Psalms 138

1 [A Psalm] of David. I will praise thee with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to thee.

À David (ou de David lui-même ).

2 I will worship towards thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy loving-kindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

J’adorerai en me tournant vers votre saint temple, et je glorifierai votre nom,

3 In the day when I cried thou didst answer me, [and] strengthen me [with] strength in my soul.

En quelque jour que je vous invoque, exaucez-moi; vous augmenterez en mon âme la force.

4 All the kings of the earth shall praise thee, O LORD, when they hear the words of thy mouth.

Qu’ils vous glorifient, Seigneur, tous les rois de la terre, parce qu’ils ont entendu toutes les paroles de votre bouche;

5 Yes, they shall sing in the ways of the LORD: for great [is] the glory of the LORD.

Et qu’ils chantent dans les voies du Seigneur, parce que grande est la gloire du Seigneur.

6 Though the LORD [is] high, yet hath he respect to the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.

Car le Seigneur est élevé, et il regarde les choses basses; et les choses hautes, c’est de loin qu’il les connaît.

7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou wilt stretch forth thy hand against the wrath of my enemies, and thy right hand will save me.

Si je marche au milieu de la tribulation, vous me donnerez la vie; et sur la colère de mes ennemis vous avez étendu votre main, et votre droite m’a sauvé.

8 The LORD will perfect [that which] concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, [endureth] for ever: forsake not the works thy own hands.

Le Seigneur rétribuera pour moi: Seigneur, votre miséricorde est pour jamais, ne méprisez pas les ouvrages de vos mains.
