Nehemiah 11

1 And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts [to dwell] in [other] cities.

Or les princes du peuple habitèrent dans Jérusalem; mais le reste du peuple jeta le sort, afin que l’on prît une partie sur dix, laquelle devait habiter dans Jérusalem, la ville sainte, mais les neuf autres parties dans les autres villes.

2 And the people blessed all the men that willingly offered themselves to dwell at Jerusalem.

Et le peuple bénit tous les hommes qui s’étaient spontanément offerts pour habiter dans Jérusalem.

3 Now these [are] the chief of the province that dwelt in Jerusalem: but in the cities of Judah dwelt every one in his possession in their cities, [to wit], Israel, the priests, and the Levites, and the Nethinims, and the children of Solomon's servants.

Voici donc les princes de la province qui habitèrent dans Jérusalem et dans les villes de Juda. Or chacun habita dans sa possession, dans ses villes, Israël, les prêtres, les Lévites, les Nathinéens, et les fils des serviteurs de Salomon.

4 And at Jerusalem dwelt [certain] of the children of Judah, and of the children of Benjamin. Of the children of Judah; Athaiah the son of Uzziah, the son of Zechariah, the son of Amariah, the son of Shephatiah, the son of Mahalaleel, of the children of Perez;

Ainsi habitèrent dans Jérusalem des fils de Juda et des fils de Benjamin. D’entre les fils de Juda, Athaïas, fils d’Aziam, fils de Zacharie, fils d’Amarias, fils de Saphatias, fils de Malaléel. D’entre les fils de Pharès,

5 And Maaseiah the son of Baruch, the son of Col-hozeh, the son of Hazaiah, the son of Adaiah, the son of Joiarib, the son of Zechariah, the son of Shiloni.

Maasia, fils de Baruch, fils de Cholhoza, fils d’Hazia, fils d’Adaïa, fils de Joïarib, fils de Zacharie, fils du Silonite.

6 All the sons of Perez that dwelt at Jerusalem [were] four hundred sixty and eight valiant men.

Tous ces fils de Pharès, qui habitèrent dans Jérusalem, étaient quatre cent soixante-huit hommes vaillants.

7 And these [are] the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah.

Or voici les fils de Benjamin: Sellum, fils de Mosollam, fils de Joëd, fils de Phadaïa, fils de Colaïa, fils de Masia, fils d’Éthéel, le fils d’Isaïe.

8 And after him, Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight.

Et après lui Gebbaï, Sellaï: neuf cent vingt-huit.

9 And Joel the son of Zichri [was] their overseer: and Judah the son of Senuah [was] second over the city.

Et Joël, fils de Zéchri, leur préposé, et Juda, fils de Sénua, le second sur la ville.

10 Of the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin.

Et d’entre les prêtres, Idaïa, fils de Joïarib, Jachin,

11 Seraiah the son of Hilkiah, the son of Meshullam, the son of Zadok, the son of Meraioth, the son of Ahitub, [was] the ruler of the house of God.

Saraïa, fils d’Helcias, fils de Mosollam, fils de Sadoc, fils de Méraïoth, fils d’Achitob, prince de la maison de Dieu,

12 And their brethren that performed the work of the house [were] eight hundred twenty and two: and Adaiah the son of Jeroham, the son of Pelaliah, the son of Amzi, the son of Zechariah, the son of Pashur, the son of Malchiah,

Et leurs frères, faisant les ouvrages du temple: huit cent vingt-deux. Et Adaïa, fils de Jéroham, fils de Phélélia, fils d’Amsi, fils de Zacharie, fils de Pheshur, fils de Melchias,

13 And his brethren, chief of the fathers, two hundred forty and two: and Amashai the son of Azareel, the son of Ahasai, the son of Meshillemoth, the son of Immer,

Et ses frères, les princes des pères: deux cent quarante-deux. Et Amassai, fils d’Azréel, fils d’Ahazi, fils de Mosollamoth, fils d’Emmer,

14 And their brethren, mighty men of valor, a hundred twenty and eight: and their overseer [was] Zabdiel, the son of [one of] the great men.

Et leurs frères, très puissants: cent vingt-huit, et leur préposé, Zabdée, fils des puissants.

15 Also of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hashub, the son of Azrikam, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Bunni;

Et d’entre les Lévites, Séméia, fils d’Hasub, fils d’Azaricam, fils d’Hasabia, fils de Boni,

16 And Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chief of the Levites, [had] the oversight of the outward business of the house of God.

Et Sabathaï et Jozabed établis sur tous les ouvrages qui se faisaient au dehors à la maison de Dieu, étant d’entre les princes des Lévites,

17 And Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, [was] the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer: and Bakbukiah the second among his brethren, and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

Et Mathania, fils de Micha, fils de Zébédéi, fils d’Asaph, prince pour louer et glorifier le Seigneur dans la prière; et Becbécia, le second d’entre ses frères, et Abda, fils de Samua, fils de Galal, fils d’Idithun.

18 All the Levites in the holy city [were] two hundred and eighty four.

Tous les Lévites, dans la ville sainte, furent deux cent quatre-vingt-quatre.

19 Moreover the porters, Akkub, Talmon, and their brethren that kept the gates, [were] an hundred and seventy two.

Et les portiers, Accub, Telmon, et leurs frères, qui gardaient les portes, cent soixante-douze.

20 And the residue of Israel, of the priests, [and] the Levites, [were] in all the cities of Judah every one in his inheritance.

Et les autres d’Israël, les prêtres et les Lévites, étaient dans toutes les villes de Juda, chacun dans sa possession.

21 But the Nethinims dwelt in Ophel: and Ziha and Gispa [were] over the Nethinims.

Et les Nathinéens, qui habitaient dans Ophel; et Siaha et Gaspha étaient d’entre les Nathinéens.

22 The overseer also of the Levites at Jerusalem [was] Uzzi the son of Bani, the son of Hashabiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Micha. Of the sons of Asaph, the singers [were] over the business of the house of God.

Et le chef des Lévites à Jérusalem était Azzi, fils de Bani, fils de Hasabia, fils de Mathanias, fils de Micha. D’entre les fils d’Asaph étaient les chantres, dans le ministère de la maison de Dieu.

23 For [it was] the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day.

Car il y avait le commandement du roi à leur sujet, et un ordre observé parmi les chantres tous les jours.

24 And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah [was] at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people.

Mais Phathahia, fils de Mésézebel, d’entre les fils de Zara, le fils de Juda, étaient sous la main du roi, pour toutes les affaires du peuple,

25 And for the villages, with their fields, [some] of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjath-arba, and [in] its villages, and at Dibon, and [in] its villages, and at Jekabzeel, and [in] its villages,

Et pour les maisons dans toutes leurs contrées. Des fils de Juda habitèrent à Cariatharbé et en ses filles, à Dibon et en ses filles, à Cabséel et en ses bourgades,

26 And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Beth-phelet,

À Jésué, à Molada, à Bethphaleth,

27 And at Hazar-shual, and at Beer-sheba, and [in] its villages,

À Hasersual, à Bersabée et en ses filles,

28 And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in its villages,

À Sicéleg, à Mochona et en ses filles,

29 And at En-rimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth,

À Remmon, à Saraa, à Jérimuth,

30 Zanoah, Adullam, and [in] their villages, at Lachish, and its fields, at Azekah, and [in] its villages. And they dwelt from Beer-sheba to the valley of Hinnom.

À Zanoa, à Odollam et dans leurs villages, à Lachis et en ses contrées, à Azéca et en ses filles. Et ils demeurèrent à Bersabée jusqu’à la vallée d’Ennom;

31 The children also of Benjamin from Geba [dwelt] at Michmash, and Aija, and Beth-el, and [in] their villages.

Mais les fils de Benjamin, depuis Géba, Mechmas, Haï, Béthel et ses filles,

32 [And] at Anathoth, Nob, Ananiah,

Anathoth, Nob, Anania

33 Hazor, Ramah, Gittaim,

Asor, Rama, Géthaïm,

34 Hadid, Zeboim, Neballat,

Hadid, Séboïm, Neballat, Lod,

35 Lod, and Ono, the valley of artificers.

Et Ono, la vallée des Ouvriers.

36 And of the Levites [were] divisions [in] Judah, [and] in Benjamin.

Et les Lévites avaient des portions de Juda et de Benjamin.
