Proverbs 10
1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son [is] the heaviness of his mother.
Die Sprüche Salomos. Ein weiser Sohn macht dem Vater Freude, aber ein thörichter Sohn ist seiner Mutter Grämen.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Durch Unrecht erworbene Schätze schaffen keinen Nutzen, aber Gerechtigkeit errettet vom Tode.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
Jahwe läßt den Hunger des Frommen nicht ungestillt, aber die Gier der Gottlosen stößt er zurück.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Wer mit lässiger Hand arbeitet, verarmt, aber der Fleißigen Hand schafft Reichtum.
5 He that gathereth in summer [is] a wise son: [but] he that sleepeth in harvest [is] a son that causeth shame.
Wer im Sommer sammelt, ist klug, wer sich in der Erntezeit dem Schlaf ergiebt, handelt schändlich.
6 Blessings [are] upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Segnungen kommen über das Haupt des Frommen, aber der Gottlosen Mund birgt Unbill.
7 The memory of the just [is] blessed: but the name of the wicked shall perish.
Das Gedächtnis des Frommen bleibt im Segen, aber der Gottlosen Name wird verwesen.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Wer weises Herzens ist, nimmt die Gebote an, wer aber ein Narrenmaul hat, kommt zu Fall.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Wer in Unschuld einhergeht, wandelt sicher, wer aber verkehrte Wege einschlägt, wird erkannt werden.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
Wer mit dem Auge blinzelt, verursacht Kränkung; wer aber mit Freimut rügt, stiftet Frieden.
11 The mouth of a righteous [man is] a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Ein Born des Lebens ist des Frommen Mund, aber der Gottlosen Mund birgt Unbill.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Haß erregt Zänkereien, aber alle Vergehungen deckt die Liebe zu.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod [is] for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Auf den Lippen des Verständigen wird Weisheit gefunden, aber die Rute gebührt dem Rücken des Unsinnigen.
14 Wise [men] lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish [is] near destruction.
Die Weisen halten mit ihrer Erkenntnis zurück, aber des Narren Mund ist naher Einsturz.
15 The rich man's wealth [is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor [is] their poverty.
Des Reichen Habe ist ihm eine feste Stadt; die Dürftigen aber macht ihre Armut verzagt.
16 The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
Der Erwerb des Frommen gereicht zum Leben, des Gottlosen Einkommen gereicht zur Sünde.
17 He [is in] the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Den Pfad zum Leben geht, wer Zucht bewahrt; wer aber Rüge außer acht läßt, geht irre.
18 He that hideth hatred [with] lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, [is] a fool.
Wer Haß verbirgt, ist ein Lügenmaul, und wer üble Nachrede verbreitet, ist ein Thor.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that restraineth his lips [is] wise.
Wo der Worte viel sind, geht's ohne Vergehung nicht ab; wer aber seine Lippen zügelt, handelt klug.
20 The tongue of the just [is as] choice silver: the heart of the wicked [is] little worth.
Auserlesenes Silber ist des Frommen Zunge; der Gottlosen Verstand ist wenig wert.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Des Frommen Lippen weiden viele, aber die Narren sterben an Unverstand.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Der Segen Jahwes, der macht reich, und eigenes Mühen kann nichts zu ihm hinzuthun.
23 [It is] as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Als ein Vergnügen gilt dem Thoren das Verüben von Schandthat, dem einsichtigen Manne aber die Weisheit.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Wovor dem Gottlosen graut, das kommt über ihn; aber was die Frommen begehren, wird ihnen gegeben.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so [is] the wicked no [more]: but the righteous [is] an everlasting foundation.
Sobald die Windsbraut daherfährt, ist's mit dem Gottlosen vorbei, aber der Fromme steht auf dauerndem Grund.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so [is] the sluggard to them that send him.
Was der Essig für die Zähne und der Rauch für die Augen, das ist der Faule für den, der ihn sendet.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Die Furcht Jahwes mehrt die Lebenstage, aber der Gottlosen Jahre werden verkürzt.
28 The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Das Harren der Frommen endigt in Freude, aber der Gottlosen Hoffnung wird zunichte.
29 The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
Das Walten Jahwes ist eine Schutzwehr für die Unschuld, aber Bestürzung für die Übeltäter.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Der Fromme wird nimmermehr wanken, aber die Gottlosen werden nicht im Lande wohnen bleiben.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Der Mund des Frommen läßt Weisheit sprießen, aber die Zunge der Verkehrtheit wird ausgerottet.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] frowardness.
Die Lippen des Frommen wissen, was wohlgefällig ist, aber der Gottlosen Mund ist eitel Verkehrtheit.
