Psalms 145

1 David's [Psalm] of praise. I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever.

[A praise psalm by David.] I will exalt you, my God, the King. I will praise your name forever and ever.

2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever.

Every day I will praise you. I will extol your name forever and ever.

3 Great [is] the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness [is] unsearchable.

Great is YHWH, and greatly to be praised. His greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.

One generation will commend your works to another, and will declare your mighty acts.

5 I will speak of the glorious honor of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works.

Of the glorious splendor of your majesty they will speak, of your wondrous works, I will meditate.

6 And [men] shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness.

Men will speak of the might of your awesome acts. I will declare your greatness.

7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness.

They will utter the memory of your great goodness, and will sing of your righteousness.

8 The LORD [is] gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.

YHWH is gracious, merciful, slow to anger, and of great loving kindness.

9 The LORD [is] good to all: and his tender mercies [are] over all his works.

YHWH is good to all. His tender mercies are over all his works.

10 All thy works shall praise thee, O LORD; and thy saints shall bless thee.

All your works will give thanks to you, YHWH. And your faithful ones will bless you.

11 They shall speak of the glory of thy kingdom, and talk of thy power;

They will speak of the glory of your kingdom, and talk about your power;

12 To make known to the sons of men his mighty acts, and the glorious majesty of his kingdom.

to make known to the descendants of Adam his mighty acts, the glory of the majesty of his kingdom.

13 Thy kingdom [is] an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion [endureth] throughout all generations.

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. Your dominion endures throughout all generations. YHWH is faithful in all his words, and gracious in all his deeds.

14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all [those that are] bowed down.

YHWH upholds all who fall, and raises up all those who are bowed down.

15 The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their food in due season.

The eyes of all wait for you. You give them their food in due season.

16 Thou openest thy hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living creature.

You yourself open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

17 The LORD [is] righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

YHWH is righteous in all his ways, and faithful in all his deeds.

18 The LORD [is] nigh to all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

YHWH is near to all those who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

19 He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

He will fulfill the desire of those who fear him. He also will hear their cry, and will save them.

20 The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.

YHWH preserves all those who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the LORD: and let all flesh bless his holy name for ever and ever.

My mouth will speak the praise of YHWH. Let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
