Psalms 118
1 O give thanks to the LORD; for [he is] good: because his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Alléluiah! Rendez gloire au Seigneur, parce qu'il est bon, et que sa miséricorde est éternelle.
2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Que la maison d'Israël dise qu'il est bon, et sa miséricorde éternelle.
3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Que la maison d'Aaron dise qu'il est bon, et sa miséricorde éternelle.
4 Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Que tous ceux qui craignent le Seigneur disent qu'il est bon, et sa miséricorde éternelle.
5 I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, [and set me] in a large place.
Dans la tribulation j'ai invoqué le Seigneur, et il m'a exaucé, et il m'a mis au large.
6 The LORD [is] on my side; I will not fear: what can man do to me?
Que le Seigneur soit mon champion, et je ne craindrai rien de ce que l'homme peut me faire.
7 The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see [my desire] upon them that hate me.
Que le Seigneur soit mon champion, et moi je mépriserai mes ennemis.
8 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.
Mieux vaut se confier au Seigneur que se confier à l'homme.
9 [It is] better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes.
Mieux vaut espérer dans le Seigneur qu'espérer dans les princes.
10 All nations encompassed me: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
Toutes les nations m'avaient environné; mais, au nom du Seigneur, je les ai repoussées.
11 They encompassed me; yes, they encompassed me: but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Elles m'avaient enfermé dans un cercle pour m'envelopper; mais, au nom du Seigneur, je les ai repoussées.
12 They encompassed me like bees; they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the LORD I will destroy them.
Elles se pressaient autour de moi comme des abeilles autour d'un rayon de miel; elles lançaient des flammes, comme des épines en feu; mais, au nom du Seigneur, je les ai repoussées.
13 Thou hast violently thrust at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.
À leur choc j'ai craint de tomber, et le Seigneur m'a secouru.
14 The LORD [is] my strength and song, and is become my salvation.
Le Seigneur est ma force et ma louange; c'est lui qui m'a sauvé.
15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation [is] in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
La voix de l'allégresse et du salut est sous les tentes des justes; la droite du Seigneur a fait œuvre de puissance.
16 The right hand of the LORD is exalted: the right hand of the LORD doeth valiantly.
La droite du Seigneur m'a élevé; la droite du Seigneur a fait œuvre de puissance.
17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.
Je ne mourrai point; mais je vivrai et je raconterai les œuvres du Seigneur.
18 The LORD hath chastened me severely: but he hath not given me over to death.
Le Seigneur m'a châtié pour me corriger; mais il ne m'a point livré à la mort.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will enter them, [and] I will praise the LORD:
Ouvrez-moi les portes de la justice, et je les franchirai, et je rendrai gloire au Seigneur.
20 This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.
C'est la porte du Seigneur, c'est par elle que les justes entreront.
21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.
Je te rendrai gloire, parce que tu m'as exaucé, et que tu as été mon salut.
22 The stone [which] the builders refused is become the head [stone] of the corner.
La pierre que les constructeurs avaient rejetée est devenue la pierre angulaire de l'édifice.
23 This is the LORD'S doing; it [is] wonderful in our eyes.
C'est le Seigneur qui a fait cela, et nos yeux en sont émerveillés.
24 This [is] the day [which] the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Voici le jour qu'a fait le Seigneur; tressaillons et réjouissons-nous en ce jour.
25 Save now, I beseech thee, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.
Seigneur, sauve-moi; Seigneur, fais-moi prospérer.
26 Blessed [be] he that cometh in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.
Béni soit celui qui vient au nom du Seigneur. Nous vous avons bénis de la maison du Seigneur.
27 God [is] the LORD, who hath shown us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, [even] to the horns of the altar.
Dieu, c'est le Seigneur; il a brillé à nos yeux: célébrez une fête solennelle avec des rameaux touffus, et ombragez jusqu'aux cornes de l'autel.
28 Thou [art] my God, and I will praise thee: [thou art] my God, I will exalt thee.
Tu es mon Dieu, et je te rendrai gloire; tu es mon Dieu, et je t'exalterai; je te rendrai gloire, parce que tu m'as exaucé, et que tu as été mon salut.
29 O give thanks to the LORD; for [he is] good: for his mercy [endureth] for ever.
Rendez gloire au Seigneur, parce qu'il est bon, et que sa miséricorde est éternelle.
