Proverbs 27
1 Boast not thyself of to-morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
Não presumas do dia de amanhã, porque não sabes o que parirá o dia.
2 Let another man praise thee, and not thy own mouth; a stranger, and not thy own lips.
Louve-te o estranho, e não a tua boca, o estrangeiro e não os teus lábios.
3 A stone [is] heavy, and the sand weighty; but a fool's wrath [is] heavier than both.
Pesada é a pedra, e a areia é carregada; porém a ira do insensato é mais pesada do que elas ambas.
4 Wrath [is] cruel, and anger [is] outrageous; but who [is] able to stand before envy?
Cruel é o furor e a impetuosa ira, mas quem parará perante a inveja?
5 Open rebuke [is] better than secret love.
Melhor é a repreensão aberta do que o amor encoberto.
6 Faithful [are] the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy [are] deceitful.
Fieis são as feridas feitas pelo que ama, mas os beijos do que aborrece são enganosos.
7 The full soul lotheth a honey-comb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
A alma farta piza o favo de mel, mas à alma faminta todo o amargo é doce.
8 As a bird that wandereth from her nest, so [is] a man that wandereth from his place.
Qual é a ave que vagueia do seu ninho, tal é o homem que anda vagueando do seu lugar.
9 Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart: so [doth] the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.
O óleo e o perfume alegram o coração: assim a doença do amigo de alguém com o conselho cordial.
10 Thy own friend, and thy father's friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother's house in the day of thy calamity: [for] better [is] a neighbor [that is] near, than a brother far off.
Não deixes a teu amigo, nem ao amigo de teu pai, nem entres na casa de teu irmão no dia da tua adversidade: melhor é o vizinho de perto do que o irmão ao longe.
11 My son, be wise, and make my heart glad, that I may answer him that reproacheth me.
Sê sábio, filho meu, e alegra o meu coração; para que tenha alguma coisa que responder àquele que me desprezar.
12 A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, [and] hideth himself; [but] the simple pass on, [and] are punished.
O avisado vê o mal, e esconde-se; mas os simples passam e pagam a pena.
13 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger, and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
Quando alguém fica por fiador do estranho, toma-lhe tu a sua roupa; e o penhora pela estranha.
14 He that blesseth his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it shall be counted a curse to him.
O que bendiz ao seu amigo em alta voz, madrugando pela manhã, por maldição se lhe contará.
15 A continual dropping in a very rainy day and a contentious woman are alike.
O gotejar contínuo no dia de grande chuva, e a mulher contenciosa, uma e outra são semelhantes.
16 Whoever hideth her hideth the wind, and the ointment of his right hand [which] bewrayeth [itself].
Todos os que a esconderem esconderão o vento: e o óleo da sua dextra clama.
17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.
Como o ferro com o ferro se aguça, assim o homem aguça o rosto do seu amigo.
18 He that keepeth the fig-tree shall eat the fruit of it: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honored.
O que guarda a figueira comerá do seu fruto; e o que atenta para seu senhor, será honrado.
19 As in water face [answereth] to face, so the heart of man to man.
Como na água o rosto corresponde ao rosto, assim o coração do homem ao homem.
Como o inferno e a perdição nunca se fartam, assim os olhos do homem nunca se fartam. (Sheol h7585)
21 [As] the fining-pot for silver, and the furnace for gold; so [is] a man to his praise.
Como o crisol é para a prata, e o forno para o ouro, assim se prova o homem pelos louvores.
22 Though thou shouldst bray a fool in a mortar among wheat with a pestle, [yet] his foolishness will not depart from him.
Ainda quando pizares o tolo com uma mão de gral entre grãos de cevada pilada, não se irá dele a sua estultícia.
23 Be thou diligent to know the state of thy flocks, [and] look well to thy herds.
Procura conhecer o estado das tuas ovelhas: põe o teu coração sobre o gado.
24 For riches [are] not for ever: and doth the crown [endure] to every generation?
Porque o tesouro não dura para sempre: ou durará a coroa de geração em geração?
25 The plant appeareth, and the tender grass showeth itself, and herbs of the mountains are gathered.
Quando se mostrar a erva, e aparecerem os renovos, então ajunta as hervas dos montes.
26 The lambs [are] for thy clothing, and the goats [are] the price of the field.
Os cordeiros serão para te vestires, e os bodes para o preço do campo.
27 And [thou shalt have] goats milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and [for] maintenance for thy maidens.
E a abastança do leite das cabras para o teu sustento, para sustento da tua casa, e para sustento das tuas criadas.
