Matthew 26
1 And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples,
௧இயேசு இந்த வசனங்களையெல்லாம் சொல்லிமுடித்தபின்பு, அவர் தம்முடைய சீடர்களைப் பார்த்து:
2 Ye know that after two days is the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified.
௨இரண்டு நாட்களுக்குப்பின்பு பஸ்காபண்டிகை வருமென்று அறிவீர்கள்; அப்பொழுது, மனிதகுமாரன் சிலுவையில் அறையப்படுவதற்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுவார் என்றார்.
3 Then assembled the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, in the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
௩அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களும் வேதபண்டிதர்களும் மக்களின் மூப்பர்களும், காய்பா என்னப்பட்ட தலைமை ஆசாரியனுடைய அரண்மனையிலே கூடிவந்து,
4 And consulted that they might take Jesus by subtilty, and kill [him].
௪இயேசுவைத் தந்திரமாகப் பிடித்துக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி ஆலோசனை செய்தார்கள்.
5 But they said, Not on the feast -[day], lest there be an uproar among the people.
௫ஆனாலும் மக்களுக்குள்ளே கலகமுண்டாகாதபடிக்குப் பண்டிகையிலே அப்படிச் செய்யக்கூடாது என்றார்கள்.
6 Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,
௬இயேசு பெத்தானியாவில் குஷ்டரோகியாக இருந்த சீமோன் வீட்டில் இருக்கும்போது,
7 There came to him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured it on his head as he sat [at table].
௭ஒரு பெண் விலையேறப்பெற்ற பரிமள தைலமுள்ள வெள்ளைக்கல் ஜாடியைக் கொண்டுவந்து, அவர் உணவு பந்தியிலிருக்கும்போது, அந்தத் தைலத்தை அவர் தலையின்மேல் ஊற்றினாள்.
8 But when his disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose [is] this waste?
௮அவருடைய சீடர்கள் அதைக் கண்டு கோபமடைந்து: இந்த வீண் செலவு என்னத்திற்கு?
9 For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
௯இந்தத் தைலத்தை அதிக விலைக்கு விற்று, தரித்திரர்களுக்குக் கொடுக்கலாமே என்றார்கள்.
10 When Jesus understood [it], he said to them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
௧0இயேசு அதை அறிந்து, அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் இந்தப் பெண்ணை ஏன் தொந்தரவு படுத்துகிறீர்கள்? என்னிடத்தில் நற்செயலைச் செய்திருக்கிறாள்.
11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
௧௧தரித்திரர்கள் எப்போதும் உங்களிடம் இருக்கிறார்கள்; நானோ எப்போதும் உங்களிடம் இருக்கமாட்டேன்.
12 For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did [it] for my burial.
௧௨இவள் இந்தத் தைலத்தை என் சரீரத்தின்மேல் ஊற்றினது என்னை அடக்கம் செய்வதற்கு சமமான செய்கையாக இருக்கிறது.
13 Verily I say to you, Wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, [there] shall also this, which this woman hath done, be told for a memorial of her.
௧௩இந்த நற்செய்தி உலகத்தில் எங்கெங்கே பிரசங்கிக்கப்படுமோ அங்கங்கே இவளை நினைப்பதற்காக இவள் செய்ததும் சொல்லப்படும் என்று உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
14 Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests,
௧௪அப்பொழுது, பன்னிரண்டுபேரில் ஒருவனாகிய யூதாஸ்காரியோத்து என்பவன் பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களிடத்திற்குப்போய்:
15 And said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.
௧௫நான் அவரை உங்களுக்குக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறேன், நீங்கள் எனக்கு என்ன கொடுக்கிறீர்கள் என்றான். அவர்கள் அவனுக்கு முப்பது வெள்ளிக்காசைக் கொடுக்க ஒத்துக்கொண்டார்கள்.
16 And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
௧௬அதுமுதல் அவன் அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பதற்கு நேரம் பார்த்துக்கொண்டிருந்தான்.
17 Now the first [day] of the [feast of] unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover?
௧௭புளிப்பில்லாத அப்பப்பண்டிகையின் முதல்நாளிலே, சீடர்கள் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: பஸ்காவைப் புசிப்பதற்கு நாங்கள் எங்கே உமக்கு ஆயத்தம்செய்ய விருப்பமாக இருக்கிறீர் என்று கேட்டார்கள்.
18 And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say to him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples.
௧௮அதற்கு அவர்: நீங்கள் நகரத்திலே இன்னானிடத்திற்குப்போய்: என் வேளை சமீபமாக இருக்கிறது, உன் வீட்டிலே என் சீடர்களோடுகூட பஸ்காவை ஆசரிப்பேன் என்று போதகர் சொல்லுகிறார் என்று அவனுக்குச் சொல்லுங்கள் என்றார்.
19 And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the passover.
௧௯இயேசு கற்பித்தபடி சீடர்கள்போய், பஸ்காவை ஆயத்தம் செய்தார்கள்.
20 Now when the evening was come, he sat down with the twelve.
௨0மாலைநேரமானபோது, பன்னிரண்டுபேரோடும் அவர் பந்தியிருந்தார்.
21 And as they were eating, he said, Verily I say to you, that one of you will betray me.
௨௧அவர்கள் உணவு உண்ணும்போது, அவர்: உங்களிலொருவன் என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான் என்று உண்மையாகவே உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
22 And they were exceeding sorrowful, and began every one of them to say to him, Lord, is it I?
௨௨அப்பொழுது, அவர்கள் மிகவும் துக்கமடைந்து, அவரைப் பார்த்து: ஆண்டவரே, நானோ, நானோ? என்று ஒவ்வொருவராகக் கேட்கத்தொடங்கினார்கள்.
23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth [his] hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.
௨௩அவர் மறுமொழியாக: என்னோடுகூடத் தட்டில் கையிடுகிறவனே என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுப்பான்.
24 The Son of man goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man, if he had not been born.
௨௪மனிதகுமாரன் தம்மைக்குறித்து எழுதியிருக்கிறபடியே போகிறார்; ஆனாலும், எந்த மனிதனால் மனிதகுமாரன் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிறாரோ, அந்த மனிதனுக்கு ஐயோ; அந்த மனிதன் பிறக்காதிருந்தானானால் அவனுக்கு நலமாக இருக்கும் என்றார்.
25 Then Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said to him, Thou hast said.
௨௫அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுத்த யூதாசும் அவரைப் பார்த்து: ரபீ, நானோ? என்றான்; அதற்கு அவர்: நீ சொன்னபடிதான் என்றார்.
26 And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed [it], and broke [it], and gave [it] to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
௨௬அவர்கள் உணவு உண்ணும்போது, இயேசு அப்பத்தை எடுத்து, ஆசீர்வதித்து, அதைப் பிட்டு, சீடர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து: நீங்கள் வாங்கிச்சாப்பிடுங்கள், இது என்னுடைய சரீரமாக இருக்கிறது என்றார்.
27 And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave [it] to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
௨௭பின்பு, பாத்திரத்தையும் எடுத்து, நன்றிசெலுத்தி, அவர்களுக்குக் கொடுத்து: நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் இதிலே பானம்பண்ணுங்கள்;
28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sin.
௨௮இது பாவமன்னிப்புண்டாகும்படி அநேகருக்காகச் சிந்தப்படுகிற புதிய ஒப்பந்தத்திற்குரிய என்னுடைய இரத்தமாக இருக்கிறது.
29 But I say to you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father's kingdom.
௨௯இதுமுதல் இந்தத் திராட்சைப்பழரசத்தை புதிதானதாக உங்களோடுகூட என் பிதாவின் ராஜ்யத்திலே நான் பானம்பண்ணும் நாள்வரை இதைப் பானம்பண்ணுவதில்லையென்று உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the mount of Olives.
௩0அவர்கள் துதிப்பாட்டைப் பாடினபின்பு, ஒலிவமலைக்குப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்.
31 Then saith Jesus to them, All ye shall be offended because of me this night: for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad.
௩௧அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவர்களைப் பார்த்து: மேய்ப்பனை வெட்டுவேன்; மந்தையின் ஆடுகள் சிதறடிக்கப்படும் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறபடி, இந்த இரவிலே நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் என்னிமித்தம் இடறலடைவீர்கள்.
32 But after I am risen again, I will go before you into Galilee.
௩௨ஆனாலும் நான் உயிர்த்தெழுந்தபின்பு, உங்களுக்கு முன்னே கலிலேயாவிற்குப் போவேன் என்றார்.
33 Peter answered and said to him, Though all [men] shall be offended because of thee, [yet] will I never be offended.
௩௩பேதுரு அவருக்கு மறுமொழியாக: உமதுநிமித்தம் எல்லோரும் இடறலடைந்தாலும், நான் ஒருபோதும் இடறலடையமாட்டேன் என்றான்.
34 Jesus said to him, Verily I say to thee, that this night, before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice.
௩௪இயேசு அவனைப் பார்த்து: இந்த இரவிலே சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே, நீ என்னை மூன்றுமுறை மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று, உண்மையாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
35 Peter said to him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.
௩௫அதற்குப் பேதுரு: நான் உம்மோடே மரிக்கவேண்டியதாயிருந்தாலும் உம்மை மறுதலிக்கமாட்டேன் என்றான்; சீடர்கள் எல்லோரும் அப்படியே சொன்னார்கள்.
36 Then cometh Jesus with them to a place called Gethsemane, and saith to the disciples, Sit ye here, while I go yonder and pray.
௩௬அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவர்களோடு கெத்செமனே என்னப்பட்ட இடத்திற்கு வந்து, சீடர்களைப் பார்த்து: நான் அங்கே போய் ஜெபம்செய்யும்வரை நீங்கள் இங்கே உட்கார்ந்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி;
37 And he took with him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.
௩௭பேதுருவையும் செபெதேயுவின் குமாரர்கள் இருவரையும் அழைத்துக்கொண்டுபோய், துக்கமடையவும் வியாகுலப்படவும் தொடங்கினார்.
38 Then saith he to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even to death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.
௩௮அப்பொழுது, அவர்: என் ஆத்துமா மரணத்திற்குரிய துக்கங்கொண்டிருக்கிறது; நீங்கள் இங்கே தங்கி, என்னோடுகூட விழித்திருங்கள் என்று சொல்லி,
39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou [wilt].
௩௯சிறிது விலகிப்போய், முகங்குப்புறவிழுந்து: என் பிதாவே, இந்தப் பாத்திரம் என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கக்கூடுமானால் நீங்கும்படிச் செய்யும்; ஆனாலும் என் விருப்பத்தின்படியல்ல, உம்முடைய விருப்பத்தின்படியே ஆகக்கடவது என்று ஜெபம்செய்தார்.
40 And he cometh to the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith to Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
௪0பின்பு, அவர் சீடர்களிடத்தில் வந்து, அவர்கள் நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக் கண்டு, பேதுருவைப் பார்த்து: நீங்கள் ஒருமணி நேரமாவது என்னோடுகூட விழித்திருக்கக்கூடாதா?
41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed [is] willing, but the flesh [is] weak.
௪௧நீங்கள் சோதனைக்குட்படாதபடிக்கு விழித்திருந்து ஜெபம்செய்யுங்கள்; ஆவி உற்சாகமுள்ளதுதான், மாம்சமோ பலவீனமுள்ளது என்றார்.
42 He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
௪௨அவர் மறுபடியும் இரண்டாம்முறை போய்: என் பிதாவே, இந்தப் பாத்திரத்தில் நான் பானம்பண்ணினாலொழிய இது என்னைவிட்டு நீங்கக்கூடாதாகில், உம்முடைய விருப்பத்தின்படி ஆகக்கடவது என்று ஜெபம்செய்தார்.
43 And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.
௪௩அவர் திரும்ப வந்தபோது, அவர்கள் மறுபடியும் நித்திரைபண்ணுகிறதைக் கண்டார்; அவர்களுடைய கண்கள் மிகுந்த நித்திரைமயக்கம் அடைந்திருந்தது.
44 And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.
௪௪அவர் மறுபடியும் அவர்களைவிட்டுப்போய், மூன்றாம்முறையும் அந்த வார்த்தைகளையே சொல்லி ஜெபம்செய்தார்.
45 Then he cometh to his disciples, and saith to them, Sleep on now, and take [your] rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
௪௫பின்பு அவர் தம்முடைய சீடர்களிடத்தில் வந்து: இன்னும் நித்திரைபண்ணி இளைப்பாறுகிறீர்களா? இதோ, மனிதகுமாரன் பாவிகளுடைய கைகளில் ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கப்படுகிற நேரம்வந்தது.
46 Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me.
௪௬என்னைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவன், இதோ, வந்துவிட்டான், எழுந்திருங்கள், போவோம் என்றார்.
47 And while he was yet speaking, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staffs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.
௪௭அவர் இப்படிப் பேசும்போது, பன்னிரண்டுபேரில் ஒருவனாகிய யூதாஸ் வந்தான்; அவனோடுகூட பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களும் மக்களின் மூப்பர்களும் அனுப்பின திரளான மக்கள் பட்டயங்களையும் தடிகளையும் பிடித்துக்கொண்டுவந்தார்கள்.
48 Now he that betrayed him, gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; hold him fast.
௪௮அவரைக் காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறவன்: நான் எவனை முத்தம்செய்வேனோ அவன்தான், அவனைப் பிடித்துக்கொள்ளுங்கள் என்று அவர்களுக்கு அடையாளம் சொல்லியிருந்தான்.
49 And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail Master; and kissed him.
௪௯உடனே, அவன் இயேசுவினிடத்தில் வந்து: ரபீ, வாழ்க என்று சொல்லி, அவரை முத்தம்செய்தான்.
50 And Jesus said to him, Friend, Why art thou come? Then they came, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.
௫0இயேசு அவனைப் பார்த்து; நண்பனே, எதற்காக வந்திருக்கிறாய் என்றார். அப்பொழுது, அவர்கள் கிட்டவந்து, இயேசுவைப் பிடித்தார்கள்.
51 And behold, one of them, who were with Jesus, stretched out [his] hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest, and smote off his ear.
௫௧அப்பொழுது இயேசுவோடிருந்தவர்களில் ஒருவன் கையை நீட்டித் தன் பட்டயத்தை உருவி, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய வேலைக்காரனின் காது அறுந்துபோக வெட்டினான்.
52 Then said Jesus to him, Put up again thy sword into its place: for all they that take the sword, shall perish by the sword.
௫௨அப்பொழுது, இயேசு அவனைப் பார்த்து: உன் பட்டயத்தைத் திரும்ப அதின் உறையிலே போடு; பட்டயத்தை எடுக்கிற அனைவரும் பட்டயத்தால் அழிந்துபோவார்கள்.
53 Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he will presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
௫௩நான் இப்பொழுது என் பிதாவை வேண்டிக்கொண்டால், அவர் பன்னிரண்டு லேகியோனுக்கு அதிகமான தூதர்களை என்னிடத்தில் அனுப்பமாட்டாரென்று நினைக்கிறாயா?
54 But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
௫௪அப்படிச் செய்வேனானால், இவ்விதமாக நடைபெறவேண்டும் என்கிற வேதவாக்கியங்கள் எப்படி நிறைவேறும் என்றார்.
55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staffs to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
௫௫அந்த நேரத்திலே இயேசு மக்களைப் பார்த்து: திருடனைப்பிடிக்கப் புறப்படுகிறதுபோல, நீங்கள் பட்டயங்களையும் தடிகளையும் எடுத்துக்கொண்டு என்னைப் பிடிக்கவந்தீர்கள்; நான் தினந்தோறும் உங்கள் நடுவிலே உட்கார்ந்து தேவாலயத்தில் உபதேசம் செய்துகொண்டிருந்தேன்; அப்பொழுது, நீங்கள் என்னைப் பிடிக்கவில்லையே.
56 But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.
௫௬ஆனாலும் தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் எழுதியிருக்கிற வசனங்கள் நிறைவேறும்படி இவைகளெல்லாம் நடைபெறுகிறது என்றார். அப்பொழுது, சீடர்களெல்லோரும் அவரைவிட்டு ஓடிப்போனார்கள்.
57 And they that had laid hold on Jesus, led [him] away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled.
௫௭இயேசுவைப் பிடித்தவர்கள் அவரைப் பிரதான ஆசாரியனாகிய காய்பாவினிடத்திற்குக் கொண்டுபோனார்கள்; அங்கே வேதபண்டிதர்களும் மூப்பர்களும் கூடிவந்திருந்தார்கள்.
58 But Peter followed him at a distance, to the high priest's palace, and went in, and sat with the servants to see the end.
௫௮பேதுரு, தூரத்திலே அவருக்குப் பின்னேசென்று, பிரதான ஆசாரியனுடைய அரண்மனை வரைக்கும் வந்து, உள்ளே நுழைந்து, முடிவைப் பார்க்கும்படி காவலாளிகளோடு உட்கார்ந்தான்.
59 Now the chief priests and elders, and all the council, sought false testimony against Jesus, to put him to death;
௫௯பிரதான ஆசாரியர்களும் மூப்பர்களும் சங்கத்தினர்கள் அனைவரும் இயேசுவைக் கொலைசெய்யும்படி அவருக்கு விரோதமாகப் பொய்ச்சாட்சி தேடினார்கள்;
60 But found none: and, though many false witnesses came, [yet] found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
௬0ஒருவரும் கிடைக்கவில்லை; அநேகர் வந்து பொய்ச்சாட்சி சொல்லியும் அவர்கள் சாட்சி ஏற்புடையதாயில்லை; கடைசியிலே இரண்டு பொய்ச்சாட்சிகள் வந்து:
61 And said, This [man] said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.
௬௧தேவனுடைய ஆலயத்தை இடித்துப்போடவும், மூன்று நாட்களுக்குள்ளே அதைக் கட்டவும் என்னாலே ஆகும் என்று இவன் சொன்னான் என்றார்கள்.
62 And the high priest arose, and said to him, Answerest thou nothing, what [is it which] these testify against thee?
௬௨அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியன் எழுந்திருந்து, அவரைப் பார்த்து: இவர்கள் உனக்கு விரோதமாக சாட்சி சொல்லுகிறதைக்குறித்து நீ ஒன்றும் சொல்லுகிறதில்லையா என்றான்.
63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou art the Christ the Son of God.
௬௩இயேசுவோ பேசாமலிருந்தார். அப்பொழுது, பிரதான ஆசாரியன் அவரைப் பார்த்து: நீ தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்துதானா? அதை எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும்படி ஜீவனுள்ள தேவன்பேரில் உன்னை ஆணையிட்டுக் கேட்கிறேன் என்றான்.
64 Jesus saith to him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say to you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
௬௪அதற்கு இயேசு: நீர் சொன்னபடிதான்; அன்றியும், மனிதகுமாரன் சர்வவல்லவருடைய வலதுபக்கத்தில் வீற்றிருப்பதையும் வானத்தின் மேகங்கள்மேல் வருவதையும் இதுமுதல் காண்பீர்களென்று, உங்களுக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்.
65 Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
௬௫அப்பொழுது பிரதான ஆசாரியன் தன் ஆடைகளைக் கிழித்துக்கொண்டு: இவன் தேவனை நிந்தித்தான்; இனி சாட்சிகள் நமக்கு வேண்டியதென்ன? இதோ, இவன் நிந்தித்ததை இப்பொழுது கேட்டீர்களே.
66 What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.
௬௬உங்களுக்கு எப்படித் தோன்றுகிறது என்று கேட்டான். அதற்கு அவர்கள்: மரணத்திற்குப் பாத்திரனாக இருக்கிறான் என்றார்கள்.
67 Then they spit in his face, and buffetted him; and others smote [him] with the palms of their hands,
௬௭அப்பொழுது, அவருடைய முகத்தில் துப்பி, அவரைக் குட்டினார்கள்; சிலர் அவரைக் கன்னத்தில் அறைந்து:
68 Saying, Prophesy to us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?
௬௮கிறிஸ்துவே, உம்மை அடித்தவன் யார்? அதை ஞான தரிசனத்தினால் எங்களுக்குச் சொல்லும் என்றார்கள்.
69 Now Peter sat without in the palace: and a damsel came to him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
௬௯அந்தநேரத்தில் பேதுரு வெளியே வந்து அரண்மனை முற்றத்தில் உட்கார்ந்திருந்தான். அப்பொழுது, வேலைக்காரி ஒருத்தி அவனிடத்தில் வந்து: நீயும் கலிலேயனாகிய இயேசுவோடுகூட இருந்தாய் என்றாள்.
70 But he denied before [them] all, saying, I know not what thou sayest.
௭0அதற்கு அவன்: நீ சொல்லுகிறது எனக்குத் தெரியாது என்று எல்லோருக்கும் முன்பாக மறுதலித்தான்.
71 And when he had gone out into the porch, another [maid] saw him, and said to them that were there, This [man] was also with Jesus of Nazareth.
௭௧அவன், வாசல் மண்டபத்திற்குப்போனபொழுது வேறொருத்தி அவனைக் கண்டு: இவனும் நசரேயனாகிய இயேசுவோடுகூட இருந்தான் என்று அங்கே இருந்தவர்களுக்குச் சொன்னாள்.
72 And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the man.
௭௨அவனோ: அந்த மனிதனை நான் அறியேன் என்று சத்தியம் செய்து, மறுபடியும் மறுதலித்தான்.
73 And after a while came to [him] they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou also art [one] of them; for thy speech betrayeth thee.
௭௩சிறிதுநேரத்திற்குப்பின்பு அங்கே நின்றவர்கள் பேதுருவினிடத்தில் வந்து: உண்மையாகவே நீயும் அவர்களில் ஒருவன்; உன் பேச்சு உன்னை காட்டிக்கொடுக்கிறது என்றார்கள்.
74 Then began he to curse and to swear, [saying], I know not the man. And immediately the cock crowed.
௭௪அப்பொழுது அவன்: அந்த மனிதனைத் தெரியாது என்று சொல்லி, சபிக்கவும் சத்தியம் செய்யவும் தொடங்கினான். உடனே சேவல் கூவியது.
75 And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, who said to him, Before the cock shall crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.
௭௫அப்பொழுது பேதுரு: சேவல் கூவுகிறதற்கு முன்னே நீ என்னை மூன்றுமுறை மறுதலிப்பாய் என்று இயேசு தன்னிடத்தில் சொன்ன வார்த்தையை நினைத்துக்கொண்டு, வெளியேபோய், மனங்கசந்து அழுதான்.
