Proverbs 30
1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, [even] the prophecy: the man spoke to Ithiel, even to Ithiel and Ucal,
Słowa Agura, syna Jake, proroctwo tego człowieka do Itiela, do Itiela i Ukala.
2 Surely I [am] more brutish than [any] man, and have not the understanding of a man.
Zaprawdę jestem najgłupszym z ludzi i nie mam ludzkiego rozumu.
3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
Ani nie nauczyłem się mądrości, ani nie mam wiedzy o tym, co święty.
4 Who hath ascended into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what [is] his name, and what [is] his son's name, if thou canst tell?
Któż wstąpił do nieba i zstąpił? Któż zebrał wiatr w swoje garście? Któż zgarnął wody do [swej] szaty? Któż utwierdził wszystkie krańce ziemi? Jakie [jest] jego imię? A jakie [jest] imię jego syna? Czy wiesz?
5 Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield to them that put their trust in him.
Każde słowo Boga jest czyste; on [jest] tarczą dla tych, którzy mu ufają.
6 Add thou not to his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Nie dodawaj nic do jego słów, aby cię nie strofował i abyś nie okazał się kłamcą.
7 Two [things] have I required of thee; deny [them] not to me before I die:
Proszę cię o dwie rzeczy; nie odmawiaj mi [ich], zanim umrę.
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies; give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
Oddal ode mnie marność i słowo kłamliwe; nie dawaj mi ani ubóstwa, ani bogactwa; żyw mnie odpowiednim dla mnie pokarmem;
9 Lest I be full, and deny [thee], and say, Who [is] the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God [in vain].
Abym będąc syty, nie zaparł się [ciebie] i nie mówił: Kim jest PAN? Albo zubożawszy, nie kradł i nie brał imienia mego Boga [nadaremnie].
10 Accuse not a servant to his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
Nie oczerniaj sługi przed jego panem, aby ci nie złorzeczył i byś nie okazał się winny.
11 [There is] a generation [that] curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
[Jest] pokolenie, które złorzeczy swemu ojcu i nie błogosławi swojej matce.
12 [There is] a generation [that are] pure in their own eyes, and [yet] are not washed from their filthiness.
[Jest] pokolenie, które we własnych oczach jest czyste, lecz nie jest obmyte ze swego plugastwa.
13 [There is] a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
[Jest] pokolenie, którego oczy są wyniosłe i powieki wzniesione.
14 [There is] a generation, whose teeth [are as] swords, and their jaw-teeth [as] knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from [among] men.
[Jest] pokolenie, którego zęby [są jak] miecze, a zęby trzonowe [jak] noże, by pożreć ubogich na ziemi i nędzarzy spośród ludzi.
15 The horse-leech hath two daughters, [crying], Give, give. There are three [things that] are never satisfied, [yes], four [things] say not, [It is] enough:
Pijawka ma dwie córki, [które mówią]: Daj, daj. Trzy są rzeczy, które nie mogą się nasycić; cztery, które nie mówią: Dość.
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth [that] is not filled with water; and the fire [that] saith not, [It is] enough. (Sheol h7585)
Grób, niepłodne łono, ziemia niesyta wody i ogień, [który] nie mówi: Dość. (Sheol h7585)
17 The eye [that] mocketh at [its] father, and despiseth to obey [its] mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Oko, [które] wyśmiewa ojca i gardzi posłuszeństwem matce, wydziobią kruki [nad] potokami i wyjedzą orlęta.
18 There are three [things which] are too wonderful for me, yes, four which I know not:
Trzy [są] rzeczy dla mnie zbyt zdumiewające, czterech nie znam:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
Drogi orła w powietrzu, drogi węża na skale, drogi okrętu na środku morza i drogi mężczyzny z młodą kobietą.
20 Such [is] the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
Taka [jest] droga kobiety cudzołożnej: je i obciera swoje usta, i mówi: Nie zrobiłam nic złego.
21 For three [things] the earth is disquieted, and for four [which] it cannot bear:
Pod trzema rzeczami drży ziemia, czterech nie może znieść:
22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with food.
Sługi, kiedy panuje, głupca, kiedy syci się chlebem;
23 For an odious [woman] when she is married; and a handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
Obmierzłej [kobiety], kiedy wychodzi za mąż, [i] służącej, kiedy dziedziczy po swojej pani.
24 There are four [things which are] little upon the earth, but they [are] very wise:
Cztery są rzeczy najmniejsze na ziemi, jednak mędrsze nad mędrców:
25 The ants [are] a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer;
Mrówki, lud słaby, a jednak w lecie przygotowują pokarm;
26 The conies [are but] a feeble people, yet they make their houses in the rocks;
Króliki, lud słaby, a jednak budują swój dom w skale;
27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
Szarańcze nie mają króla, a jednak wszystkie wyruszają chmarą;
28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in king's palaces.
Pająk pracuje rękoma, a bywa w pałacach królewskich.
29 There are three [things] which go well, yes, four are comely in going:
Trzy są rzeczy, które poruszają się wspaniale, cztery kroczą dostojnie:
30 A lion, [which is] strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
Lew, najsilniejszy wśród zwierząt, który przed nikim nie ustępuje;
31 A greyhound; a he-goat also; and a king, against whom [there is] no rising up.
Chart i kozioł, i król, przeciw któremu nikt nie powstaje.
32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, [lay] thy hand upon thy mouth.
Jeśli głupio postąpiłeś, wynosząc się, albo jeśli pomyślałeś źle, [połóż] rękę na ustach.
33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
Jak ubijanie mleka daje masło i wycieranie nosa wywołuje krew, tak kto wzbudza gniew, wszczyna kłótnię.
