Psalms 104
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul. O LORD my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with honor and majesty.
Preise, meine Seele, Jahwe! Jahwe, mein Gott, du bist überaus groß; mit Majestät und Hoheit bist du angethan,
2 Who coverest [thyself] with light as [with] a garment: who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:
der sich in Licht hüllt wie in einen Mantel, den Himmel ausspannt wie ein Zelttuch,
3 Who layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters: who maketh the clouds his chariot: who walketh upon the wings of the wind:
der seinen Söller im Wasser bälkt, dichte Wolken zu seinem Fahrzeuge macht, auf den Fittigen des Windes wandelt,
4 Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flaming fire:
der Winde zu seinen Boten macht, zu seinen Dienern loderndes Feuer.
5 [Who] laid the foundations of the earth, [that] it should not be removed for ever.
Er hat die Erde auf ihre Pfeiler gegründet, daß sie in alle Ewigkeit nicht wanken kann.
6 Thou coveredst it with the deep as [with] a garment: the waters stood above the mountains.
Mit der Flut wie mit einem Gewande bedecktest du sie; auf den Bergen standen Gewässer.
7 At thy rebuke they fled; at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away.
Vor deinem Schelten flohen sie, vor deinem Donnerschall zogen sie sich angstvoll zurück -
8 They go up by the mountains; they go down by the valleys to the place which thou hast founded for them.
Berge stiegen empor, es senkten sich Thäler - an die Stätte, die du ihnen gegründet.
9 Thou hast set a bound that they may not pass over; that they turn not again to cover the earth.
Du hast eine Grenze gesetzt, die dürfen sie nicht überschreiten, dürfen die Erde nicht wieder bedecken.
10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, [which] run among the hills.
Der in den Thälern Quellen entsendet; zwischen den Bergen fließen sie dahin.
11 They give drink to every beast of the field: the wild asses quench their thirst.
Sie tränken alle Tiere des Gefildes; die Wildesel löschen ihren Durst.
12 By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, [which] sing among the branches.
An ihnen wohnen die Vögel des Himmels, lassen aus den Zweigen heraus ihre Stimme erschallen.
13 He watereth the hills from his chambers: the earth is satisfied with the fruit of thy works.
Der von seinem Söller her die Berge tränkt - von der Frucht deiner Werke sättigt sich die Erde.
14 He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth;
Der Gras sprossen läßt für das Vieh und Pflanzen zum Nutzen der Menschen, indem er Brotkorn aus der Erde hervorgehen läßt
15 And wine [that] maketh glad the heart of man, [and] oil to make [his] face to shine, and bread [which] strengtheneth man's heart.
und Wein, der des Menschen Herz erfreut, und indem er ihr Angesicht von Öl erglänzen läßt und Brot giebt, das das Herz des Menschen stärkt.
16 The trees of the LORD are full [of sap]; the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted;
Es sättigen sich die Bäume Jahwes, die Cedern des Libanon, die er gepflanzt hat,
17 Where the birds make their nests: [as for] the stork, the fir-trees [are] her house.
woselbst die Vögel nisten; auf den Cypressen hat der Storch sein Haus.
18 The high hills [are] a refuge for the wild goats; [and] the rocks for the conies.
Die hohen Berge sind der Steinböcke, die Felsen der Klippdachse Zuflucht.
19 He appointeth the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down.
Er hat den Mond zur Bestimmung von Zeiträumen geschaffen; die Sonne kennt ihren Untergang.
20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night: in which all the beasts of the forest do creep [forth].
Wirkst du Finsternis, so wird es Nacht; in ihr regen sich alle Tiere des Waldes.
21 The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their food from God.
Die jungen Löwen brüllen nach Fraß, indem sie von Gott ihre Nahrung verlangen.
22 The sun ariseth, they collect, and lay themselves down in their dens.
Wenn die Sonne aufgeht, ziehen sie sich zurück und lagern sich in ihrer Behausung.
23 Man goeth forth to his work and to his labor until the evening.
Der Mensch geht aus an sein Werk und an seine Arbeit bis zum Abend.
24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.
Wie sind deiner Werke so viel, Jahwe! Du hast sie alle in Weisheit geschaffen; die Erde ist voll von deinen Geschöpfen.
25 [So is] this great and wide sea, in which [are] creeping animals innumerable, both small and great beasts.
Da ist das Meer, groß und weit nach beiden Seiten, darin ein Gewimmel ohne Zahl, kleine und große Tiere.
26 There go the ships: [there is] that leviathan, [which] thou hast made to play therein.
Daselbst gehen Schiffe, der Leviathan, den du geschaffen hast, darin zu spielen.
27 These wait all upon thee; that thou mayest give [them] their food in due season.
Sie alle warten auf dich, daß du ihnen zu seiner Zeit ihre Speise gebest.
28 [That which] thou givest them, they gather: thou openest thy hand, they are filled with good.
Du giebst ihnen, sie lesen auf; du thust deine Hand auf, sie sättigen sich mit Gutem.
29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.
Du verbirgst dein Antlitz, sie werden bestürzt; du ziehst ihren Odem ein, sie verhauchen und werden wieder zu Erde.
30 Thou sendest forth thy spirit, they are created: and thou renewest the face of the earth.
Du entsendest deinen Odem, sie werden geschaffen, und du erneust das Angesicht der Erde.
31 The glory of the LORD shall endure for ever: the LORD shall rejoice in his works.
Die Herrlichkeit Jahwes währt ewig, Jahwe freut sich seiner Werke!
32 He looketh on the earth, and it trembleth: he toucheth the hills, and they smoke.
der die Erde anblickt, daß sie erzittert, die Berge anrührt, daß sie rauchen.
33 I will sing to the LORD as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
Ich will Jahwe singen mein Leben lang, meinem Gotte lobsingen, so lange ich bin.
34 My meditation of him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD.
Möge ihm mein Dichten wohlgefallen; ich freue mich Jahwes!
35 Let sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.
Möchten die Sünder von der Erde verschwinden, und die Gottlosen nicht mehr sein. Preise, meine Seele, Jahwe! Rühmet Jah!
