< Proverbs 22 >
1 A [good] name [is] rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favor rather than silver and gold.

2 The rich and poor meet together: the LORD [is] the maker of them all.

3 A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
Miching chun alungthim in hahsatna hung lhung ding avephan, ama le ama akivengdoh jin ahi. Hinlah mi lungthim bei le ima kholtoh louva machalpi chun gimna ato tei ding ahi.
4 By humility [and] the fear of the LORD [are] riches, and honor, and life.
Kineosah pum le Elohim Pathen gin jeh'a kipaman chu haosatna jouse, jabolna chule hinna ahi.
5 Thorns [and] snares [are] in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
Phatlouna jenga chonpa lam lhahna chu ling le khaovin abom jin, koi hileh ling le khao lah'a kiveng thempa chu hoidoh tei ding ahi.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
Chapang chu lamdih jenga khoukhah in, chutileh akhanlhit geija asuhmil lou ding aki lhonpi jing ding ahi.
7 The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower [is] servant to the lender.
Mihao in mivaichate chunga vai ahom in, chule sum bapa jong abatsah napa soh'in apang e.
8 He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
Koi hileh thu adihlou'a tan chun hamsetna ato tei ding, amapa chu lunghang henlang mol-a pansa jongleh, apansahna mol chu atahsa chunga lechuh ding ahibouve.
9 He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
Koi hileh midang mit-ha phatah'a vepa chu phatthei chang ding, ajeh chu aman aneh ding an chu vaicha ho apejin ahi.
10 Cast out the scorner, and contention shall end; yes, strife and reproach shall cease.
Miphalou chon chavei ho chu no-mang un, chutileh kinahna jong beiyin tin, baotamna jouse jong thip hel ding ahi.
11 He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.
Yahweh Pakai in mi lungtheng chu angailun, Koi hileh O ngei sel'a thusei chun lengpa jeng jong gol le paija akisem thei ahi.
12 The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
Yahweh Pakai in hetna kiti hi Amit tenin ave-jing in, chule kitahna bei mi chu apaidoh jin ahi.
13 The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.

14 The mouth of strange women [is] a deep pit: he that is abhorred by the LORD shall fall therein.
Jonlungpu numeinu kamsung hi, kokhuh thuh tah ahin, Yahweh Pakai lung hansah chan chu hiche kokhuh sunga hi lhalut tei ding ahi.
15 Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
Chapang lungthim sunga hi ngolna dimset ahin, hinlah achunga hilchahna aum teng, ngolna chu bei tei ding ahi.
16 He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [riches], [and] he that giveth to the rich, [shall] surely [come] to want.
Hao ding deija mivaicha sugentheija chule ahaopa pehbe mi chu vaichat nan aphah ding ahi.
17 Bow down thy ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thy heart to my knowledge.
Nana hong phan lang miching ho thumop ngaiphan, chule kahetna hi nalung sunga het tei ding gon lang kisanlut in;
18 For [it is] a pleasant thing if thou keepest them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
Ajeh chu hiche ho jouse hi nalung sunga nachin leh, nangma dinga lung nopna'a pang ding, chule aboncha nakam'a na phondoh thei teng, nalung lhai ding ahi.
19 That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
Ajeh chu Yahweh Pakaija nakison theina dinga, tunia hi keiman nangma jah-tah'a kaseipeh nahi.
20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
Keiman nakom'a thumopna le hetthemna thucheng phatah tah kasutdoh peh nahi lou ham?
21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send to thee?
Hitiahi nangman thutah hochu nahet them'a, chutengleh nahinsol ho ang-a thu adih'a na donbut theina dinga kahil nahi.
22 Rob not the poor, because he [is] poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
Najotho man'in mivaicha ho chom hih in, ama chu vaicha tahbeh ahi.
23 For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
Ajeh chu Yahweh Pakai hi amaho vengtup a pang ahin, koi hileh amaho sumang achu Aman asuhmang ding ahi.
24 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
Milung chom le lunghang jing hotoh kivop dan, chule mi lungsa jing hoto jong chekhom hih in.
25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
Hitia chu naum louleh ama tobanga nachon ding, chepaina'a nanei loa nahinkho lamvai ding ahi.
26 Be not thou [one] of them that strike hands, [or] of them that are sureties for debts.
Bat lahna'a batman a kitung doh ho bang in, batsah nan kimoh tun hih in.
27 If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
Asahna ding ima naneitah lou jongleh, nalupna jalkhun geijin pedoh jeng tan.
28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
Napu Napa khang apat gamgi melchihna song chu, nangman na chondoh lou ding ahi.
29 Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean [men].
Lolhingtah'a natong khut them namudoh lou ham? Amachu lengpa ang-sunga bou ding ding, michavei masanga vang ding thei lou ding ahi.
