Nehemiah 6
1 Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had built the wall, and [that] there was no breach left in it, (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates; )
जब हमारे शत्रुओं सनबल्लत, तोबियाह, अरबी गेशेम और बाकी शत्रुओं को इसका समाचार मिला कि मैंने शहरपनाह को दोबारा बना लिया है, कि शहरपनाह में अब कहीं भी कोई दरार नहीं रह गई है, यद्यपि इस समय तक फाटकों में पल्ले बैठाए नहीं गए थे,
2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent to me, saying, Come, let us meet together in [some one of] the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
तब सनबल्लत और गेशेम ने मुझे यह संदेश भेजा “आप आइए कि हम ओनो के मैदान में चेपिरिम नामक स्थान पर भेंट करें.” मगर इसके द्वारा उनका इरादा मेरा बुरा करने का ही था.
3 And I sent messengers to them, saying, I [am] doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
तब मैंने अपने दूत उन्हें इस संदेश के साथ भेजे: “मेरा यह काम बहुत बड़ा है, इसलिये मेरा यहां आना संभव नहीं है. यह कैसे सही हो सकता है कि मैं इसे छोड़कर आपसे भेंट करने वहां आऊं?”
4 Yet they sent to me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
उन्होंने चार बार यही संदेश भेजा और मैंने भी उन्हें वही उत्तर दिया.
5 Then Sanballat sent his servant to me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
तब सनबल्लत ने अपने सेवक द्वारा एक संदेश मेरे लिए भेजा यह वही संदेश पांचवी बार भेजा गया था. उसके हाथ में दिया यह खुला पत्र था.
6 In which [was] written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith [it], [that] thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
पत्र में लिखा था: “देश-देश के लोगों में यह कहा जाने लगा है और उसकी ख़बर हमें गशमू से प्राप्त हुई है, कि आप और यहूदी विद्रोह की योजना बना रहे हैं. शहरपनाह बनाना इसी योजना का भाग है. इन सूचनाओं के अनुसार आप उनको राजा बनने की योजना बना रहे हैं.
7 And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, [There is] a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
इसके लिए तो आपने येरूशलेम में भविष्यद्वक्ता भी ठहरा दिए हैं, जिनकी जवाबदारी होगी यह घोषणा करना: ‘यहूदियों में अब एक राजा है!’ अब यही ख़बर राजा को भी दी ही जाएगी. इसलिये अब आप आ जाइए हम आपस में सलाह करें.”
8 Then I sent to him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thy own heart.
इसके उत्तर में मैंने उसे अपना दूत इस संदेश के साथ भेजा “आपके कहने के अनुसार यहां कुछ भी नहीं किया जा रहा हैं यह सब तो खुद आपके ही दिमाग की उपज है.”
9 For they all made us afraid, saying, Their hands shall be weakened from the work, that it may not be done. Now therefore, [O God], strengthen my hands.
उन सभी का लक्ष्य हमें डराना ही था. उनका सोचना था, “इससे वे डर जाएंगे और यह काम पूरा न हो सकेगा.” मगर परमेश्वर, मेरी बाज़ुओं में ताकत दीजिए.
10 Afterward I came to the house of Shemaiah the son of Delaiah the son of Mehetabeel, who [was] shut up; and he said, Let us meet together in the house of God, within the temple, and let us shut the doors of the temple: for they will come to slay thee; yea, in the night will they come to slay thee.
मैं मेहेताबेल के पोते देलाइयाह के पुत्र शेमायाह के घर पर गया, जो घर से बाहर जाने में असमर्थ था, उसने प्रस्ताव रखा, “हम परमेश्वर के भवन में मंदिर के अंदर ही इकट्ठा हों और मंदिर के दरवाजे बंद कर लें, क्योंकि वे आपकी हत्या के उद्देश्य से यहां आ रहे हैं और वे रात में ही आपकी हत्या करना चाह रहे हैं.”
11 And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who [is there], that, [being] as I [am], would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in.
किंतु मैंने इनकार किया, “क्या मेरे जैसे व्यक्ति के लिए इस प्रकार भागना अच्छा होगा? और क्या मुझ जैसे व्यक्ति के लिए मंदिर में जाकर अपना जीवन बचाना सही होगा? मैं नहीं जाऊंगा वहां!”
12 And lo, I perceived that God had not sent him; but that he pronounced this prophecy against me: for Tobiah and Sanballat had hired him.
तब मुझे यह अहसास हो गया, कि निश्चित ही यह परमेश्वर द्वारा भेजी गई सलाह नहीं थी! उसने तो यह भविष्यवाणी के रूप में इसलिये कहा था, कि उसे तोबियाह और सनबल्लत ने पैसा दिया था.
13 Therefore [was] he hired, that I should be afraid, and do so, and sin, and [that] they might have [matter] for an evil report, that they might reproach me.
शेमायाह को पैसे देकर मुझे डराने के लिए काम पर रखा गया था, कि मैं डरकर वही करूं, जिससे मैं परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध पाप कर बैठूं, और इसकी वजह से उन्हें मुझ पर दोष लगाने का मौका मिल जाए और मैं उनके लिए निंदा का पात्र बन जाऊं.
14 My God, think thou upon Tobiah and Sanballat according to these their works, and on the prophetess Noadiah, and the rest of the prophets, that would have put me in fear.
मेरे परमेश्वर, आप तोबियाह और सनबल्लत के इस काम को भुला दीजिए. उनके अलावा उस स्त्री, भविष्यद्वक्ता नोआदिया को भी और उन सभी भविष्यवक्ताओं को भी, जो मुझे डराने की कोशिश कर रहे थे.
15 So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth [day] of [the month] Elul, in fifty and two days.
इस प्रकार एलुल महीने की पच्चिसवीं तारीख पर 52 दिनों में शहरपनाह की मरम्मत का काम पूरा हो गया.
16 And it came to pass, that when all our enemies heard [of it], and all the heathen that [were] about us saw [these things], they were much cast down in their own eyes: for they perceived that this work was wrought by our God.
सभी शत्रुओं को यह समाचार मिल गया, हमारे सभी पास वाले देशों ने यह देख लिया. वे बहुत डर गए. क्योंकि उनके सामने यह साफ़ हो गया था कि यह काम हमारे परमेश्वर की सहायता ही से पूरा हो सका था.
17 Moreover, in those days the nobles of Judah sent many letters to Tobiah, and [the letters] of Tobiah came to them.
इसके अलावा उन्हीं दिनों में यहूदिया के बड़े अधिकारियों और तोबियाह के बीच चिट्ठी बहुत आती-जाती थी.
18 For [there were] many in Judah sworn to him, because he [was] the son-in-law of Shechaniah the son of Arah; and his son Johanan had taken the daughter of Meshullam the son of Berechiah.
क्योंकि यहूदिया के अनेक व्यक्ति तोबियाह का पक्ष लेने की शपथ लिए हुए थे, क्योंकि वह आराह के पुत्र शेकनियाह का दामाद था और उसके पुत्र येहोहानन का विवाह बेरेखियाह के पुत्र मेशुल्लाम की पुत्री से हुआ था.
19 Also they reported his good deeds before me, and uttered my words to him. [And] Tobiah sent letters to put me in fear.
इसके अलावा, वे मेरे ही सामने उसके भले कामों की सूचना भी दे दिया करते थे. तब तोबियाह ने मुझे डराने के लिए पत्र भेजना शुरू कर दिया.
