Psalms 139
1 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known [me].
Jusqu'à la Fin. Psaume de David. Seigneur, tu m'as éprouvé, et tu m'as connu;
2 Thou knowest my down-sitting and my up rising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
Tu connais mon repos et mon réveil;
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted [with] all my ways.
Tu as compris de loin toutes mes pensées; tu as recherché mon sentier et le fil de ma vie.
4 For [there is] not a word on my tongue, [but] lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
Et tu as prévu toutes mes voies, et reconnu que sur ma langue il n'est point de paroles iniques.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thy hand upon me.
Voilà, ô Seigneur, que tu sais toutes les choses de la fin et du commencement; tu m'as formé et tu as posé sur moi ta main.
6 [Such] knowledge [is] too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot [attain] to it.
Ta science sur moi est admirable et pleine de force, et je ne puis en approcher,
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
Où aller pour fuir ton esprit? ou me réfugier pour échapper à ta face?
8 If I ascend into heaven, thou [art] there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou [art there]. (Sheol h7585)
Si je monte au ciel, tu y es, si je descends en enfer, tu y es présent. (Sheol h7585)
9 [If] I take the wings of the morning, [and] dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
Si, dès l'aurore, je déploie mes ailes et que je m'abrite aux extrémités de la mer,
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
Là encore ta main me conduit, et ta droite me retient.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
Et j'ai dit: Peut-être les ténèbres me cacheront-elles; et la nuit a été lumière sur mes voluptés.
12 Yes, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light [are] both alike [to thee].
Car pour toi, les ténèbres ne sont point ténèbres, et la nuit brille autant que le jour. Les ténèbres sont pour toi comme la lumière du jour.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
Seigneur, tu es maître de mes reins; tu m'as pris dès le sein de ma mère.
14 I will praise thee: for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made: wonderful [are] thy works; and [that] my soul well knoweth.
Je te rendrai gloire, parce que tes prodiges ont un éclat terrible; tes œuvres sont merveilleuses, et mon âme le sait bien.
15 My substance was not hid from thee when I was made in secret, [and] curiously formed in the lowest parts of the earth.
Mes os ne te sont point cachés, puisque tu les as cachés toi-même; ni ma substance, quoique perdue au fond de la terre.
16 Thy eyes saw my substance, yet being imperfect; and in thy book all [my members] were written, [which] in continuance were fashioned, when [as yet there was] none of them.
Tes yeux m'ont vu quand j'étais encore informe, et les hommes sont tous inscrits sur ton livre; ils se forment jour par jour, et nul n'y échappe.
17 How precious also are thy thoughts to me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
J'ai beaucoup honoré tes amis, ô mon Dieu, et leur empire s'est grandement affermi.
18 [If] I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
J'en ferai le dénombrement, et ils seront plus nombreux que les sables. Je m'éveille, et je suis encore avec toi.
19 Surely thou wilt slay the wicked, O God: depart from me therefore, ye bloody men.
O Dieu, si tu tues les pécheurs… Détournez-vous de moi, hommes de sang.
20 For they speak against thee wickedly, [and] thy enemies take [thy name] in vain.
Car, Seigneur, tu dis sur leurs pensées: Ils prendront vainement tes cités.
21 Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?
Seigneur, n'ai-je point haï ceux qui te haïssent, et ne me suis-je pas consumé en voyant tes ennemis?
22 I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them my enemies.
Je les ai haïs d'une haine parfaite; ils sont devenus mes ennemis.
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts:
Éprouve-moi, mon Dieu, et connais mon cœur; sonde-moi, et connais mes sentiers.
24 And see if [there is any] wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
Et vois s'il est en moi quelque voie d'iniquité, et conduis-moi dans la voie éternelle.
