Proverbs 12
1 Whoever loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof [is] brutish.
जो तरबियत को दोस्त रखता है, वह 'इल्म को दोस्त रखता है; लेकिन जो तम्बीह से नफ़रत रखता है, वह हैवान है।
2 A good [man] obtaineth favor from the LORD: but a man of wicked devices he will condemn.
नेक आदमी ख़ुदावन्द का मक़बूल होगा, लेकिन बुरे मन्सूबे बाँधने वाले को वह मुजरिम ठहराएगा।
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
आदमी शरारत से पायेदार नहीं होगा लेकिन सादिक़ों की जड़ को कभी जुम्बिश न होगी।
4 A virtuous woman [is] a crown to her husband: but she that maketh ashamed [is] as rottenness in his bones.
नेक 'औरत अपने शौहर के लिए ताज है लेकिन नदामत लाने वाली उसकी हड्डियों में बोसीदगी की तरह है।
5 The thoughts of the righteous [are] right: [but] the counsels of the wicked [are] deceit.
सादिक़ों के ख़यालात दुरुस्त हैं, लेकिन शरीरों की मश्वरत धोखा है।
6 The words of the wicked [are] to lie in wait for blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.
शरीरों की बातें यही हैं कि खू़न करने के लिए ताक में बैठे, लेकिन सादिक़ों की बातें उनको रिहाई देंगी।
7 The wicked are overthrown, and [are] not: but the house of the righteous shall stand.
शरीर पछाड़ खाते और हलाक होते हैं, लेकिन सादिक़ों का घर क़ाईम रहेगा।
8 A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
आदमी की ता'रीफ़ उसकी 'अक़्लमंदी के मुताबिक़ की जाती है, लेकिन बे'अक़्ल ज़लील होगा।
9 [He that is] despised, and hath a servant, [is] better than he that honoreth himself, and is destitute of bread.
जो छोटा समझा जाता है लेकिन उसके पास एक नौकर है, उससे बेहतर है जो अपने आप को बड़ा जानता और रोटी का मोहताज है।
10 A righteous [man] regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender mercies of the wicked [are] cruel.
सादिक़ अपने चौपाए की जान का ख़याल रखता है, लेकिन शरीरों की रहमत भी 'ऐन जु़ल्म है।
11 He that tilleth his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that followeth vain [persons is] void of understanding.
जो अपनी ज़मीन में काश्तकारी करता है, रोटी से सेर होगा; लेकिन बेकारी का हिमायती बे'अक़्ल है।
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil [men]: but the root of the righteous yieldeth [fruit].
शरीर बदकिरदारों के दाम का मुश्ताक़ है, लेकिन सादिक़ों की जड़ फलती है।
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression of [his] lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
लबों की ख़ताकारी में शरीर के लिए फंदा है, लेकिन सादिक़ मुसीबत से बच निकलेगा।
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of [his] mouth: and the recompense of a man's hands shall be rendered to him.
आदमी के कलाम का फल उसको नेकी से आसूदा करेगा, और उसके हाथों के किए का बदला उसको मिलेगा।
15 The way of a fool [is] right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth to counsel [is] wise.
बेवक़ूफ़ का चाल चलन उसकी नज़र में दुरस्त है, लेकिन 'अक़्लमंद नसीहत को सुनता है।
16 A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent [man] covereth shame.
बेवक़ूफ़ का ग़ज़ब फ़ौरन ज़ाहिर हो जाता है, लेकिन होशियार शर्मिन्दगी को छिपाता है।
17 [He that] speaketh truth showeth forth righteousness: but a false witness, deceit.
रास्तगो सदाक़त ज़ाहिर करता है, लेकिन झूटा गवाह दग़ाबाज़ी।
18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.
बिना समझे बोलने वाले की बातें तलवार की तरह छेदती हैं, लेकिन 'अक़्लमंद की ज़बान सेहत बख़्श है।
19 The lip of truth shall be established for ever: but a lying tongue [is] but for a moment.
सच्चे होंट हमेशा तक क़ाईम रहेंगे लेकिन झूटी ज़बान सिर्फ़ दम भर की है।
20 Deceit [is] in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the counselors of peace [is] joy.
बदी के मन्सूबे बाँधने वालों के दिल में दग़ा है, लेकिन सुलह की मश्वरत देने वालों के लिए ख़ुशी है।
21 There shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.
सादिक़ पर कोई आफ़त नहीं आएगी, लेकिन शरीर बला में मुब्तिला होंगे।
22 Lying lips [are] abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly [are] his delight.
झूटे लबों से ख़ुदावन्द को नफ़रत है, लेकिन रास्तकार उसकी ख़ुशनूदी, हैं।
23 A prudent man concealeth knowledge: but the heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness.
होशियार आदमी 'इल्म को छिपाता है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ का दिल बेवक़ूफ़ी का 'ऐलान करता है।
24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.
मेहनती आदमी का हाथ हुक्मराँ होगा, लेकिन सुस्त आदमी बाज गुज़ार बनेगा।
25 Heaviness in the heart of man depresseth it: but a good word maketh it glad.
आदमी का दिल फ़िक्रमंदी से दब जाता है, लेकिन अच्छी बात से ख़ुश होता है।
26 The righteous [is] more excellent than his neighbor: but the way of the wicked seduceth them.
सादिक़ अपने पड़ोसी की रहनुमाई करता है, लेकिन शरीरों का चाल चलन उनको गुमराह कर देता है।
27 The slothful [man] roasteth not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man [is] precious.
सुस्त आदमी शिकार पकड़ कर कबाब नहीं करता, लेकिन इंसान की गिरानबहा दौलत मेहनती पाता है।
28 In the way of righteousness [is] life; and [in] the path [of it there is] no death.
सदाक़त की राह में ज़िन्दगी है, और उसके रास्ते में हरगिज़ मौत नहीं।
