< Proverbs 16 >
1 The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, [are] from the LORD.
Mipango ya moyo ni ya mtu, bali Yehova hutoa jawabu kutoka kwenye ulimi wake.
2 All the ways of a man [are] clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
Njia zote za mtu ni safi kwenye macho yake mwenyewe, bali Yehova huipima mioyo.
3 Commit thy works to the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
Kabidhi kwa Yehova kazi zako zote na mipango yako itafanikiwa.
4 The LORD hath made all [things] for himself: yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.
Yehova alifanya kila kitu kwa kusudi lake, hata waovu kwa ajili ya siku ya taabu.
5 Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished.
Yehova anamchukia kila mtu mwenye moyo wa majivuno, ingawa wanasimama imara, hawakosi kupata adhabu.
6 By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD [men] depart from evil.
Kwa agano la uaminifu na udhamini uovu husafishwa na kwa kumcha Yehova watu hujitenga na ubaya.
7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.
Njia za mtu zinapompendeza Yehova, huwafanya hata adui zake huyo mtu wawe na amani naye.
8 Better [is] a little with righteousness, than great revenues without right.
Bora kitu kidogo pamoja na haki, kuliko mapato makubwa pamoja na udhalimu.
9 A man's heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.
Katika moyo wake mtu hunuia njia yake, bali Yehova huziongoza hatua zake.
10 A divine sentence [is] in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment.
Mshauri yupo katika midimo ya mfalme, katika hukumu kinywa chake hakisemi kwa udanganyifu.
11 A just weight and balance [are] the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag [are] his work.
Vipimo vya kweli hutoka kwa Yehova; uzito wote kwenye gunia ni kazi yake.
12 [It is] an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness.
Wafalme wanapofanya mambo maovu, hicho ni kitu cha kudharauliwa, kwa maana utawala huimarishwa kwa kutenda haki.
13 Righteous lips [are] the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right.
Mfalme hufurahia midomo ambayo husema haki na anampenda mwenye kusema waziwazi.
14 The wrath of a king [is as] messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.
Hasira ya mfalme ni mjumbe wa mauti lakini mtu mwenye busara atajaribu kutuliza hasira yake.
15 In the light of a king's countenance [is] life; and his favor [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.
Katika nuru ya uso wa mfalme ni uzima na fadhila yake ni kama wingu linaloleta mvua ya masika.
16 How much better [is it] to get wisdom than gold? and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver?
Ni bora kiasi gani kupata hekima kuliko dhahabu. Kuchagua kupata ufahamu ni zaidi kuliko fedha.
17 The highway of the upright [is] to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul.
Njia kuu ya watu waadilifu hujitenga na ubaya; mwenye kuyahifadhi maisha yake huilinda njia yake.
18 Pride [goeth] before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
Kiburi hutangulia kabla ya uharibifu na moyo wa kujivuna kabla ya maangamizi.
19 Better [it is to be] of a humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.
Ni bora kunyenyekea miongoni mwa watu masikini kuliko kugawana ngawira pamoja watu wenye kiburi.
20 He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoever trusteth in the LORD, happy [is] he.
Mwenye kutafakari yaliyofundishwa hupata kilicho chema na wenye kumtumaini Yehova watafurahi.
21 The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.
Mwenye hekima moyoni anaitwa ufuhamu na utamu wa hotuba huongeza uwezo wa kufundisha.
22 Understanding [is] a well-spring of life to him that hath it: but the instruction of fools [is] folly.
Ufahamu ni chemchemi ya uzima kwake ambaye nayo, bali adhabu ya wapumbavu ni upumbavu wao.
23 The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
Moyo wa mtu mwenye hekima hutoa busara katika kinywa chake na huongeza ushawishi katika midomo yake.
24 Pleasant words [are as] a honey-comb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.
Maneno yenye kufaa ni sega la asali -matamu kwenye nafsi na huponya mifupa.
25 There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it [is] the ways of death.
Kuna njia ambayo huonekana sawa kwa mtu, bali mwisho wake ni njia ya mauti.
26 He that laboreth laboreth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
Hamu ya kibarua humfanyia kazi; njaa yake humsihi kuendelea.
27 An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips [there is] as a burning fire.
Mtu duni huchimba madhara na usemi wake ni kama moto unaounguza.
28 A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.
Mtu mkaidi huchochea mafarakano na umbeya huwafarakanisha marafiki.
29 A violent man enticeth his neighbor, and leadeth him into the way [that is] not good.
Mtu wa vurugu humdanganya jirani yake na kumwongoza kwenye mapito ambayo si mema.
30 He shutteth his eyes to devise froward things: moving his lips he bringeth evil to pass.
Yule anayekonyeza kwa jicho anapanga njama za mambo ya ukaidi; wenye kuandama midomo yao watapitisha mabaya.
31 The hoary head [is] a crown of glory, [if] it is found in the way of righteousness.
Mvi ni taji ya utukufu; hupatikana kwa kuishi katika njia ya haki.
32 [He that is] slow to anger [is] better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit, than he that taketh a city.
Ni bora kukawia kuwa na hasira kuliko kuwa shujaa na mwenye kutawala roho yake ni imara zaidi kuliko yule anayeuteka mji.
33 The lot is cast into the lap: but the whole disposing of it [is] from the LORD.
Kura hurushwa kwenye mkunjo, bali maamuzi hutoka kwa Yehova.
