Proverbs 7
1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੇ ਆਖੇ ਲੱਗ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਕੋਲ ਰੱਖ ਛੱਡ।
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thy eye.
੨ਮੇਰੇ ਹੁਕਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੰਨ ਅਤੇ ਜੀਉਂਦਾ ਰਹਿ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਅੱਖ ਦੀ ਕਾਕੀ ਵਰਗੀ ਜਾਣ।
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thy heart.
੩ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਉਂਗਲਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਬੰਨ੍ਹ ਲੈ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੀ ਤਖ਼ਤੀ ਉੱਤੇ ਲਿਖ ਲੈ।
4 Say to wisdom, Thou [art] my sister; and call understanding [thy] kinswoman:
੪ਬੁੱਧ ਨੂੰ ਆਖ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਭੈਣ ਹੈਂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀ ਆਖ, ਤੂੰ ਮੇਰੀ ਸਾਥਣ ਹੈਂ,
5 That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger [which] flattereth with her words.
੫ਤਾਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਪਰਾਈ ਔਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਬਚਾਈ ਰੱਖਣ, ਉਸ ਓਪਰੀ ਔਰਤ ਤੋਂ ਜਿਹੜੀ ਚਿਕਨੀਆਂ-ਚੋਪੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
6 For at the window of my house I looked through my casement,
੬ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਖਿੜਕੀ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
7 And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding,
੭ਤਾਂ ਮੈਂ ਭੋਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ, ਇੱਕ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਗੱਭਰੂ ਜੁਆਨ ਵੇਖਿਆ,
8 Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house.
੮ਉਹ ਉਸ ਔਰਤ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦੀ ਨੁੱਕਰ ਦੇ ਨੇੜ੍ਹੇ ਦੀ ਗਲੀ ਵਿੱਚੋਂ ਦੀ ਲੰਘਿਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘਰ ਦਾ ਰਾਹ ਫੜ੍ਹਿਆ,
9 In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night:
੯ਦਿਨ ਢਲੇ, ਸ਼ਾਮ ਦੇ ਵੇਲੇ, ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲੀ ਰਾਤ ਦੇ ਹਨੇਰੇ ਵਿੱਚ।
10 And behold, there met him a woman [with] the attire of a harlot, and subtil of heart.
੧੦ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ, ਇੱਕ ਔਰਤ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆ ਮਿਲੀ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਭੇਸ ਕੰਜਰੀ ਦੇ ਭੇਸ ਜਿਹਾ ਸੀ ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਮਨਮੋਹਣੀ ਸੀ।
11 (She [is] loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house:
੧੧ਉਹ ਬੜਬੋਲੀ ਅਤੇ ਮਨ-ਮੱਤਣੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਪੈਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਟਿਕਦੇ।
12 Now [is she] without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.)
੧੨ਉਹ ਕਦੀ ਸੜਕਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ, ਕਦੀ ਚੌਂਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰੇਕ ਮੋੜ ਉੱਤੇ ਉਹ ਇੰਤਜ਼ਾਰ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ।
13 So she caught him, and kissed him, [and] with an impudent face said to him,
੧੩ਸੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫੜ੍ਹ ਕੇ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਚੁੰਮ ਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਬੇਸ਼ਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਿਆ,
14 [I have] peace-offerings with me; this day have I paid my vows.
੧੪ਮੈਂ ਮੇਲ ਦੀਆਂ ਭੇਟਾਂ ਚੜ੍ਹਾਉਣੀਆਂ ਸਨ, ਅਤੇ ਅੱਜ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਸੁੱਖਣਾ ਪੂਰੀਆਂ ਕੀਤੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
15 Therefore I came forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
੧੫ਇਸੇ ਲਈ ਮੈਂ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਣ ਅਤੇ ਲੱਭਣ ਨੂੰ ਨਿੱਕਲੀ ਹਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਤੂੰ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭ ਪਿਆ ਹੈਂ।
16 I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved [works], with fine linen of Egypt.
੧੬ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੀ ਸੇਜ਼ ਉੱਤੇ ਪਲੰਗ ਪੋਸ਼, ਅਤੇ ਮਿਸਰ ਦੇ ਸੂਤ ਦੇ ਰੰਗਦਾਰ ਵਿਛਾਉਣੇ ਵਿਛਾਏ:
17 I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon.
੧੭ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਛਾਉਣੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਗੰਧਰਸ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਰ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਲਚੀਨੀ ਛਿੜਕੀ ਹੈ।
18 Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves.
੧੮ਆ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਵੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਤੇ ਜਾਈਏ, ਲਾਡ-ਪਿਆਰ ਨਾਲ ਅਸੀਂ ਜੀ ਬਹਿਲਾਈਏ,
19 For the good-man [is] not at home, he is gone a long journey:
੧੯ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੇਰਾ ਪਤੀ ਘਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੂਰ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਫ਼ਰ ਤੇ ਗਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ।
20 He hath taken a bag of money with him, [and] will come home at the day appointed.
੨੦ਉਹ ਰੁਪਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਥਲੀ ਨਾਲ ਲੈ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਪੂਰਨਮਾਸੀ ਨੂੰ ਘਰ ਆਵੇਗਾ।
21 With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she impelled him.
੨੧ਉਹ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਬਾਹਲੀਆਂ ਚਿਕਨੀਆਂ-ਚੋਪੜੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਫ਼ੁਸਲਾ ਲਿਆ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੱਲੋ-ਪੱਤੋ ਨਾਲ ਧੱਕੋ-ਧੱਕੀ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੈ ਗਈ।
22 He goeth after her quickly, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks;
੨੨ਉਹ ਝੱਟ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਗਰ ਹੋ ਤੁਰਿਆ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਬਲ਼ਦ ਵੱਢੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ, ਜਾਂ ਬੇੜੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਈ ਮੂਰਖ ਸਜ਼ਾ ਲਈ ਜਾਵੇ,
23 Till a dart striketh through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it [is] for his life.
੨੩ਜਦ ਤੱਕ ਤੀਰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਕਲੇਜੇ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਵਿੰਨੇ, ਜਿਵੇਂ ਪੰਛੀ ਫਾਹੀ ਵੱਲ ਨੂੰ ਛੇਤੀ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਵੇ, ਅਤੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਭਈ ਇਹ ਉਹ ਉਸ ਦੀ ਜਾਨ ਲੈਣ ਲਈ ਹੈ।
24 Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth.
੨੪ਹੁਣ ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰੋ, ਤੁਸੀਂ ਮੇਰੀ ਸੁਣੋ, ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਮੂੰਹ ਦੇ ਬਚਨਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਧਿਆਨ ਲਾਓ।
25 Let not thy heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths.
੨੫ਉਹ ਦੇ ਰਾਹਾਂ ਵੱਲ ਤੇਰਾ ਚਿੱਤ ਨਾ ਲੱਗੇ, ਤੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਮਾਰਗਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਭਟਕਦਾ ਫਿਰੀਂ,
26 For she hath cast down many wounded: yes, many strong [men] have been slain by her.
੨੬ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਬਹੁਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਜ਼ਖ਼ਮੀ ਕਰਕੇ ਡੇਗ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਘਾਤ ਕੀਤੇ ਹੋਏ ਢੇਰ ਸਾਰੇ ਹਨ!
