Nehemiah 7
1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,
| ויהי כאשר נבנתה החומה ואעמיד הדלתות ויפקדו השוערים והמשררים והלוים |
2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he [was] a faithful man, and feared God above many.
| ואצוה את חנני אחי ואת חנניה שר הבירה--על ירושלם כי הוא כאיש אמת וירא את האלהים מרבים |
3 And I said to them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun shall be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar [them]: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, every one in his watch, and every one [to be] over against his house.
| ויאמר (ואמר) להם לא יפתחו שערי ירושלם עד חם השמש ועד הם עמדים יגיפו הדלתות ואחזו והעמיד משמרות ישבי ירושלם--איש במשמרו ואיש נגד ביתו |
4 Now the city [was] large and great: but the people in it [were] few, and the houses [were] not built.
| והעיר רחבת ידים וגדלה והעם מעט בתוכה ואין בתים בנוים |
5 And my God put into my heart to assemble the nobles, and the rulers, and the people, that they might be reckoned by genealogy. And I found a register of the genealogy of them who came up at the first, and found written in it,
| ויתן אלהי אל לבי ואקבצה את החרים ואת הסגנים ואת העם להתיחש ואמצא ספר היחש העולים בראשונה ואמצא כתוב בו |
6 These [are] the children of the province, that went up out of the captivity, of those that had been carried away, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away, and came again to Jerusalem and to Judah, every one to his city;
| אלה בני המדינה העלים משבי הגולה אשר הגלה נבוכדנצר מלך בבל וישובו לירושלם וליהודה איש לעירו |
7 Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah, Azariah, Raamiah, Nahamani, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispereth, Bigvai, Nehum, Baanah. The number, [I say], of the men of the people of Israel [was this];
| הבאים עם זרבבל ישוע נחמיה עזריה רעמיה נחמני מרדכי בלשן מספרת בגוי--נחום בענה מספר אנשי עם ישראל |
8 The children of Parosh, two thousand a hundred and seventy two.
| בני פרעש--אלפים מאה ושבעים ושנים |
9 The children of Shephatiah, three hundred and seventy two.
| בני שפטיה שלש מאות שבעים ושנים |
10 The children of Arah, six hundred and fifty two.
| בני ארח שש מאות חמשים ושנים |
11 The children of Pahath-moab, of the children of Jeshua and Joab, two thousand and eight hundred [and] eighteen.
| בני פחת מואב לבני ישוע ויואב--אלפים ושמנה מאות שמנה עשר |
12 The children of Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty four.
| בני עילם--אלף מאתים חמשים וארבעה |
13 The children of Zattu, eight hundred and forty five.
| בני זתוא שמנה מאות ארבעים וחמשה |
14 The children of Zaccai, seven hundred and sixty.
| בני זכי שבע מאות וששים |
15 The children of Binnui, six hundred and forty eight.
| בני בנוי שש מאות ארבעים ושמנה |
16 The children of Bebai, six hundred and twenty eight.
| בני בבי שש מאות עשרים ושמנה |
17 The children of Azgad, two thousand three hundred and twenty two.
| בני עזגד--אלפים שלש מאות עשרים ושנים |
18 The children of Adonikam, six hundred and sixty seven.
| בני אדניקם--שש מאות ששים ושבעה |
19 The children of Bigvai, two thousand and sixty seven.
| בני בגוי אלפים ששים ושבעה |
20 The children of Adin, six hundred and fifty five.
| בני עדין שש מאות חמשים וחמשה |
21 The children of Ater of Hezekiah, ninety eight.
| בני אטר לחזקיה תשעים ושמנה |
22 The children of Hashum, three hundred and twenty eight.
| בני חשם שלש מאות עשרים ושמנה |
23 The children of Bezai, three hundred and twenty four.
| בני בצי שלש מאות עשרים וארבעה |
24 The children of Hariph, a hundred and twelve.
| בני חריף מאה שנים עשר |
25 The children of Gibeon, ninety five.
| בני גבעון תשעים וחמשה |
26 The men of Beth-lehem and Netophah, a hundred and eighty eight.
| אנשי בית לחם ונטפה מאה שמנים ושמנה |
27 The men of Anathoth, a hundred and twenty eight.
| אנשי ענתות מאה עשרים ושמנה |
28 The men of Beth-azmaveth, forty two.
| אנשי בית עזמות ארבעים ושנים |
29 The men of Kirjath-jearim, Chephirah, and Beeroth, seven hundred and forty three.
| אנשי קרית יערים כפירה ובארות שבע מאות ארבעים ושלשה |
30 The men of Ramah and Gaba, six hundred and twenty one.
| אנשי הרמה וגבע שש מאות עשרים ואחד |
31 The men of Michmas, a hundred and twenty two.
| אנשי מכמס מאה ועשרים ושנים |
32 The men of Beth-el and Ai, a hundred and twenty three.
| אנשי בית אל והעי מאה עשרים ושלשה |
33 The men of the other Nebo, fifty two.
| אנשי נבו אחר חמשים ושנים |
34 The children of the other Elam, a thousand two hundred and fifty four.
| בני עילם אחר--אלף מאתים חמשים וארבעה |
35 The children of Harim, three hundred and twenty.
| בני חרם שלש מאות ועשרים |
36 The children of Jericho, three hundred and forty five.
| בני ירחו שלש מאות ארבעים וחמשה |
37 The children of Lod, Hadid, and Ono, seven hundred and twenty one.
| בני לד חדיד ואנו שבע מאות ועשרים ואחד |
38 The children of Senaah, three thousand nine hundred and thirty.
| בני סנאה--שלשת אלפים תשע מאות ושלשים |
39 The priests: the children of Jedaiah, of the house of Jeshua, nine hundred and seventy three.
| הכהנים בני ידעיה לבית ישוע תשע מאות שבעים ושלשה |
40 The children of Immer, a thousand and fifty two.
| בני אמר אלף חמשים ושנים |
41 The children of Pashur, a thousand two hundred and forty seven.
| בני פשחור--אלף מאתים ארבעים ושבעה |
42 The children of Harim, a thousand and seventeen.
| בני חרם אלף שבעה עשר |
43 The Levites: the children of Jeshua, of Kadmiel, [and] of the children of Hodevah, seventy four.
| הלוים בני ישוע לקדמיאל לבני להודוה שבעים וארבעה |
44 The singers: the children of Asaph, a hundred and forty eight.
| המשררים--בני אסף מאה ארבעים ושמנה |
45 The porters: the children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of Akkub, the children of Hatita, the children of Shobai, a hundred and thirty eight.
| השערים בני שלם בני אטר בני טלמן בני עקוב בני חטיטא בני שבי--מאה שלשים ושמנה |
46 The Nethinims: the children of Ziha, the children of Hashupha, the children of Tabbaoth,
| הנתינים בני צחא בני חשפא בני טבעות |
47 The children of Keros, the children of Sia, the children of Padon,
| בני קירס בני סיעא בני פדון |
48 The children of Lebana, the children of Hagaba, the children of Shalmai,
| בני לבנה בני חגבא בני שלמי |
49 The children of Hanan, the children of Giddel, the children of Gahar,
| בני חנן בני גדל בני גחר |
50 The children of Reaiah, the children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda,
| בני ראיה בני רצין בני נקודא |
51 The children of Gazzam, the children of Uzza, the children of Phaseah,
| בני גזם בני עזא בני פסח |
52 The children of Besai, the children of Meunim, the children of Nephishesim,
| בני בסי בני מעונים בני נפושסים (נפישסים) |
53 The children of Bakbuk, the children of Hakupha, the children of Harhur,
| בני בקבוק בני חקופא בני חרחור |
54 The children of Bazlith, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
| בני בצלית בני מחידא בני חרשא |
55 The children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Tamah,
| בני ברקוס בני סיסרא בני תמח |
56 The children of Neziah, the children of Hatipha.
| בני נציח בני חטיפא |
57 The children of Solomon's servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida,
| בני עבדי שלמה בני סוטי בני ספרת בני פרידא |
58 The children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
| בני יעלא בני דרקון בני גדל |
59 The children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth of Zebaim, the children of Amon.
| בני שפטיה בני חטיל בני פכרת הצביים-- בני אמון |
60 All the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants, [were] three hundred and ninety two.
| כל הנתינים--ובני עבדי שלמה שלש מאות תשעים ושנים |
61 And these [were] they who went up [also] from Tel-mela, Tel-haresha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer: but they could not show their fathers house, nor their seed, whether they [were] of Israel.
| ואלה העולים מתל מלח תל חרשא כרוב אדון ואמר ולא יכלו להגיד בית אבתם וזרעם--אם מישראל הם |
62 The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred and forty two.
| בני דליה בני טוביה בני נקודא--שש מאות וארבעים ושנים |
63 And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, who took [one] of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite for a wife, and was called after their name.
| ומן הכהנים בני חביה בני הקוץ בני ברזלי אשר לקח מבנות ברזלי הגלעדי אשה ויקרא על שמם |
64 These sought their register [among] those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
| אלה בקשו כתבם המתיחשים--ולא נמצא ויגאלו מן הכהנה |
65 And the Tirshatha said to them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand [up] a priest with Urim and Thummim.
| ויאמר התרשתא להם אשר לא יאכלו מקדש הקדשים--עד עמד הכהן לאורים ותמים |
66 The whole congregation together [was] forty two thousand three hundred and sixty.
| כל הקהל כאחד--ארבע רבוא אלפים שלש מאות וששים |
67 Besides their man-servants and their maid-servants, of whom [there were] seven thousand three hundred and thirty seven: and they had two hundred and forty five singing-men and singing-women.
| מלבד עבדיהם ואמהתיהם אלה--שבעת אלפים שלש מאות שלשים ושבעה ולהם משררים ומשררות--מאתים וארבעים וחמשה |
68 Their horses, seven hundred and thirty six: their mules, two hundred and forty five:
| גמלים ארבע מאות שלשים וחמשה חמרים--ששת אלפים שבע מאות ועשרים |
69 [Their] camels, four hundred and thirty five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
| ומקצת ראשי האבות נתנו למלאכה--התרשתא נתן לאוצר זהב דרכמנים אלף מזרקות חמשים כתנות כהנים שלשים וחמש מאות |
70 And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basins, five hundred and thirty priests' garments.
| ומראשי האבות נתנו לאוצר המלאכה--זהב דרכמונים שתי רבות וכסף מנים אלפים ומאתים |
71 And [some] of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work, twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pounds of silver.
| ואשר נתנו שארית העם--זהב דרכמנים שתי רבוא וכסף מנים אלפים וכתנת כהנים ששים ושבעה |
72 And [that] which the rest of the people gave [was] twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pounds of silver, and sixty seven priests' garments.
| וישבו הכהנים והלוים והשוערים והמשררים ומן העם והנתינים וכל ישראל--בעריהם ויגע החדש השביעי ובני ישראל בעריהם |
73 So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and [some] of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel [were] in their cities.
