Proverbs 21
1 The king's heart [is] in the hand of the LORD, [as] the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
बादशाह क़ा दिल ख़ुदावन्द के हाथ में है वह उसको पानी के नालों की तरह जिधर चाहता है फेरता है।
2 Every way of a man [is] right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.
इंसान का हर एक चाल चलन उसकी नज़र में रास्त है, लेकिन ख़ुदावन्द दिलों को जाँचता है।
3 To do justice and judgment [is] more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.
सदाक़त और 'अद्ल, ख़ुदावन्द के नज़दीक कु़र्बानी से ज़्यादा पसन्दीदा हैं।
4 A high look, and a proud heart, [and] the plowing of the wicked, [is] sin.
बलन्द नज़री और दिल का तकब्बुर, है। और शरीरों की इक़बालमंदी गुनाह है।
5 The thoughts of the diligent [tend] only to plenteousness; but of every one [that is] hasty only to want.
मेहनती की तदबीरें यक़ीनन फ़िरावानी की वजह हैं, लेकिन हर एक जल्दबाज़ का अंजाम मोहताजी है।
6 The getting of treasures by a lying tongue [is] a vanity tossed to and fro by them that seek death.
दरोग़गोई से ख़ज़ाने हासिल करना, बेठिकाना बुख़ारात और उनके तालिब मौत के तालिब हैं।
7 The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
शरीरों का जु़ल्म उनको उड़ा ले जाएगा, क्यूँकि उन्होंने इन्साफ़ करने से इंकार किया है।
8 The way of man [is] froward and strange: but [as for] the pure, his work [is] right.
गुनाह आलूदा आदमी की राह बहुत टेढ़ी है, लेकिन जो पाक है उसका काम ठीक है।
9 [It is] better to dwell in a corner of the house-top, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
घर की छत पर एक कोने में रहना, झगड़ालू बीवी के साथ बड़े घर में रहने से बेहतर है।
10 The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbor findeth no favor in his eyes.
शरीर की जान बुराई की मुश्ताक़ है, उसका पड़ोसी उसकी निगाह में मक़्बूल नहीं होता
11 When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.
जब ठठ्ठा करने वाले को सज़ा दी जाती है, तो सादा दिल हिकमत हासिल करता है, और जब 'अक़्लमंद तरबियत पाता है, तो 'इल्म हासिल करता है।
12 The righteous [man] wisely considereth the house of the wicked: [but God] overthroweth the wicked for [their] wickedness.
सादिक़ शरीर के घर पर ग़ौर करता है; शरीर कैसे गिर कर बर्बाद हो गए हैं।
13 Whoever stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.
जो ग़रीब की आह सुन कर अपने कान बंद कर लेता है, वह आप भी आह करेगा और कोई न सुनेगा।
14 A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom, strong wrath.
पोशीदगी में हदिया देना क़हर को ठंडा करता है, और इना'म बग़ल में दे देना ग़ज़ब — ए — शदीद को।
15 [It is] joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
इन्साफ़ करने में सादिक़ की शादमानी है, लेकिन बदकिरदारों की हलाकत।
16 The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.
जो समझ की राह से भटकता है, मुर्दों के ग़ोल में पड़ा रहेगा।
17 He that loveth pleasure [shall be] a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
'अय्याश कंगाल रहेगा; जो मय और तेल का मुश्ताक है मालदार न होगा।
18 The wicked [shall be] a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
शरीर सादिक़ का फ़िदिया होगा, और दग़ाबाज़ रास्तबाज़ों के बदले में दिया जाएगा।
19 [It is] better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.
वीराने में रहना, झगड़ालू और चिड़चिड़ी बीवी के साथ रहने से बेहतर है।
20 [There is] a treasure to be desired, and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.
क़ीमती ख़ज़ाना और तेल 'अक़्लमन्दों के घर में हैं, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ उनको उड़ा देता है।
21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honor.
जो सदाक़त और शफ़क़त की पैरवी करता है, ज़िन्दगी और सदाक़त — ओ — 'इज़्ज़त पाता है।
22 A wise [man] scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of its confidence.
'अक़्लमन्द आदमी ज़बरदस्तों के शहर पर चढ़ जाता है, और जिस कु़व्वत पर उनका भरोसा है, उसे गिरा देता है।
23 Whoever keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.
जो अपने मुँह और अपनी ज़बान की निगहबानी करता है, अपनी जान को मुसीबतों से महफ़ूज़ रखता है।
24 Proud [and] haughty scorner [is] his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.
मुतकब्बिर — ओ — मग़रूर शख़्स जो बहुत तकब्बुर से काम करता है।
25 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labor.
काहिल की तमन्ना उसे मार डालती है, क्यूँकि उसके हाथ मेहनत से इंकार करते हैं।
26 He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.
वह दिन भर तमन्ना में रहता है, लेकिन सादिक़ देता है और दरेग़ नहीं करता।
27 The sacrifice of the wicked [is] abomination: how much more, [when] he bringeth it with a wicked mind?
शरीर की कु़र्बानी क़ाबिले नफ़रत है, ख़ासकर जब वह बुरी नियत से लाता है।
28 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.
झूटा गवाह हलाक होगा, लेकिन जिस शख़्स ने बात सुनी है, वह ख़ामोश न रहेगा।
29 A wicked man hardeneth his face: but [as for] the upright, he directeth his way.
शरीर अपने चहरे को सख़्त करता है, लेकिन सादिक़ अपनी राह पर ग़ौर करता है।
30 [There is] no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.
कोई हिकमत, कोई समझ और कोई मश्वरत नहीं, जो ख़ुदावन्द के सामने ठहर सके।
31 The horse [is] prepared against the day of battle: but safety [is] from the LORD.
जंग के दिन के लिए घोड़ा तो तैयार किया जाता है, लेकिन फ़तहयाबी ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से है।
