< Proverbs 10 >

1 The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father: but a foolish son [is] the heaviness of his mother.
Solomon palunghahaih lok loe hae tiah oh; palungha caa mah loe ampa to poeknawmsak, kamthu ih caa mah loe amno to palungsetsak.
2 Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death.
Amsoem ai ah hak ih hmuen loe atho om ai, toe toenghaih mah loe duekhaih thung hoiah pahlong.
3 The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish: but he casteth away the substance of the wicked.
Katoeng kami loe zok amthlam moe, duek hanah Angraeng mah asaeng ai; toe kahoih ai kami ih hmuenmae loe amrosak.
4 He becometh poor that dealeth [with] a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
Thasae ban mah anih to amtangsak, thahoih ban mah loe anih to angraengsak.
5 He that gathereth in summer [is] a wise son: [but] he that sleepeth in harvest [is] a son that causeth shame.
Nipui tueah caaknaek patung kami loe palungha capa ah oh, cang aah tue ah iip kami loe azathaih paek capa ah oh.
6 Blessings [are] upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Katoeng kami ih lu ah loe tahamhoihaih to oh; toe kahoih ai kami ih pakha loe athii palonghaih hoiah koi.
7 The memory of the just [is] blessed: but the name of the wicked shall perish.
Katoeng kaminawk loe pahnet thai ai pongah tahamhoih o; toe kasae kami ih ahmin loe qong tih.
8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall.
Palungha palungthin mah loe lokpaekhaih to pazui; toe lok angaek thaih kamthu loe amro tih.
9 He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
Toenghaih loklam ah caeh kami loe ngancuem tih; toe lam amkhraeng kami loe a poekhaih to amtueng tih.
10 He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.
Uthaih mik pakhriphaih mah kami to raihaih paek, lok angaek thaih kamthu loe amro tih.
11 The mouth of a righteous [man is] a well of life: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Katoeng kami ih pakha loe hinghaih tuipuek ah oh, toe kasae kami ih pakha loe kahoih ai hmuen hoiah koi.
12 Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins.
Hnukmahaih mah misa angcoengsak, toe amlunghaih mah loe zaehaih boih to khuk.
13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod [is] for the back of him that is void of understanding.
Panoekhaih tawn kami ih pahni ah palunghahaih to amtueng, toe panoekhaih tawn ai kami ih kaengah loe quiboeng to oh.
14 Wise [men] lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish [is] near destruction.
Palungha kami loe palunghaih to patungh, toe amthu kami ih pakha loe amro han zoi daek.
15 The rich man's wealth [is] his strong city: the destruction of the poor [is] their poverty.
Angraeng ih tacong loe kacak angmah ih vangpui ah oh; toe amtang kami amtanghaih loe angmah amrohaih ah oh.
16 The labor of the righteous [tendeth] to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
Katoeng kami toksakhaih atho loe hinghaih ah oh, toe kahoih ai kami ih thingthai mah loe zaehaih to tacawtsak.
17 He [is in] the way of life that keepeth instruction: but he that refuseth reproof erreth.
Thuitaekhaih lok tahngai kami loe hinghaih loklam ah caeh; toe thuitaekhaih lok aek kami loe loklam amkhraeng.
18 He that hideth hatred [with] lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, [is] a fool.
Lok amlaihaih mah hnukmahaih to amtueng ai ah ohsak, minawk kasae thui kami loe kamthu ah ni oh.
19 In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that restraineth his lips [is] wise.
Kapop ah lokthuih naah thuih pazaehaih to oh; toe palungha kami loe pahni to ciip.
20 The tongue of the just [is as] choice silver: the heart of the wicked [is] little worth.
Palungha kami ih palai loe qoih ih sumkanglung baktiah oh; toe kahoih ai kami ih palungthin loe atho om ai.
21 The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom.
Katoeng kami ih pahni mah kami paroeai pacah; toe kamthu loe panoekhaih tawn ai pongah duek.
22 The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
Angraeng tahamhoihaih mah angraenghaih to ohsak, to angraenghaih ah loe palungsethaih om ai.
23 [It is] as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.
Kamthu loe kahoih ai hmuen nuiah anghoe, toe palungha kami loe panoekhaih tawnh.
24 The fear of the wicked, it shall come upon him: but the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
Kahoih ai kami nuiah zithaih to pha tih; toe katoeng kami koehhaih loe akoepsak tih.
25 As the whirlwind passeth, so [is] the wicked no [more]: but the righteous [is] an everlasting foundation.
Kahoih ai kaminawk loe, kamhae takhi baktiah laemh o; toe katoeng kaminawk loe dungzan kacak ahmuen ah oh.
26 As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so [is] the sluggard to them that send him.
Kathaw tui mah haa kinsak moe, hmaikhue mah mik amcapsak baktih toengah, thasae kami doeh anih patoeh kami hanah to tiah oh.
27 The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
Angraeng zithaih mah hinglung sawksak; toe kasae kaminawk loe saning duem tih.
28 The hope of the righteous [shall be] gladness: but the expectation of the wicked shall perish.
Anghoehaih loe katoeng kaminawk oephaih ah oh; toe kasae kaminawk oephaih loe anghmaa tih.
29 The way of the LORD [is] strength to the upright: but destruction [shall be] to the workers of iniquity.
Angraeng ih loklam loe katoeng kaminawk hanah thacakhaih ah oh; toe kahoih ai hmuen sah kaminawk han loe amrohaih ah oh.
30 The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth.
Katoeng kami loe natuek naah doeh angthui mak ai; toe kasae kami loe long nuiah kacakah khosah thai mak ai.
31 The mouth of the just bringeth forth wisdom: but the froward tongue shall be cut out.
Katoeng kami ih pakha thung hoiah palunghahaih to tacawt; toe kangkoih ah lokthui kami ih palai loe aat pae pat tih.
32 The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable: but the mouth of the wicked [speaketh] frowardness.
Katoeng kami ih palai loe tapom thaikoi ah kaom hmuen to panoek; toe kasae kami ih pakha loe kangkoih ah lok apaeh.
