Psalms 140
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Osvobodi me, oh Gospod, pred zlobnežem, varuj me pred nasilnežem,
2 Who imagine mischiefs in [their] heart; continually are they assembled [for] war.
ki si v svojem srcu domišljajo vragolije; nenehno so zbrani skupaj za vojno.
3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adder's poison [is] under their lips. (Selah)
Svoje jezike so naostrili kakor kača, gadji strup je pod njihovimi ustnicami. (Sela)
4 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent man; who have purposed to overthrow my goings.
Varuj me, oh Gospod, pred rokami zlobnih, ohrani me pred nasilnežem, ki se je namenil, da zruši moja ravnanja.
5 The proud have hid a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the way side: they have set gins for me. (Selah)
Ponosni so zame prikrili zanko in vrvi, ob poti so razprostrli mrežo, zame so nastavili pasti. (Sela)
6 I said to the LORD, Thou [art] my God: hear the voice of my supplications, O LORD.
Gospodu sem rekel: »Ti si moj Bog, usliši glas mojih ponižnih prošenj, oh Gospod.
7 O GOD the Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head in the day of battle.
Oh Bog, Gospod, moč rešitve moje duše, mojo glavo si pokril na dan bitke.
8 Grant not, O LORD, the desires of the wicked: further not his wicked device; [lest] they exalt themselves. (Selah)
Ne usliši, oh Gospod, želja zlobnih, nadalje ne njihovega zlobnega naklepa, da se ne bi poviševali.« (Sela)
9 [As for] the head of those that encompass me, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
Glede glave tistih, ki me obdajajo, naj jih pokrije vragolija njihovih lastnih ustnic.
10 Let burning coals fall upon them: let them be cast into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not again.
Naj nanje padajo goreči ogorki, naj bodo vrženi v ogenj, v globoke jame, da ne vstanejo ponovno.
11 Let not an evil speaker be established on the earth: evil shall hunt the violent man to overthrow [him].
Naj obrekovalec ne bo utrjen na zemlji, zlo naj lovi nasilneža, da ga premaga.
12 I know that the LORD will maintain the cause of the afflicted, [and] the right of the poor.
Vem, da bo Gospod podpiral zadevo prizadetega in pravico ubogega.
13 Surely the righteous shall give thanks to thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.
Zagotovo se bodo pravični zahvaljevali tvojemu imenu; iskreni bodo prebivali v tvoji prisotnosti.
