Philippians 1
1 Paul and Timothy, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus who are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
Esta carta é escrita por Paulo e Timóteo, servos de Cristo Jesus, para todo o povo de Deus unido a Cristo Jesus que vive em Filipos e para os líderes da igreja e seus auxiliares.
2 Grace [be] to you, and peace, from God our Father and [from] the Lord Jesus Christ.
Que a graça e a paz de Deus, nosso Pai, e do Senhor Jesus Cristo estejam com vocês!
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
Quando penso em vocês, eu agradeço ao meu Deus
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
e sempre fico contente ao lembrar de todos vocês em minhas orações,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
pois, desde o início, vocês foram meus parceiros no anúncio do evangelho.
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ:
Eu estou absolutamente certo de que Deus, que começou este bom trabalho em suas vidas, continuará trabalhando e irá terminá-lo, de forma bem sucedida, quando Jesus Cristo retornar.
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
É justo que eu pense dessa forma a respeito de todos vocês, pois vocês significam muito para mim. É isto que estão fazendo agora que estou preso e foi o mesmo que fizeram quando eu estava fora da cadeia, defendendo e anunciando o evangelho, pois vocês são participantes da graça de Deus junto comigo.
8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
Deus é minha testemunha da saudade que tenho de todos vocês, no amor afetuoso de Cristo Jesus.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and [in] all judgment;
Minha oração é para que o amor de vocês possa crescer ainda mais em conhecimento e entendimento,
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ;
fazendo com que desenvolvam o que é realmente importante. Para que, assim, no dia em que Cristo voltar, vocês possam ser verdadeiros e estarem livres de culpa.
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
E vocês terão uma vida cheia dos frutos da justiça que vêm por meio de Jesus Cristo, para a glória e o louvor a Deus.
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things [which happened] to me have fallen out rather to the furtherance of the gospel;
Meus irmãos e minhas irmãs, quero que saibam que todas as experiências que eu tive me ajudaram a seguir em frente na tarefa de anunciar o evangelho.
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other [places];
Pois todos, inclusive toda a guarda pretoriana, agora sabem que estou preso por ser um servo de Cristo.
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, becoming confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
E por causa da minha prisão, muitos dos cristãos daqui sentiram-se encorajados para anunciar a palavra de Deus sem medo!
15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife; and some also from good will.
Sim, alguns anunciam a palavra de Deus por inveja e rivalidade. No entanto, há aqueles que anunciam por bons motivos.
16 The one preach Christ from contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
Eles fazem isso por amor, pois sabem que eu estava destinado a estar aqui para defender o evangelho.
17 But the other from love, knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel.
Aqueles outros não apresentam Cristo de uma forma sincera, porque suas ambições são egoístas e eles tentam me causar ainda mais problemas enquanto estou preso.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.
Mas, e então? Tudo o que me importa é que Cristo está sendo apresentado de todas as formas, seja por maus ou bons motivos. E isso me deixa muito feliz e, assim, continuarei!
19 For I know that this will turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
Por quê? Porque estou convencido de que, por suas orações por mim e pela ajuda do Espírito de Jesus Cristo, isso se tornará a minha salvação.
20 According to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but [that] with all boldness, as always, [so] now also, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death.
Pois tenho grande esperança e muita expectativa de não fazer algo de que possa me envergonhar. Pelo contrário, a minha esperança, como sempre, é que, mesmo agora, Cristo seja muito engrandecido em meu corpo, esteja eu vivo ou morto.
21 For to me to live [is] Christ, and to die [is] gain.
Pois, para mim, o viver é Cristo e o morrer é ganho.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this [is] the fruit of my labor: yet what I shall choose I know not.
Mas, se for para eu viver aqui e, se, assim, meu trabalho for produtivo, então, eu realmente não sei qual seria a melhor escolha!
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
Pois eu estou em um dilema. O que realmente quero é partir e estar com Cristo, o que seria muito melhor;
24 Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh [is] more needful for you.
no entanto, permanecer fisicamente aqui é mais importante no que diz respeito a vocês.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
Como eu estou absolutamente certo disso, eu sei que ficarei aqui, permanecendo com vocês, para ajudá-los enquanto a sua fé e a sua alegria em Deus crescem.
26 That your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again.
Assim, quando eu for visitá-los novamente, vocês louvem com mais entusiasmo ainda a Cristo Jesus por minha causa.
27 Only let your manner of life be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Apenas estejam certos de estarem vivendo como o evangelho de Cristo nos mostra, para que, se eu puder visitá-los ou estiver ausente, eu possa ouvir como vocês permanecem firmes, em total harmonia uns com os outros, espiritualmente unidos, enquanto trabalham juntos pela fé verdadeira no evangelho.
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Não deixem que os seus inimigos lhes causem medo. Ao serem corajosos, vocês demonstrarão que eles estarão perdidos, mas que o próprio Deus salvará vocês.
29 For to you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
Porque vocês receberam não apenas o privilégio de crer em Jesus, mas também o de sofrer por ele.
30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, [and] now hear [to be] in me.
Vocês estão passando pela mesma luta na qual também já me viram; uma luta em que ainda batalho, como agora vocês sabem.
