Psalms 35
1 [A Psalm] of David. Plead [my cause], O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.
Par David lui-même.
2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.
Prenez des armes et un bouclier; et levez-vous pour me venir en aide.
3 Draw out also the spear, and stop [the way] against them that persecute me: say to my soul, I [am] thy salvation.
Tirez votre épée à deux tranchants et fermez le passage à ceux qui me poursuivent; dites à mon âme: Ton salut, c’est moi qui le suis.
4 Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
Qu’ils soient confondus, et qu’ils soient couverts de honte, ceux qui cherchent mon âme.
5 Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase [them].
Qu’ils deviennent comme la poussière devant la face du vent; et qu’un ange du Seigneur les serre de près.
6 Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them.
Que leur voie devienne très ténébreuse et glissante, et qu’un ange du Seigneur les poursuive.
7 For without cause they have hid for me their net [in] a pit, [which] without cause they have digged for my soul.
Parce que, sans motif, ils ont caché pour moi la mort dans leur piège; que gratuitement ils ont outragé mon âme.
8 Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall.
Qu’il lui vienne un piège qu’il ignore; et que le rets qu’il a caché le saisisse; qu’il tombe dans ses propres filets.
9 And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
Mais mon âme exultera dans le Seigneur, elle se réjouira du salut qu’il lui aura procuré.
10 All my bones shall say, LORD, who [is] like thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, even the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him?
Tous mes os diront: Seigneur, qui est semblable à vous? Qui arrachez un homme sans ressource aux mains des plus forts que lui, et l’indigent et le pauvre à ceux qui les dépouillaient.
11 False witnesses arose; they laid to my charge [things] that I knew not.
Des témoins iniques s’étant levés m’interrogeaient sur des choses que j’ignorais.
12 They rewarded me evil for good [to] the spoiling of my soul.
Ils me rendaient des maux pour des biens: ils ont causé la stérilité à mon âme.
13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing [was] sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into my own bosom.
Et moi, pendant qu’ils me tourmentaient, j’étais revêtu d’un cilice. J’humiliais mon âme par le jeûne, et ma prière revenait dans mon sein.
14 I behaved myself as though [he had been] my friend [or] brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth [for his] mother.
Comme pour un de nos proches, et comme pour notre frère, ainsi pour chacun d’eux j’avais de la complaisance. Comme un homme en deuil et contristé, ainsi j’étais humilié.
15 But in my adversity they rejoiced, and assembled themselves: [yes], the abjects assembled themselves against me, and I knew [it] not; they did tear [me], and ceased not:
Et contre moi ils se sont réjouis et rassemblés: des fléaux se sont accumulés et j’ai ignoré pourquoi.
16 With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
Mes ennemis ont été dissipés et n’ont point été touchés de componction; ils m’ont éprouvé, ils m’ont chargé d’insultes: ils ont grincé des dents contre moi.
17 LORD, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions.
Seigneur, quand jetterez-vous un regard? Arrachez mon âme à leur malignité, mon unique à des lions.
18 I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among many people.
Je vous confesserai dans une grande assemblée; je vous louerai au milieu d’un peuple nombreux.
19 Let not them that are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: [neither] let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.
Qu’ils ne se réjouissent point à mon sujet ceux qui s’opposent à moi injustement; qui me haïssent sans motif et clignent les yeux.
20 For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against [them that are] quiet in the land.
Car à la vérité, ils me parlaient pacifiquement; mais, dans leur colère ardente, parlant à la terre, ils pensaient à des fourberies.
21 Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me, [and] said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen [it].
Et ils ont ouvert contre moi leur bouche; ils ont dit: Triomphe! triomphe! nos yeux ont vu sa ruine.
22 [This] thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O LORD, be not far from me.
Vous l’avez vu, Seigneur; ne gardez pas le silence: Seigneur ne vous éloignez pas de moi.
23 Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, [even] to my cause, my God and my LORD.
Levez-vous, et procédez à mon jugement: mon Seigneur et mon Dieu, prenez en main ma cause,
24 Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me.
Jugez-moi selon votre justice, Seigneur, mon Dieu, qu’ils ne se réjouissent point à mon sujet.
25 Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
Qu’ils ne disent point dans leurs cœurs: Triomphe! triomphe! pour notre âme; qu’ils ne disent point non plus: Nous l’avons dévoré.
26 Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at my hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonor that magnify [themselves] against me.
Qu’ils rougissent et qu’ils tremblent de frayeur, ceux qui se réjouissent de mes maux. Qu’ils soient revêtus de confusion et de frayeur, ceux qui parlent avec hauteur contre moi.
27 Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favor my righteous cause: yes, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, who hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.
Qu’ils exultent et qu’ils tressaillent d’allégresse, ceux qui veulent ma justice; et qu’ils disent sans cesse: Que le Seigneur soit glorifié, ceux qui veulent la paix de son serviteur.
28 And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness [and] of thy praise all the day long.
Et ma langue s’exercera à chanter votre justice, et tout le jour votre louange.
