Psalms 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
Pourquoi les nations s'agitent-elles? Pourquoi les peuples forment-ils de vains projets?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying],
Les rois de la terre se sont soulevés, Et les princes conspirent ensemble Contre l'Éternel et contre son Oint.
3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
— Rompons leurs liens, disent-ils. Et jetons loin de nous leurs chaînes!
4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the LORD shall have them in derision.
— Celui qui habite dans les deux en rira; Le Seigneur se moquera d'eux.
5 Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure.
Alors il leur parlera dans sa colère; Il les épouvantera par son courroux.
6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
— Et moi, dira-t-il, j'ai sacré mon roi Sur Sion, ma montagne sainte.
7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
— Je publierai le décret. L'Éternel m'a dit: «Tu es mon Fils; Aujourd'hui je t'ai engendré.
8 Ask of me, and I will give [thee] the heathen [for] thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession.
Demande-moi, et je te donnerai pour héritage les nations. Pour possession les extrémités de la terre.
9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.
Tu les briseras avec un sceptre de fer; Tu les mettras en pièces comme un vase de potier.»
10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.
Maintenant donc, ô rois, ayez de l'intelligence; Laissez-vous instruire, juges de la terre!
11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
Servez l'Éternel avec crainte. Et réjouissez-vous avec tremblement.
12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish [from] the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed [are] all they that put their trust in him.
Rendez hommage au Fils, de peur qu'il ne s'irrite, Et que vous ne périssiez dans la voie que vous suivez; Car sa colère est prompte à s'enflammer. Heureux tous ceux qui cherchent leur refuge en lui!
