Proverbs 5
1 My son, attend to my wisdom, [and] bow thy ear to my understanding:
Mon fils, sois attentif à ma sagesse. Prêtez l'oreille à ma compréhension,
2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and [that] thy lips may keep knowledge.
que vous puissiez garder la discrétion, pour que vos lèvres conservent la connaissance.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop [as] a honey-comb, and her mouth [is] smoother than oil:
Car les lèvres d'une femme adultère dégouttent de miel. Sa bouche est plus lisse que de l'huile,
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
mais à la fin elle est aussi amère que l'absinthe, et aussi tranchant qu'une épée à deux tranchants.
Ses pieds descendent vers la mort. Ses pas mènent directement à Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
6 Lest thou shouldst ponder the path of life, her ways are movable, [that] thou canst not know [them].
Elle ne réfléchit pas à la manière de vivre. Ses chemins sont tortueux, et elle ne le sait pas.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi. Ne t'écarte pas des paroles de ma bouche.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Retire ton chemin loin d'elle. Ne vous approchez pas de la porte de sa maison,
9 Lest thou give thy honor to others, and thy years to the cruel:
de peur que tu ne donnes ton honneur à d'autres, et vos années à la cruelle;
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labors [be] in the house of a stranger;
de peur que des étrangers ne fassent un festin de vos richesses, et vos travaux enrichissent la maison d'un autre homme.
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
Tu gémiras à la fin de ta vie, quand ta chair et ton corps seront consumés,
12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
et dire: « Comme j'ai haï l'instruction! et mon cœur a méprisé la réprimande.
13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to them that instructed me!
Je n'ai pas obéi à la voix de mes maîtres, ni prêté l'oreille à ceux qui m'instruisaient!
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
Je suis au bord de la ruine, parmi l'assemblée réunie. »
15 Drink waters out of thy own cistern, and running waters out of thy own well.
Buvez l'eau de votre propre citerne, de l'eau courante provenant de votre propre puits.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, [and] rivers of waters in the streets.
Si tes sources débordent dans les rues, des ruisseaux d'eau sur les places publiques?
17 Let them be only thy own, and not for strangers with thee.
Qu'ils soient pour toi seul, pas pour les étrangers avec vous.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
Que votre printemps soit béni. Réjouis-toi de la femme de ta jeunesse.
19 [Let her be as] the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
Une biche aimante et un cerf gracieux- laisse ses seins te satisfaire à tout moment. Soyez toujours captivé par son amour.
20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
Car pourquoi toi, mon fils, serais-tu captivé par une adultère? Pourquoi embrasser le sein d'un autre?
21 For the ways of man [are] before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
Car les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de Yahvé. Il examine tous ses chemins.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sins.
Les mauvaises actions des méchants le prennent au piège. Les cordes de son péché le retiennent fermement.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
Il mourra par manque d'instruction. Dans la grandeur de sa folie, il s'égarera.
