Nehemiah 5
1 And there was a great cry of the people and of their wives against their brethren the Jews.
௧மக்களுக்குள் அநேகரும் அவர்களுடைய பெண்களும் யூதர்களாகிய தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்கள்மேல் குற்றம் சாட்டுகிற பெரிய கூக்குரல் உண்டானது.
2 For there were that said, We, our sons, and our daughters, [are] many: therefore we take up corn [for them], that we may eat, and live.
௨அது என்னவென்றால், அவர்களில் சிலர்: நாங்கள் எங்களுடைய மகன்களோடும், மகள்களோடும் அநேகரானதால், சாப்பிட்டுப் பிழைப்பதற்காக நாங்கள் தானியத்தைக் கடனாக வாங்கினோம் என்றார்கள்.
3 [Some] also there were that said, We have mortgaged our lands, vineyards, and houses, that we might buy corn, because of the dearth.
௩வேறு சிலர்: எங்களுடைய நிலங்களையும், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களையும், வீடுகளையும் நாங்கள் அடைமானமாக வைத்து, இந்தப் பஞ்சத்திலே தானியம் வாங்கினோம் என்றார்கள்.
4 There were also that said, We have borrowed money for the king's tribute, [and that upon] our lands and vineyards.
௪இன்னும் சிலர்: ராஜாவிற்கு வரியை செலுத்த, நாங்கள் எங்களுடைய நிலங்கள்மேலும், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்கள்மேலும், பணத்தைக் கடனாக வாங்கினோம் என்றும்;
5 Yet now our flesh [is] as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and lo, we bring into bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and [some] of our daughters are brought to bondage [already]: neither [is it] in our power [to redeem them]; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
௫எங்களுடைய உடலும், சகோதரர்கள் உடலும் சரி; எங்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளும் அவர்களுடைய பிள்ளைகளும் சரி; ஆனாலும், இதோ, நாங்கள் எங்களுடைய மகன்களையும், மகள்களையும் அடிமையாக்கவேண்டியதாக இருக்கிறது; அப்படியே எங்களுடைய மகள்களில் சிலர் அடிமையாகவும் இருக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்களை மீட்க எங்களுக்கு வழியில்லை; எங்களுடைய நிலங்களும், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களும் வேறு மனிதர்கள் கைவசமானது என்றார்கள்.
6 And I was very angry when I heard their cry and these words.
௬அவர்கள் கூக்குரலையும், இந்த வார்த்தைகளையும் நான் கேட்டபோது, மிகவும் கோபங்கொண்டு,
7 Then I consulted with myself, and I rebuked the nobles, and the rulers, and said to them, Ye exact interest, every one of his brother. And I set a great assembly against them.
௭என்னுடைய மனதிலே ஆலோசனைசெய்து, பிறகு பிரபுக்களையும் அதிகாரிகளையும் கடிந்துகொண்டு: நீங்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுடைய சகோதரர்கள்மேல் ஏன் வட்டி சுமத்துகிறீர்கள் என்று சொல்லி, அவர்களுக்கு விரோதமாக ஒரு பெரிய சபை கூடிவரச்செய்து,
8 And I said to them, We after our ability have redeemed our brethren the Jews, who were sold to the heathen; and will ye even sell your brethren? or shall they be sold to us? Then they held their peace, and found nothing [to answer].
௮அவர்களை நோக்கி: யூதரல்லாதவர்களுக்கு விற்கப்பட்ட யூதர்களாகிய எங்கள் சகோதரர்களை நாங்கள் எங்கள் சக்திக்குத்தக்கதாக மீட்டிருக்கும்போது, நீங்கள் திரும்ப உங்கள் சகோதரர்களை விற்கலாமா? இவர்கள் நமக்கு விலைப்பட்டுப்போகலாமா என்றேன்; அப்பொழுது அவர்கள் மறு உத்திரவு சொல்ல இடமில்லாமல் மவுனமாக இருந்தார்கள்.
9 Also I said, That [is] not good which ye do: ought ye not to walk in the fear of our God because of the reproach of the heathen our enemies?
௯பின்னும் நான் அவர்களை நோக்கி: நீங்கள் செய்கிற காரியம் நல்லதல்ல; நம்முடைய எதிரிகளாகிய யூதரல்லாதவர்கள் அவமதிக்கிறதினாலே நீங்கள் நம்முடைய தேவனுக்குப் பயந்து நடக்கவேண்டாமா?
10 I likewise, my brethren, and my servants, might exact of them money and corn: I pray you, let us leave off this usury.
௧0நானும் என்னுடைய சகோதரர்களும் என்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களும் இப்படியா அவர்களுக்குப் பணமும் தானியமும் கடன் கொடுத்திருக்கிறோம்? இந்த வட்டியை விட்டுவிடுவோமாக.
11 Restore, I pray you, to them, even this day, their lands, their vineyards, their olive-yards, and their houses, also the hundredth [part] of the money, and of the corn, the wine, and the oil, that ye exact of them.
௧௧நீங்கள் இன்றைக்கு அவர்களுடைய நிலங்களையும், திராட்சைத்தோட்டங்களையும், ஒலிவத்தோப்புகளையும், வீடுகளையும், நீங்கள் பணத்திலும் தானியத்திலும் திராட்சைரசத்திலும் எண்ணெயிலும் நூற்றுக்கொன்று வீதமாக அவர்களிடத்தில் தண்டனையாக வாங்கிவருகிற வட்டியையும், அவர்களுக்குத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்துவிடுங்கள் என்றேன்.
12 Then said they, We will restore [them], and will require nothing of them; so will we do as thou sayest. Then I called the priests, and took an oath of them, that they would do according to this promise.
௧௨அதற்கு அவர்கள்: நாங்கள் அதைத் திரும்பக் கொடுத்துவிட்டு, இனி அப்படி அவர்களிடத்தில் கேட்கமாட்டோம்; நீர் சொல்லுகிறபடியே செய்வோம் என்றார்கள்; அப்பொழுது நான் ஆசாரியர்களை அழைத்து, அவர்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படி செய்ய அவர்களை ஆணையிட வைத்தேன்.
13 Also I shook my lap, and said, So God shake out every man from his house, and from his labor, that performeth not this promise, even thus be he shaken out, and emptied. And all the congregation said, Amen, and praised the LORD. And the people did according to this promise.
௧௩நான் என்னுடைய ஆடையை உதறிப்போட்டு, இப்படி இந்த வார்த்தையை நிறைவேற்றாத எந்த மனிதனையும் அவன் வீட்டிலும் அவன் சம்பாத்தியத்திலும் இருந்து தேவன் உதறிப்போடக்கடவர்; இப்படியாக அவன் உதறிப்போடப்பட்டு, வெறுமையாகப் போவானாக என்றேன்; அதற்குச் சபையார்கள் எல்லோரும் ஆமென் என்று சொல்லி, யெகோவாவை துதித்தார்கள்; பின்பு மக்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படியே செய்தார்கள்.
14 Moreover, from the time that I was appointed to be their governor in the land of Judah, from the twentieth year even to the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes the king, [that is], twelve years, I and my brethren have not eaten the bread of the governor.
௧௪நான் யூதா தேசத்திலே ஆளுநராக இருக்க ராஜாவாகிய அர்தசஷ்டா எனக்கு நியமித்த நாளாகிய அவருடைய இருபதாம் வருடம் முதல் அவருடைய முப்பத்திரண்டாம் வருடம் வரைக்கும் இருந்த பன்னிரண்டு வருட காலங்களாக, நானும் என்னுடைய சகோதரர்களும் ஆளுநர்கள் உணவுக்காக வாங்குகிற பணத்தை பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.
15 But the former governors, that [had been] before me were chargeable to the people, and had taken of them bread and wine, besides forty shekels of silver; yes, even their servants bore rule over the people: but so did not I, because of the fear of God.
௧௫எனக்கு முன்னிருந்த ஆளுநர்கள் மக்களுக்குப் பாரமாக இருந்து, அவர்கள் கையிலே அப்பமும் திராட்சைரசமும் வாங்கினதும் அன்றி, நாற்பது சேக்கல் வெள்ளியும் வாங்கிவந்தார்கள்; அவர்களுடைய வேலைக்காரர்களும் கூட மக்களின்மேல் அதிகாரம் செலுத்தினார்கள்; நானோ தேவனுக்குப் பயந்ததால் இப்படிச் செய்யவில்லை.
16 Yea, also I continued in the work of this wall, neither bought we any land: and all my servants [were] gathered thither to the work.
௧௬ஒரு வயலையாவது நாங்கள் வாங்கவில்லை; நாங்கள் அந்த மதிலின் வேலையிலே மும்முரமாக இருந்தோம்; என்னுடைய வேலைக்காரர்கள் அனைவரும் கூட்டமாக அந்த வேலைக்குக் கூடிவந்தார்கள்.
17 Moreover, [there were] at my table a hundred and fifty of the Jews and rulers, besides those that came to us from among the heathen that [were] about us.
௧௭யூதர்களும் மூப்பர்களுமான நூற்றைம்பதுபேரும், எங்களைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கிற யூதர்கள் அல்லாதவர்களிடமிருந்து எங்களிடத்திற்கு வந்தவர்களும் என்னுடைய பந்தியில் சாப்பிட்டார்கள்.
18 Now [that] which was prepared [for me] daily [was] one ox [and] six choice sheep; also fowls were prepared for me, and once in ten days an abundance of all sorts of wine: yet for all this I required not the bread of the governor, because the bondage was heavy upon this people.
௧௮நாளொன்றுக்கு ஒரு காளையும், முதல்தரமான ஆறு ஆடுகளும் சமைக்கப்பட்டது; பறவைகளும் சமைக்கப்பட்டது; பத்துநாளைக்கு ஒருமுறை பலவித திராட்சைரசமும் செலவழிந்தது; இப்படியெல்லாம் இருந்தபோதும், இந்த மக்கள் பட்டபாடு கடினமாக இருந்ததால், ஆளுநர்கள் வாங்குகிற பணத்தை நான் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளவில்லை.
19 Think upon me, my God, for good, [according] to all that I have done for this people.
௧௯என்னுடைய தேவனே, நான் இந்த மக்களுக்காகச் செய்த எல்லாவற்றிற்காகவும் எனக்கு நன்மையுண்டாக என்னை நினைத்தருளும்.
