Psalms 138

1 [A Psalm] of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to thee.

Von David. Von ganzem Herzen will ich dich preisen, angesichts der Götter dir lobsingen!

2 I will worship towards thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Ich will mich niederwerfen vor deinem heiligen Tempel und deinen Namen preisen um deiner Gnade und Treue willen; denn du hast deinen Namen, dein Wort über alles groß gemacht.

3 In the day when I cried thou didst answer me, [and] strengthen me [with] strength in my soul.

Als ich rief, erhörtest du mich; du machtest mich stolz, mein Inneres war voll Kraft.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Es sollen dich preisen, Jahwe, alle Könige der Erde, denn sie haben die Worte deines Mundes gehört,

5 Yes, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great [is] the glory of the LORD.

und sollen singen von den Wegen Jahwes, denn die Herrlichkeit Jahwes ist groß.

6 Though the LORD [is] high, yet hath he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Denn erhaben ist Jahwe und sieht den Niedrigen und erkennt den Stolzen von ferne.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand will save me.

Wenn ich inmitten von Drangsal wandeln muß, wirst du mich am Leben erhalten! Wider den Zorn meiner Feinde wirst du deine Hand ausstrecken, und deine Rechte wird mir helfen.

8 The LORD will perfect [that which] concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, [endureth] for ever: forsake not the works thy own hands.

Jahwe wird's für mich vollenden: Jahwe, deine Gnade währt ewig, laß deiner Hände Werke nicht fahren!
