Proverbs 24
1 Be not thou envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
੧ਬੁਰਿਆਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੁਣਸ ਨਾ ਕਰ, ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਸੰਗਤ ਦੀ ਚਾਹ ਰੱਖ,
2 For their heart studieth destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਮਨ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਬੁੱਲ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਤਾ ਦੀਆਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
3 Through wisdom is a house built; and by understanding it is established:
੩ਬੁੱਧ ਨਾਲ ਘਰ ਬਣਾਈਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਸਮਝ ਨਾਲ ਉਹ ਸਥਿਰ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
4 And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
੪ਗਿਆਨ ਦੇ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਕੋਠੜੀਆਂ ਸਭ ਪਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਅਣਮੁੱਲ ਅਤੇ ਮਨਭਾਉਂਦੇ ਪਦਾਰਥਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਭਰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
5 A wise man [is] strong; and a man of knowledge increaseth strength.
੫ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਬਲਵਾਨ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਗਿਆਨੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਵਧਾਈ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
6 For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counselors [there is] safety.
੬ਤੂੰ ਚੰਗੀ ਮੱਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਯੁੱਧ ਕਰ, ਬਹੁਤੇ ਸਲਾਹੂਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਬਚਾਓ ਹੈ।
7 Wisdom [is] too high for a fool: he openeth not his mouth in the gate.
੭ਬੁੱਧ ਮੂਰਖ ਲਈ ਬਹੁਤ ਉੱਚੀ ਹੈ, ਸਭਾ ਦੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਕੁਝ ਵੀ ਕਹਿ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਕਦਾ।
8 He that deviseth to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
੮ਜਿਹੜਾ ਬੁਰਿਆਈ ਸੋਚਦਾ ਹੈ, ਲੋਕ ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਸਾਜਸ਼ੀ ਆਖਣਗੇ।
9 The thought of foolishness [is] sin: and the scorner [is] an abomination to men.
੯ਮੂਰਖਤਾਈ ਦਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਹੀ ਪਾਪ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਠੱਠਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੇ ਤੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
10 [If] thou faintest in the day of adversity, thy strength [is] small.
੧੦ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਢਿੱਲਾ ਪੈ ਜਾਵੇਂ, ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਬਲ ਘੱਟ ਹੈ।
11 If thou forbearest to deliver [them that are] drawn to death, and [those that are] ready to be slain;
੧੧ਜਿਹੜੇ ਮਾਰੇ ਜਾਣ ਲਈ ਲਿਜਾਏ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਛੁਡਾ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਘਾਤ ਹੋਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਹਨ, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਫੜਵਾ।
12 If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth the heart consider [it]? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth [not] he know [it]? and will [not] he render to [every] man according to his works?
੧੨ਜੇ ਤੂੰ ਆਖੇਂ, ਲਓ, ਸਾਨੂੰ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਹੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਸੀ, ਤਾਂ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦਿਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਜਾਚਦਾ ਹੈ ਭਲਾ, ਉਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਮਝਦਾ? ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਦਾ ਰਾਖ਼ਾ ਇਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾਣਦਾ? ਭਲਾ, ਉਹ ਆਦਮੀ ਨੂੰ ਉਹ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਰਨੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਨਾ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ?
13 My son, eat thou honey, because [it is] good; and the honey-comb, [which is] sweet to thy taste:
੧੩ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਤੂੰ ਸ਼ਹਿਦ ਖਾਹ, ਉਹ ਚੰਗਾ ਜੋ ਹੈ, ਅਤੇ ਮਖ਼ੀਰ ਦਾ ਟਪਕਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਤਾਲੂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿੱਠਾ ਲੱਗੇਗਾ,
14 So [shall] the knowledge of wisdom [be] to thy soul: when thou hast found [it], then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
੧੪ਜਾਣ ਲੈ ਕਿ ਬੁੱਧ ਤੇਰੀ ਜਾਨ ਲਈ ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਹੈ, ਜੇ ਉਹ ਤੈਨੂੰ ਲੱਭੇ ਤਾਂ ਅੰਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਸ ਦਾ ਫਲ ਵੀ ਮਿਲੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਨਾ ਟੁੱਟੇਗੀ।
15 Lay not wait, O wicked [man], against the dwelling of the righteous; destroy not his resting-place:
੧੫ਹੇ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ, ਧਰਮੀ ਦੀ ਵੱਸੋਂ ਦੀ ਘਾਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਾ ਬੈਠ! ਉਹ ਦੇ ਥਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਾ ਉਜਾੜ!
16 For a just [man] falleth seven times, and riseth again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
੧੬ਧਰਮੀ ਸੱਤ ਵਾਰੀ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਉੱਠ ਖਲੋਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਿੱਗ ਕੇ ਪਏ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
17 Rejoice not when thy enemy falleth, and let not thy heart be glad when he stumbleth:
੧੭ਜਦ ਤੇਰਾ ਵੈਰੀ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੂੰ ਅਨੰਦ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੀਂ, ਅਤੇ ਜਾਂ ਉਹ ਠੋਕਰ ਖਾਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਤੇਰਾ ਮਨ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਨਾ ਹੋਵੇ,
18 Lest the LORD see [it], and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
੧੮ਕਿਤੇ ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਬੁਰਾ ਮੰਨੇ, ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਕ੍ਰੋਧ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਹਟਾ ਲਵੇ।
19 Fret not thyself because of evil [men], neither be thou envious at the wicked;
੧੯ਕੁਕਰਮੀ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ ਤੂੰ ਨਾ ਕੁੜ੍ਹ ਨਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਖੁਣਸ ਕਰ,
20 For there shall be no reward to the evil [man]; the candle of the wicked shall be extinguished.
੨੦ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਬੁਰਿਆਰ ਲਈ ਅੱਗੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਆਸ ਨਹੀਂ, ਦੁਸ਼ਟਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਵਾ ਬੁਝਾਇਆ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।
21 My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: [and] meddle not with them that are given to change:
੨੧ਹੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ, ਯਹੋਵਾਹ ਦਾ ਅਤੇ ਰਾਜੇ ਦਾ ਭੈਅ ਮੰਨ, ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਰੋਹੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਨਾ ਰਲ,
22 For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
੨੨ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਬਿਪਤਾ ਅਚਾਨਕ ਆਵੇਗੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੋਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਬਰਬਾਦੀ ਨੂੰ ਕੌਣ ਜਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ?
23 These [things] also [belong] to the wise. [It is] not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
੨੩ਇਹ ਵੀ ਬੁੱਧਵਾਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਕ ਹਨ, ਅਦਾਲਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੱਖਪਾਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਚੰਗੀ ਗੱਲ ਨਹੀਂ।
24 He that saith to the wicked, Thou [art] righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
੨੪ਜਿਹੜਾ ਦੁਸ਼ਟ ਨੂੰ ਆਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੂੰ ਧਰਮੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਨੂੰ ਲੋਕ ਫਿਟਕਾਰਨਗੇ ਤੇ ਉੱਮਤਾਂ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਘਿਣ ਕਰਨਗੀਆਂ,
25 But to them that rebuke [him] shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come upon them.
੨੫ਪਰ ਜੋ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਤਾੜਦੇ ਹਨ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ ਹੋਵੇਗਾ, ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਚੰਗੀ ਤੋਂ ਚੰਗੀ ਬਰਕਤ ਆਵੇਗੀ।
26 [Every man] shall kiss [his] lips that giveth a right answer.
੨੬ਜਿਹੜਾ ਸੱਚਾ ਉੱਤਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਦੇ ਬੋਲਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਰੇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
27 Prepare thy work without, and make it fit for thyself in the field; and afterwards build thy house.
੨੭ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਬਾਹਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਕੰਮ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰ ਅਤੇ ਖੇਤ ਨੂੰ ਸੁਆਰ, ਫੇਰ ਆਪਣਾ ਘਰ ਬਣਾ।
28 Be not a witness against thy neighbor without cause; and deceive [not] with thy lips.
੨੮ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਆਂਢੀ ਦੇ ਵਿਰੁੱਧ ਝੂਠੀ ਗਵਾਹੀ ਨਾ ਦੇ, ਆਪਣਿਆਂ ਬੁੱਲ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਧੋਖਾ ਨਾ ਦੇ।
29 Say not, I will do so to him as he hath done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
੨੯ਇਹ ਨਾ ਆਖੀਂ ਭਈ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਉਹ ਨੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਨਾਲ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੈ ਤਿਵੇਂ ਮੈਂ ਵੀ ਉਹ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ ਅਤੇ ਉਸ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਦਾ ਬਦਲਾ ਲਵਾਂਗਾ।
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
੩੦ਮੈਂ ਆਲਸੀ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਦੇ ਖੇਤ ਦੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰਬੁੱਧ ਆਦਮੀ ਦੇ ਅੰਗੂਰੀ ਬਾਗ਼ ਦੇ ਨੇੜਿਓਂ ਲੰਘਿਆ,
31 And lo, it was all grown over with thorns, [and] nettles had covered the face of it, and its stone wall was broken down.
੩੧ਤਾਂ ਵੇਖੋ, ਉੱਥੇ ਸਭ ਕੰਡੇ ਹੀ ਕੰਡੇ ਉੱਗੇ ਪਏ ਸਨ, ਉਹ ਭੱਖੜਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਢੱਕਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਅਤੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਪੱਕੀ ਕੰਧ ਢੱਠੀ ਪਈ ਸੀ।
32 Then I saw, [and] considered [it] well: I looked upon [it], [and] received instruction.
੩੨ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖਿਆ ਉਸ ਉੱਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਕੀਤਾ, ਮੈਂ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤ ਕੀਤੀ,
33 [Yet] a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
੩੩ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਨੀਂਦ, ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਊਂਘ, ਰੱਤੀ ਕੁ ਹੱਥ ਇਕੱਠੇ ਕਰਕੇ ਲੰਮਾ ਪੈਣਾ,
34 So shall thy poverty come [as] one that traveleth; and thy want as an armed man.
੩੪ਇਸੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਗਰੀਬੀ ਡਾਕੂ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ, ਅਤੇ ਤੰਗੀ ਸ਼ਸਤਰਧਾਰੀ ਵਾਂਗੂੰ ਤੇਰੇ ਉੱਤੇ ਆ ਪਵੇਗੀ।
