇ ਵਾਲਾਂ ਨਾਲੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਹਨ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਦਿਲ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ।
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.
੧੩ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਛੁਟਕਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਲਈ, ਹੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ, ਮੇਰੀ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਲਈ ਛੇਤੀ ਕਰ!
14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil.
੧੪ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਾਰਨ ਲਈ ਭਾਲਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਲੱਜਿਆਵਾਨ ਹੋਣ ਅਤੇ ਘਬਰਾ ਜਾਣ! ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਬੁਰਾ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਪਿਛਾਂਹ ਹਟਾਏ ਜਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦੇ ਹੋਣ।
15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say to me, Aha, aha.
੧੫ਜੋ ਮੈਨੂੰ “ਆਹਾ, ਆਹਾ!” ਆਖਦੇ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਆਪਣੀ ਲਾਜ ਦੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਉੱਜੜ ਜਾਣ!
16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The LORD be magnified.
੧੬ਜਿੰਨੇ ਤੇਰੇ ਖੋਜ਼ੀ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਖੁਸ਼ ਤੇ ਅਨੰਦ ਹੋਣ, ਅਤੇ ਜਿਹੜੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਮੁਕਤੀ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮੀ ਹਨ, ਓਹ ਸਦਾ ਆਖਦੇ ਰਹਿਣ, “ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਹੋਵੇ!”
17 But I [am] poor and needy; [yet] the LORD thinketh upon me: thou [art] my help and my deliverer; make no delay, O my God.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਮਸਕੀਨ ਅਤੇ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਹਾਂ, ਤਾਂ ਵੀ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਮੇਰੀ ਚਿੰਤਾ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਤੂੰ ਹੀ ਮੇਰਾ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰਾ ਛੁਡਾਉਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈਂ, ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪਰਮੇਸ਼ੁਰ, ਢਿੱਲ ਨਾ ਲਾ!
